    Big, beautiful lake!

Great park! Sites are spacious and level. Very clean park. There are several full hook-up sites. Electric sites near the lake. We stayed at site #96. New Bathrooms are under construction. Campground is flat and great for bike riding. Nice playground for kids. Dog park nearby. Camp is near beach & marina. Also many shops and restaurants within a 10 minute drive. We will definitely be coming back to Mosquito Lake!

Quiet, peaceful, close to all the things

We stopped here for a couple nights to go to a Cleveland Guardians game and go to Cuyahoga National Park. It was within great proximity to both and had all the amenities the kids and I love. Swimming (wish it were open a little later…) laundry 24/7, a game room, store with just what we needed to pick up a few things, a pond that seemed to always have someone fishing at it (that’s a good thing) and a big wide sites to spread out and have a nice campfire in. (Wood available 24/7 and trash pick up at the site in the AM). It’s always nerve wracking when the fire pits are close to the rigs - loved that these sits were wide. And while there are likely people here it feels nice and spread out.

Good location but expensive for what you get

Pros: closest camping to Cuyahoga National Park, safe, professional (labeled envelopes with information at check-in and wood delivery) Cons: bathrooms weren’t cleaned or restocked as frequently as necessary (overflowing trash cans, TP empty by 5 pm), shower curtains/showers had mildew, truly dirty bathroom floors, had to drive 1/4 mile to the one trash dumpster, unlevel sites

One more thing: there’s a significant raccoon and skunk problem along the section with water/electric back-in spots. We got to know our neighbors very well over two nights as we helped each other fend off multiple raids by entire families of raccoons and one very large, very bold skunk. We lost two camping chairs to the skunks because there was no way to fight them off once they moved into our shelter and, even without spraying, skunks tend to leave a scent behind on anything that’s fabric.

The price is okay in that it is the closest to the national park and the next closest campgrounds are the state park campgrounds (West Branch and Mosquito Lake), but the state park grounds are MUCH nicer and about $15 less per night. If you have the time to drive and can plan your trip months in advance to get reservations, West Branch is a better alternative.

    A ++

Always a great time at West Branch. The staff are very friendly and care a great deal about the quality of everyone's experience - they inspect and clean each site after the sites are vacated. The quiet hours are truly quiet, the bathrooms are very clean and fresh. Decided to rent a pontoon for the day - the boats were also very clean and well kept - they also have the option of an inner tube or jet skis if you want to rent those as well!

    Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

    Great State Park Campground

We just got back from our first trip to Mosquito Lake State Park Campground. All in all, it was a great experience.

We stayed in site 67, which is a waterfront site, with electric. The water is about 25 yards from the pad, but is visible from the entire site. The site was spacious, but not as private as some of the others. There is some woods between this site and the sites on either side, but other sites are visible. The fire pits and picnic tables were staggered, so it created some distance to make it feel more private.

The campground as a whole, was very quiet. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday. The group next to us seemed a little rowdy when we first pulled in, but by 10:00 there was no noise anywhere near us.

Most sites seemed pretty level from side to side, but where we were, several had a slope from front to back. Away from the waterfront, most sites looked pretty level. The amount of space between sites varied from site to site. Some sites had woods on both sides, while others were pretty open. Some had nice large grassy areas, others were much smaller. Sites from 214-224 are in a cul de sac and are water front, but they were pretty close together with very little privacy between sites, if any. They are very close to the water though.

There are bathrooms and water scatter about, but from what I saw there was only 1 shower house.

Wal-mart and other shopping and restaurants were about 3 miles away. Park was easy to get to, only one turn for us off the highway. Lake was great for kayaking and paddleboarding. Very nice dog park in a different part of the park. There is a boat launch accessible from inside the campground.

Dump station has 2 lanes which was nice when checking out. Fresh water fill up was also located near the dump station.

    Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

    Labor Day weekend

Campground was clean and well maintained. Only issue we ran into was that the fire pit was not cleaned out after the last folks. It wasn’t a huge deal but there we had quite a bit of debris and wet ash to deal with. The wash houses scattered throughout are new and very clean. The one across from our site had 4 private bathrooms with a toilet and shower. Very well patrolled and tons of stuff to do within biking/running/driving distance.

    Punderson State Park Campground

Nice camp but services need updated

Nice park, facilities seem clean, my only issues are with the electric hook up not being at least 30 amp for a travel trailer and the sanitation/dump only has one hose for black tank flush and other cleaning necessary for the two stations also bring a water hose with you if you are planning on running water for your fresh tank

What to do

Water activities: Punderson State Park Campground offers kayak rentals and a floating boardwalk for water exploration. "Opportunities for disc golf, archery range, canoeing/kayaking/row boats, swimming (no lifeguard) and golf," notes Rebecca G. The man-made beach provides additional water recreation options.

Hiking trails: West Branch State Park Campground features multiple scenic trails through wooded areas. "There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd," shares Alisa G. The park's extensive trail system accommodates different skill levels and connects to various park amenities.

Disc golf: Several parks offer this increasingly popular activity. "Large beautiful park with lots of amenities. Boat ramp, disc golf, trails, kayak rentals, archery range and more," reports John R. from Punderson State Park. Most courses are free to use with equipment available for rent at camp stores.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Mosquito Lake State Park Campground receives consistent praise for its generous camping areas. "The sites are huge. The dog park is amazing. There's so much to do here. Swimming, boating, fishing. We love it," writes Courtney C. Many sites offer direct lake access for fishing and water activities.

Clean facilities: Kenisee's Grand River Campground maintains high standards for their amenities. "Great RV spot! Loved our short stay, clean & lots to do," says Mary Elisabeth D. The campground features modern restrooms with showers and regular maintenance of common areas.

Pet-friendly options: Many campgrounds welcome four-legged campers. "Dog park is pretty great, too! Good spot to camp for Cuyahoga Falls National Park," notes Kim B. about West Branch State Park. Dedicated pet areas allow dogs to run off-leash while maintaining clean, comfortable spaces for all campers.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Most glamping close to Painesville, Ohio operates with limited schedules. "We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The shower house and bathrooms are large and clean. There is even a book exchange shelf at the shower house in case of rainy days," explains Alisa G. about West Branch State Park. Most parks fully open from May through October with limited winter access.

Site variations: Punderson State Park Campground features significant differences between camping spots. "Really cool 'hill' sites that you have to hike up or down 20-100 feet to your wooded site," explains Daniel U. Campers should check site-specific details before booking as "the sites greatly very on size and flatness so make sure you look at the pictures of the site before you book," advises Joe I.

Reservation requirements: Popular campgrounds fill quickly, especially for summer weekends. "Make reservations! (6 months in advance). Waterside sites fill up quickly!" warns Alisa G. Holiday weekends often require planning 6-12 months ahead for prime locations.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Kenisee's Grand River Campground provides structured entertainment for children. "Stayed here for a girls weekend in Geneva at one of the tent sites. Entertainment provided during the summertime. Several lakes for swimming and fishing," says Rachel K. Many campgrounds offer weekend activities like movie nights or nature programs.

Playgrounds: Multiple camping areas feature dedicated play spaces. "The park is very well maintained, has a nice playground and cute camp store," shares Daniel U. about Punderson. Equipment typically suits children ages 4-12 with safety surfacing underneath.

Nature exploration: The Farm at Grand River offers unique farm-based experiences. "My 6 year old daughter lived her farm animal dream life for a week! My daughter loved the free movie nights under stars, running wild with the goats, and the playgrounds and playhouses kept her busy for hours!" says Hillz M. Many parks also offer junior ranger programs during summer months.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: West Branch State Park presents challenges for some larger rigs. "We were only off 2 inches side to side but front to back we had to lower the front 15 inches. The jack was down as low as it would go and we were still off by 1.5 inches," reports Andrea F. Bringing extra leveling blocks is recommended, especially for sites near water.

Hookup availability: Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA offers full-service sites for RVers. "Sites were gravel and level. We enjoyed full hookups. Cable was better than most but WiFi could be a little weak," notes Sharon J. Many campgrounds offer a mix of partial and full hookup sites with varying amperage options.

Accessibility: Access roads vary significantly between campgrounds. "The site was level and easy to hook up to," reports Scott C. about Streetsboro KOA. Larger rigs should check campground maps for tight turns or low-hanging branches, particularly in older state parks where roads were designed for smaller vehicles.
