    Wanderlust Crossings RV Park

    Nice quiet spot

Only stayed one night but would have stayed longer. Quiet place with nice landscaping. Concrete level pull thru with full hookups. Picnic table and fire pit at each lot. Has dog park, basketball court, playground and laundry facilities. Cellular good plus free wifi up to 800mb but can upgrade for $5. Cost was $45 a night but offered military discount. Gift shop does not have much but there is a gas station down the road that is easy in/out. Would have given it 5 stars if the nice lady who checked us in didn’t lie to me when I asked if there were vending machines in laundry room as we did not have detergent and she said no. Thank goodness we walked down there anyways.

    Bobcat Creek RV Park

    Affordable Hidden Gem

Bobcat Creek RV Park is a peaceful, well-kept property that won’t empty your bank account if you decide to stay the night, an entire week or a full month. They even have online booking!

The RV Park is located in the small town of Sayre, Oklahoma and is not far off the interstate. With full hookups and great rates, this family owned and operated park is the perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

They have a walking path, laundry room and free WiFi along with an office/convenience store that has gas, diesel and propane exchange. Even with being close to I-40, the road traffic is only a light background noise.

The city of Sayre has a grocery store, two truck stops, RV/Truck self-wash bays, propane refill and fast food options. There are two local parks to take the family to and burn off some energy. If you need more big city options like restaurants or a Walmart, Elk City is a quick 15 minute drive down the freeway.

    Texas Route 66 RV Park

    Right on Old Route 66

Located on one of the last remaining stretched of Route 66 in Texas. This is a nice campground just outside of Shamrock TX, on the panhandle, about 10 miles from the Oklahoma line. They have Full Hookups, with 30 & 50 amps, Long Pull-Thru sites, Free Wi-Fi, a Dog Run, Laundry, Play Area. There is also a Souvenir Shop with Route 66 memorabilia. There was only one shower when we were there, so be sure to lock the door! It does look like they are adding more. There was not much shade, but in late May it was still pleasant, and there is a steady breeze, which felt good after 2 days of rain. The sites are also very close together. Our neighbors were practically sitting in our site when we arrived. One interesting item is the storm shelter. I guess in tornado county it could be helpful. They also gave a menagerie of farm animals: goats, sheep, chickens, cows and a donkey.

    Sayre City Park Campground

    Can’t beat $12 a night

This campground is located between the city pool and golf course. Self check in. Sites are long pull throughs with 50 amp electric and water. A dump station is located on the road outside the park. No bathrooms unless you walk across to the public ones for the city park. No amenities, but easy, convenient and inexpensive That’s the reason for 4 stars.

    Water-Zoo Campground

    Excellent

There is not much about this campground online so we sort of were coming in blind. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised. The campground entry point is located in the far back of the parking lot of an indoor water park, The Water Zoo. Only one way in and one way out, which was a plus keeping crime down or keeping people from driving fast through the park. Drive down a paved road through the tree (not too worry) and wow, a little hidden gem. We stayed there two nights during the week. It was quiet, hardly anyone there. The grounds were kept clean and grass was cut short. They even came out and mowed the lawn again before departure. The bathrooms were clean and seperate from one another. Each restroom had a toilet, shower and sink. Ladies, no mirrors. There is a code to get in which I liked because it keeps riff raff out (not that there was any.) There are full hook ups, sewer included on some. We pretty much had the pickins and in our opinion lot 37 was the best pick. Not all sites had fire rings or sewer hook ups, this one did. It was also a pull through site with lots of shade. The grounds are surrounded by trees which gave it a feeling of being in the woods. It had everything we needed, nice slab, nice tables, store within walking distance and an indoor water park that is open year round. For those with horses, this campground is horse friendly. There is a place to house them overnight. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be going back.

Cedar Point Campground, Foss State Park, OK

    Foss Lake Cedar point nice!

Nice with many pull thru level sites. A few back ins. Wonder Lake view. Full hook ups. Shower house was a pay shower. Concrete patio areas with newer picnic tables and nice fire pits. Has a marina open seasonally. The soil is a red clayish dirt but the lake was clear. Has Frisbee Golf and a play ground. The play ground needs a bit of TLC. We are here in Sept and only two other campers here.

    Texas Route 66 RV Park

    Friendly Owner, Safe, Great Laundry

We stayed here for two weeks while traveling for renewable energy work in the area. They had very affordable daily, weekly, and monthly rates. They have a lot of people who come and stay a day or too while they travel, your neighbors are always changing. They have a very cute store with basics including food if needed. Maytag washers and commercial dryer available with dollars to coin machine. Hookups are great, easy to connect and setup user friendly. They have farm animals onsite to visit, great fir the kids! Pet friendly. Trash cans all over the site along with two dumpsters. Tornado shelters on site! Only 5minutes away from the town of Shamrock, TX which has multiple fuel options, grocery market and ace hardware. They have some cute shops too. Multiple propane options within an hour of each direction.

All in all very impressed with the owners and site and our stay was great. Definitely will stay here again if we are back in the area!

Guide to Elk City

Elk City sits at an elevation of 1,930 feet in western Oklahoma along Interstate 40, a key east-west route across the state. Summer temperatures regularly reach into the 90s with high humidity, while winters can bring occasional freezing conditions. The area features rolling prairie terrain with minimal tree coverage at many campgrounds, making shade planning essential during warmer months.

What to do

Walking trails at local parks: Foss State Park, located about 30 minutes north of Elk City, offers hiking opportunities around the lake. "The best swimming area is for day use only, while other areas have trees in the water," notes one visitor. The park also includes a frisbee golf course and fishing access.

Visit farm animals: Texas Route 66 RV Park in nearby Shamrock, Texas maintains a small collection of farm animals that guests can interact with. "They have some animals on the property that the kids loved seeing! Small dog area but proportionate to the size of the rv park," writes one reviewer.

Basketball courts: Wanderlust Crossings RV Park provides recreational facilities including a basketball court. "Not to mention a basketball court. Also the turbines in the distance make for great scenery," comments a camper who enjoyed the amenities.

Route 66 museums: The area around Elk City features several Route 66 themed attractions and museums. "Plus the town has a great Route 66/Old Town Museum for cheap too! A great find!" reports a visitor staying at Elk City Lake Park.

What campers like

At Bobcat Creek RV Park, "The hosts are very sweet and the campground is tucked away, but very close, to the interstate. I had a pt fhu, even though I only I didn't even hook up I was so tired. There's a storm shelter on site too for those notorious Oklahoma storms."

Bathroom access restrictions: Elk City Lake Park locks bathroom facilities overnight. "Quiet spot, right on the lake. As mentioned, approx 8 RV sites, plus handful of tent sites. Held back a star because, for whatever reason, they lock the restrooms from 7p-7a."
