Denison Dam Site
About
US Army Corps of Engineers
Damsite Texas is a relatively small campground which consists of a total of 19 campsites. Each of the campsites do have water and electric. The campground is located right along the Red River which gives easy access to popular outdoor activities like fishing. Most of all the campsites are covered by pecan trees within the campground which allows for great shade during the summer time. Before the enterance to the camground you will notice there are multiple picnic tables and a pavillion to be able to utilize for the day, this allows visitors to spend the day along the Red River and enjoy the scenary while not having to pay the cost for overnight camping within the campground. If a visitor does choose to bring a boat to explore lake Texoma, there is a popular spillway boat ramp area that is located at the Denison dam.

Decent fishing camp site
This is the lot at the edge, it has a guard rail surrounding it so that made me feel better about being next to the road. We tent camp, there is a big tree you can put it under for shade if you like, a stone picnic table, a grill in the ground with a grate/grill for cooking and pit for fire, water and electric. Almost wish I would have brought my weed eater to help with the grass around the pit. Fishing is big in this spot. The fishing spots require climbing down a sorta steep hill, getting into the brush by the water to fish but it seems popular, it's downhill from the guard rail. The bathroom is very close to this site, super stinky inside but you don't smell it at the site. It was pretty quiet. Most people seem to bring their RVs and just hang out. People like to swim and put in their boats on the other side of the river. We drove over there to swim. That is the only spot I will swim at at the river(where the flood gates release). I think if you plan on fishing this is a good spot. Night fishing is popular there were cars coming and going all night, shining their lights at the tent, parking by the guard rail if that sort of thing bothers you. I couldn't sleep well in a tent and listening to all of that happening I didn't feel that safe, they don't block anyone from the camp site it's basically open to everyone and we are right next to the road. The park rangers do seem to drive by frequently

SITES: 19 with water and electric (30 amp)
No Host Picnic table, fish cleaning station, fire ring, grill, flush and pit toilets. The campground is located right on the Red River which makes for great water activities. Beautiful pecan trees cover the park grounds. Great shade but not great for solar but since the sites have electric it doesn't matter. There is a great view of the dam.

Kinda Shady Looking!
I did not spend the night. I was really excited about the apearence of this little COE campground but after about an hour I really did not feel very safe. As this park is not gated there is a no stop flow of cars crusing by checking out your setup, that really ubn nerved me, then I found out someone was killed at this location in 2019 and I decided to move on down the road.
