Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Williamsburg, OH

East Fork State Park Campground's dedicated pet areas provide ample space for pets to exercise while camping near Williamsburg, Ohio. The park allows pets throughout its developed camping loops, including both electric and full hookup sites suitable for tents and RVs. Stonelick State Park Campground also welcomes pets at its campground with tent sites, RV spots, and pet-friendly cabin options. Both parks enforce standard leash policies requiring dogs to be kept on leashes no longer than 6 feet at all times outside vehicles or camping units. Dogs must not be left unattended and owners are required to clean up after their pets, with waste stations available throughout the grounds. The campground bathrooms are kept extremely clean, which helps maintain a pleasant environment for all campers, including those with pets.

Pet owners appreciate East Fork's extensive trail system, offering 34 miles of combined hiking, biking, and bridle trails where leashed dogs are welcome. The large lake provides opportunities for dogs to cool off in designated areas, though pets must remain leashed even when swimming. Cozy-Dale Campground offers a more intimate setting with pet-friendly cabins and sites between April and October. Visitors note that East Fork's campsites, while not large, provide adequate space for camping with pets once settled in. During peak season, the campground can become quite busy, so early reservations are recommended for those traveling with animals. Caesar Creek State Park Campground provides another nearby option with pet-friendly sites and walking paths specifically suitable for exercising dogs.

    Lebanon-Cincinnati NE KOA

    Fantastic Place

This KOA sets the bar for the Ohio locations we have visited. The bathrooms are amazing and private. The tent site we had was huge and there were actually trees for our suspended tent and hammocks. The dog park wasn’t huge, but larger than most. The campground was completely full but still quiet and peaceful. The staff are amazing.

    Large Campground

Autumn is the best time to camp in Ohio. Lots of small bathrooms. Lake access. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the fact there was no quick reentry. Had to wait for rvs in front of me to register.

    Oak Creek Campground

    Easy place to stop

Nice campground with several pull through sites for big rigs. Pool and new dog park with a very nice play area for the kids. We prefer site 18 which offers nice privacy and os next to a stream.

    East Fork State Park Campground

    Overall great state park

Generous sized campsites, a lot of them are wooded which we prefer, with around 400 sites there are plenty to choose from! Bathroom/shower facilities are updated and usually well maintained. There is a large public beach but it's on the other side of the park so you have to drive all the way around to get to it, no short cuts. They have a camp ground beach but it's been closed the last 2 years. Lots of hiking trails, bridal trails and a bike path. Wish list for this park: Boat rental, dog park, dog beach/water access. Overall a beautiful park.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

    Work in Progress

This is newly opened and a lot of work still needs to be done. Currently there is no dog park, hiking trails or bathhouses like it states. Many of the spots aren’t even finished yet.

When looking at the camp map don’t plan on having access to the creek or river. Your lucky if you can even view it.

The ground is all sand. So while if it rains you won’t get muddy, but the sand is a pain and gets everywhere.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

    Family Atmosphere

This is the best campground we have stayed at. We have been here all summer and we’ve had no complaints. The owners are great people who are always here working and interacting with the campers. Splash pad, pavilion, playground, Gaga pit, and dog park are a few of the great amenities. Each lot has a fire pit and the lots are large. They do activities for the kids every weekend and also have bands! It’s a fun place.

    Family kamp

All in all I think this is an amazing campground for a KOA. It has a jump pad for the kids very small dog park. The sites are very close together but we are here during the week so that’s not an issue. We have cable which is also nice. They have gaga ball a basketball court a laundry area. The roads are gravel and I do have a swimming pool in the summer. The store is great and has pretty much everything that you could need

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

Best full time campground on the Ohio River!

We are full-time RVers and this is by far the best park we've stayed at! It's peaceful and beautiful, everyone (especially Management) is so friendly and fun! The laundry facility is one of the greatest amenities as we've stayed other places without one, so we truly appreciate it! The splash pad is fantastic for children and adults alike! There's a dog park, and a kids kangaroo jump pad as well. The view of the river is beautiful! On weekends there's entertainment and/or cornhole tournaments to bring everyone together. The park is maintained perfectly and I've enjoyed calling it home! By far the best park in Southern Clermont County! Must see!

Maybe they get better later in the season

It’s a KOA, but even for a KOA this one was sub-par. Granted, we visited in late March, and they may not have been at peak season form. But... The entry road is one lane. If you meet another vehicle someone has to back up. That’s just poor design. The roads in the campground need grading. Lots of holes and ruts. The site we were given wasn’t level, and it took a bit of maneuvering to get level. The “dog park” was a mud hole. The internet was extremely slow. And, like all KOAs, sites are very close together! However, on the plus side, the showers, bathrooms and laundry were Done all clean and neat. They have a pool (not open when we visited). Also a large playground, jumping pad and a small store. There was also grass between sites, instead of gravel, which is unusual for a KOA.

Guide to Williamsburg

Campgrounds near Williamsburg, Ohio offer diverse topography with elevations ranging from 800 to 1,100 feet, creating varied camping experiences throughout the seasons. The region sits at the convergence of the East Fork of the Little Miami River and several smaller tributaries, providing water-based recreation opportunities from April through October. Most campgrounds receive 40-45 inches of rainfall annually, making spring camping potentially muddy but lush.

What to do

Mountain biking opportunities: East Fork State Park Campground maintains over 9 miles of dedicated mountain bike trails accessible directly from the campground. "Not a bad little park for mountain biking, hiking, etc," notes Caleb S., who recommends it as a "good beginner park."

Fossil collecting excursions: Caesar Creek State Park Campground issues fossil collection permits for visitors who want to search the exposed limestone beds. A camper explains, "We even got a permit to collect fossils. Great visitor centers too."

Kayaking and canoeing: The numerous lakes and rivers provide excellent paddling options. "The large lake provides opportunities for dogs to cool off in designated areas," while at Cowan Lake State Park Campground, "you can rent a John boat for pretty cheap too."

Mini golf and recreational activities: Several parks offer mini golf and other recreational facilities. One visitor to Kincaid Lake State Park mentions, "Plenty of primitive camping! Few on the lake. Showers, swimming pool, general store inside the park."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise the maintenance of bathhouses and common areas. At Stonelick State Park Campground, a visitor mentioned, "Bath house is clean and modern. There is potable water in multiple sites and a double sided dump station. The staff and the host are very pleasant and helpful."

Spacious sites: Many campsites provide adequate room for equipment and activities. At Caesar Creek State Park, one camper noted, "The sites are big and roomy. Plenty of room for a camper, tents, and outdoor games (cornhole, Kan jam, etc)."

Water recreation access: The proximity to lakes and rivers is a major draw. A visitor to Cowan Lake State Park shared, "A friend and I were able to kayak on the lake the night of a Friday the 13th moon. It was beautiful. The boat ramp and parking lot is easy to use and has a good layout."

Educational programming: Nature centers and interpretive programs enhance the camping experience. At A.J. Jolly Park & Campground, "The park has a lending library and walking stick lending program. I thought these were simple but memorable features for this park."

What you should know

Site selection considerations: Many campgrounds have significant variation between sites. "There was significant variety in the types of sites: some were quite wooded while others were full sun. Some sites were much larger than others," observed a Cowan Lake State Park visitor.

Seasonal limitations: Most dog friendly campgrounds near Williamsburg operate with restricted schedules. "Cozy-Dale Campground offers a more intimate setting with pet-friendly cabins and sites between April and October."

Topographic challenges: Leveling equipment can be challenging at some locations. A visitor to Kincaid Lake State Park Campground advised, "The campground is good for tent camping but iffy for others. I would definitely bring extra leveling blocks."

Distance between amenities: At some parks, facilities are widely dispersed. "Not alot else to see. Close to food and shopping areas," mentioned one East Fork State Park visitor, while another noted, "The State Park is on one side of the Lake and the Campground is on the other. There is no public road between the two."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Multiple campgrounds feature play areas for children. At Cozy-Dale Campground, "the kids can fish run around there's a large playground and horseshoes and a basketball hoop. The bathrooms are extremely clean the whole campsite is extremely clean."

Bike-friendly terrain: Many campgrounds have safe biking areas for children. "It is small enough to let my kids roam a bit on their bikes and feel comfortable not having eyes on them 24/7," shared a parent about Stonelick State Park.

Educational opportunities: Several parks offer nature programs specifically designed for younger campers. "The nature center offered movies in the evening for guest," noted an East Fork State Park visitor, adding that "trails were well marked and the camp hosts were very friendly."

Safety considerations: For families with small children, site selection matters. A visitor to Stonelick State Park mentioned, "Our spot was right next to a small Pollinator trail that lead to the water. My little ones had a blast riding their scooters around the round about."

Tips from RVers

Pad size and layout: Concrete pads vary significantly in size and usability. At A.J. Jolly Park, one RVer noted, "Pads are about 12 x12 concrete so that's a plus but the location of the pads if you want to use your RV awning means your wheels in what ever your using are going to be nearly off the level area or in the grass."

Utility placement: The location of hookups can create challenges. "Water hook ups are on the opposite side of electrical on several sites," observed an RVer at A.J. Jolly Park.

Connectivity options: Cell service and internet vary widely. At East Fork State Park, "for a park so close to a large city (Cincinnati), I was surprised the cell service was so lacking (on Verizon). We eked out one and occasionally two bars of 4G."

Seasonal site differences: Tree coverage changes significantly between seasons at some campgrounds. At Cowan Lake, "Our campsite didn't have any trees but they have planted a lot of new trees. I assume this due the previous trees having to be cut down due to Emerald Ash borer damage."
