Water pressure issues can occur during peak usage times, particularly in older campgrounds with interconnected water systems. Winter camping options remain limited, with several parks closing seasonally between late October and early April.

    Beechwood Acres Camping Resort

    Small, But Great Family Spot!

This is a great place to take the kids. We go here every year. They have an in-ground pool, a small store for camping needs, firewood delivery and propane refills. Cell service here is awful and there is no WiFi. The antenna will pick up several local channels. There is a Dollar General about 10 mins away for grocery needs. They have several pull-through and full hookup options as well. Sites are somewhat level. This park has beautiful landscaping that is always meticulously maintained. They also host events and if you check their event calendar on their website, you can see what’s going on during your stay. We were fortunate enough to see the band Timestamp and loved it! They even had a community bonfire!

    Kiser Lake State Park Campground

    Quiet Park

This park is know for the lake that is kayak and canoe friendly since it doesn’t allow any kind of boat with a motor. It also features a beach , 2 playgrounds and several hiking trails. Just be careful if you hike with dogs since some trails intersect with a nature preserve which doesn’t allow pets.

The campground itself has 20 electric sites , 56 primitive sites and 4 camper cabins. All the electric sites are pull through and all sites have a fire pit but only the electric sites come with picnic tables.

Due to off season and COVID the camp store is closed and there is no camper host or park office staff around.

We did notice lots of downed trees on the poorly marked hiking trails. Some trails just started but no maps were around and no trails were blazed. It was hard to tell where we were headed or how long a trail was. I tried using the new Detour app and it wasn’t very accurate for this park.

We did have good Verizon cell coverage.

    Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort

    Great Park

We decided to stay here last minute. Read the reviews and went for it. 45’ Prevost w/toad. Pull through we were assigned had very low hanging tree limbs. I called the office and asked if we could use space 41 instead. No problem! Everything is clean, well cared for, and really pretty. We did not use the showers, laundry, or pool. Cost was EXCELLENT for a pull through, full hookups, and 50 amp service. Yes, there are people staying full time, but each space is well taken care of with pride it seems.

    Buck Creek State Park Campground

    Great quiet site

A well manicured campground just outside Dayton, easy to get to, back in pavement site with 30A electric, picnic table and fire pit. Plenty of potable water spigots around, just not at the site. Dump station near the entrance of the campground. Walking trails along the lake well cared for. Plenty of activity with playground and an outdoor theater. Plenty of water-front pebble beach for enjoyment in the summer. Close to the campground is the marina with a restaurant , but won’t open til Memorial Day.

Addendum: July 2021 - was speaking with a number of people who have been here and they suggest not going during the summer. There is a large influx of rowdy locals who don't quite respect the peace and quiet many of us like.

    Hueston Woods State Park Campground

Nice but hard to get good sites on weekends !

Limited level campground with full and electric hookups (does have WiFi). Best areas are A (full hookups and B (electric hookups) with concrete pads, some with slight slopes. First sites #s on A side do have larger slopes! C through E are electric only but are hilly grass pads. Other areas are back in the woods with no WiFi connections and primitive bathrooms/ outhouses (no showers) But park has great recreational activities. Book early for weekends which are almost non existent during the summer for A and B areas! Also only one dump station in B area.

    Archway Campground

    Quaint Stop Over

Owner is a kind old man. Escorted us to our site and helped us pull in. 30 and 50 amp hook ups available. No sewer hookups but dump station onsite. Mostly pull through sites with lots of room between campers. Great location, right off I-70. Lowes, Walmart, Menards, and Dollar General very close by. Almost every restaurant or food type that you can think of close by. Fishing pond onsite that also allows swimming. Restrooms/showers very basic and dated. 5 stars for what it is. Not fancy, 5 stars for what it is. Family owned, no frills campground. Relaxing mom and pop campground with owners that go the extra mile to accommodate guests.

    Pastime Campground

    Quiet and Convenient

There are 38 grass sites that are a bit snug, but mostly pleasant. New in June 2019 are 18 gravel padded sites, with lots of space. All sites are W/E. All the new gravel sites and half the grass ones have 50/30/20A electric, the rest are 30/20A. The park has a dump station. Two of the gravel sites have sewer hookup.
All sites are clean, with tables and fire rings. There is a very nice and clean restroom/shower facility. Walking path and playground are adjacent to the campground. There is a nice swimming pool at the south end of the village park. Campers get a discounted admission. Most all sites have lots of shade.

Guide to Tipp City

RV camping near Tipp City, Ohio offers several outdoor recreation options in the rural Miami Valley region. Most campgrounds within 30 miles of Tipp City operate in flat, agricultural terrain with elevations ranging between 850-950 feet above sea level. Winter camping options remain limited in this area, with temperatures typically falling below freezing from December through February.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Natural Springs Resort features a spring-fed quarry with exceptionally clear water for fishing. "The lake is nice and clear, pretty cold (would love to feel it in August or September)," notes one visitor who enjoyed the water activities despite temperature.

Canoe access: Jacoby Road Canoe Launch provides direct river access for paddlers. "Beautiful spot for tent camping right next to the Little Miami River. Picnic tables and fire pit are also nice amenities," according to a recent camper who appreciated the riverside location.

Mini golf and recreation: Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort offers family activities including putt-putt golf. One camper mentions it's a "fun location just off the highway. Perfect for a family, has swimming pool, putt putt, and other child friendly activities... also has small fishing pond."

Hiking access: Thousand Trails Wilmington provides proximity to state park trails. A regular visitor explains, "We like the location to the State park nearby for hiking trails and mountain biking trails (Caesar Creek)."

What campers like

Rural setting: Dayton KOA Holiday gets high marks for its countryside location. "Excellent rural setting. One of the nicer KOAs. Great staff and facilities. Mostly level sites. Grass, trees, and a pond all very well maintained," reports one satisfied camper.

Stream access for kids: Poor Farmer's Campground offers a natural water feature for children. According to a visitor, "A stream that runs through the campground is nice for the kids to play in when it's too hot for them on the playground."

Lower light pollution: The agricultural setting around many campgrounds creates better stargazing conditions. A camper at Poor Farmer's Campground appreciated being "out in farm country so very little light pollution overall."

Heated pool: Natural Springs Resort maintains a swimming pool that some campers find enjoyable. A longtime visitor notes, "This camp ground has a beautiful spring fed quarry with clean and clear water. Easy going fishing spots a pool, weekend activities and even a small camp store with grill/ice cream inside."

What you should know

Bathroom facilities vary widely: Campground restroom quality differs significantly between properties. At Welcome Woods, "The bathrooms come in two varieties. One is an outhouse type room... and the other is a porta potty."

Reservation requirements: Many campgrounds require advance planning, especially for full-hookup sites. At Natural Springs Resort, "Full service campground. 30, 50 amp full hook ups. Water and electric only hook ups, primitive RV and tent sites."

Site spacing issues: Several campgrounds pack sites closely together. One camper at Natural Springs noted it was "a sardine can with trees" where "if you like your awning to touch your neighbor's camper then this place is for you."

Weekend activities: Scheduled events often occur on weekends. At Poor Farmer's Campground, "They usually have a lot of activities for the weekends planned."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Many campgrounds offer play structures for different age groups. Thousand Trails Wilmington provides various recreation options: "They have the following amenities: a small Putt putt course, Game room, lending Library, Basketball half-court, horseshoes, Volleyball, GAGA ball area. They are a nice smaller playground near the pool."

Swimming options: Pools provide relief during hot summer days. At Thousand Trails Wilmington, "the pool is large and heated," making it suitable for family swimming.

Proximity to attractions: Some campgrounds serve as bases for regional activities. A visitor to Thousand Trails Wilmington notes, "It is close enough to Kings Island that we made a trip over."

Seasonal considerations: Most family-oriented facilities operate limited schedules. The majority of pools, splash pads, and organized activities only run between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Tips from RVers

Overnight convenience: Love's RV Hookup locations provide basic services for quick stops. "A little loud at times. Hardee's restaurant is a different option for meals," notes one traveler who appreciated the nearby food options.

Site selection: Requesting specific sites can improve your experience. At Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort, one RVer shared: "Pull through we were assigned had very low hanging tree limbs. I called the office and asked if we could use space 41 instead. No problem!"

Dump station availability: Not all parks offer sanitary dump services. Love's RV Hookup provides electric and water but no sewer connections or dump stations, requiring planning for waste management.

Price considerations: Rates vary significantly between basic and premium parks. One RVer found Dayton KOA "stupid expensive but nice" after paying "$77 for a pull through with full hookups and a picnic table."
