Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Friendship, OH

Very friendly people and my dog loved the dog park.

Just a beautiful park. Clean well maintained. Lots of amenities. Paddle boats, marina, 18 hole disc golf, bike park, huge dog park, store,archery range, playground and trails.

Got there in April and basically no one was there which was awesome. Although we did lose our long haired cat named Trouble, she has her collar and chip but there were dogs around and she never came back. Attached is a picture. Other than the weather and losing Trouble it was great.

This drive in camp site is a pay only and it’s best to call a couple weeks before your trip to reserve you spot! You can tent camp, pop up, or set up your pull behind. Twin Knobs is very clean and spacious campsites and most are on the water! This campground has basketball courts, a beach area, restrooms and more. Pet friendly but must stay on a leash.

A lot of their sites have full hook up but not all of them. Read the details of the sites when booking. Some of the sites have really steep grades and aren’t big rig friendly.

Check in was a breeze had out car tags on our post.

They do have a full-time camp host on site.

I didn’t use the shower 🚿 house but they do have a couple on the grounds.

They have a putt putt course but bring your own putter and ball.

There is Verizon service but it’s spotty.

They do have WiFi but it’s very slow and not secure.

Place is very pet friendly. The people we have met here are great.

Sites are wide but really close together.

We arrived on Friday afternoon a little before check in time and were allowed to check in and go to our site. We stayed on campsite 61 which is just long enough for a 23ft camper and our truck to park next to the camper. The drop down from the pad was a little steep with no stairs. The campground is very well kept and free of litter. The view from our campfire was an amazing 100ft drop off to the creek below. The campground was very well set up for many different types of recreational vehicles and RVs. The trails start right at the campground by site 86. The camp hosts were very nice and helpful. The only problem we had was that the campground was sold out of firewood and we drove down to Friendship to buy it at the gas station. The dumpsters are not in the campground but just outside in a parking lot by the beach.

Nice little place. Nearby town is absolutely not dog friendly. No dogs allowed in many of the parks.

Great hosts but make sure in your reservation to specify grill or fireplace.

This little jewel is an actual island surrounded by the Little Sandy River in Greenup, KY.  We fished al day and night.  Caught a bunch of fish and had a catfish fry.  The mountain views are awesome and for once it wasn't another RV parking lot.  We go with our grandson and dogs every weekend!

KOA staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were able to stay extra days with out any problems. It was A practice run for us since we just started camping . For our first adventure every thing worked out fine. The campground has miniature golf , A playground, A fenced area for dogs a pond and A swimming pool.

Overall great experience. Stayed at the yogi bear resort in Mount Gilead. I did not like the campsite it was all pea gravel and no grass for our two dogs that we brought. The staff were all great and the park was kept clean. There was tons of activities for kids all day every day that the majority of them were free. Great experience.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Scarlet Oak campground. Drove and checked out the other two campgrounds which were also nice. Some sites are really small and some are right along the road. Not crowded at all during our visit. Some sites are sloped from slight to more severe. We did have to take our camper off our truck (truck camper) in order to get level. Our site had a large “yard” and trees. All great for our two big dogs. Site had w/e.

This place is new and under great ownership. Justin took the evening call, guided us in then got us quickly settled and told us “ the just right “ amount of info on the campsite and area. The tent sites are very cool. They have a large flat grassy area with lots of sites right beside the river. The RV sites are new, drive through and flat , with electric , and water. There something cool to be facing the cornfield and being in unique open space. Our dog loved it !

I grew up going here while in Boy Scouts. The caves are free to explore on your own. There are a few that you aren't permitted to enter. There is a water cave where you have to wade trough chest deep water to get through it. There are the crawl caves where you are mainly on your knees and belly the entire time. The bat caves where there are hundreds of bats. Hot dog cave where you have to climb up a tree trunk to get into it. The camping is good. There is a State park general store that sales camping essentials if needed. On wknds they play movies on the side of one of the cave walls. This place is an awesome place to take young teenagers. they will have the time of their lives exploring caves.

We’ve had a permanent site at Long’s for a couple of years now. My wife and kids want to live there for the summer, and I sure can’t argue. There is LOTS to do. Swimming, water slides, canoeing, go-cart racing, mini golf, and a full arcade give plenty of variety. Of course, relaxing by the campfire, grilling hot dogs and making s’mores is really what makes the time with the kids special. The owners are wonderful people who take pride in what they do, and very carefully select the right people to be part of their team. The showers and bathrooms are always squeaky clean and the grounds are exceptionally well maintained. I’ve found permanent campers and weekenders alike to be a great group of folks. Long’s Reatreat is the perfect place to unplug and unwind.

A lovely campground that is well-maintained and very peaceful. We opted for a site with electricity and it had a nice level pad for our trailer and truck, a fire ring, a picnic table and post for our lantern. The campground itself is quite large, taking up the whole peninsula, there are not many public areas to access the beach for swimming, but there are a few moderate to easy hiking trails and during our visit other than ice and firewood there was nothing available as the store was closed. We were at our campsite at the beginning of May, and I will say be very careful as I pulled more ticks off of myself and my dog than I ever have in my life, so be sure to triple check.

It's a a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the Ohio river. Can't wait to go back.

This is one of the most relaxing campground we have ever been to. It was so nice camping right on the Ohio River,watching barges go by.
