    Letchworth State Park Campground

A little gem with a lot to do

Cabin campers here at letchworth for the past two years. We stumbled on cabin camping at letchworth due to weekends being booked for almost the entire summer for tent spots. the cabins are spacious, with bunk beds, a stove, fridge, and a fire place. i thought they might be close together, yet they were all pretty private, with a fire ring and picnic table. There was a beautiful updated playground, and clean bathrooms. Last summer they had just opened the new nature center with guided hikes, and activities all summer long.

Great for the falls, swimming, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking and so much more!

    Retreat at Fern Hill

    Clean, private, swimming!

Stayed here multiple times. Cabin is clean, large firepit, huge patio, great swimming pond with a slide. Cabin included many kitchen items as well as there being a full size freezer/fridge, tables and chairs on the patio. Pet Friendly but no fenced area.

    Flint Creek Campgrounds

Great activities, friendly hosts, full hook ups!

Close to wine country you will find this gem of a family campground. Dog and kid friendly with activities such as wagon rides, arts and crafts, movie night and various themed weekend events. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming during our entire stay. An easy back in site with full hookups (B10) backed against a row of trees and a field that provided much entertainment of squirrels and birds. There is a camp store with very reasonable prices and accepts credit cards. Wood ($4) and ice ($2) are also for sale. There are two small cabins to rent along with a couple of family tent sites. The bathrooms/showers were clean near the camp store. Amenities include a pool, mini golf ($1/person), two playgrounds, horseshoes, a recreation center with games and movies, basketball and shuffle board. There are many seasonal campers at this campground, but all seemed friendly and welcoming as well. It truly seemed like one big happy family there.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

    Cute cabins and amazing views

We stayed in a cute cabin with running water, a stove, and a heater for cold nights! Outside we had a picnic table and a campfire pit. The park itself has amazing hiking with awesome views. Highly recommend!

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Wonderful!

Great secluded tent camping (recomend numbers 7 and 8), cabins are new and ample beds and space. Camper camping is close to everything, but less privacy. Numerous pavilions that are wonderful for parties or weddings. Stunning overlook that is breathtaking (also great for weddings). Hiking, bike trails, fishing pond, playground, open fields for sports, much more!!! Great for photo shoots, weekend stress getaways etc. I live close by and visit a few times a month.

    Conesus Lake Campground

Camping with amenities, close to fun

This is your typical Mom and Pop family campground, there are rules to follow but they do not hinder on your experience. They have a well stocked camp store, boat rentals, golf cart rentals, an indoor heated pool, jump pad, playgrounds, a hiking trail and frisbee golf. The bottom portion of the campground has mostly seasonal campers and cabins. You do have to go up a pretty steep hill to get to the 'transient' camping section, but there are many pull through, level, full hook up sites to choose from. ( We had site 250 and really liked it) The bathrooms were toilet/shower combos and were very clean. Attractions close by is a drive-in with 4 different screens, many places to eat, parks ( Vitale Park was really nice), a fun center with mini golf, go carts, batting cages, laser tag and arcade. We also experienced the local flea market in Avon, NY. It's HUGE!

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

Guide to Wyoming

Cabin camping near Wyoming, New York offers diverse accommodations within the scenic countryside of Western New York. Elevation across the region ranges from 850 to 1,400 feet, creating varied terrain for recreation with numerous hiking trails connecting lake views and woodlands. Most cabins in the area remain open from early May through mid-October, with peak reservation periods falling between June and August.

What to do

Hiking the gorge trails: At Letchworth State Park Campground, trails connect directly from campsites to the main gorge areas. "The campgrounds are in two main areas of the park and further broken down into many different loops. The loops near the Lower Falls are our favorites, but any choice is a good one. All are close to the gorge/river and wooded, and connect to trails directly from your campsite," notes Harry H.

Winter and off-season visits: Some cabin facilities maintain extended seasons. "I love taking visitors here in all seasons but in autumn it is exceptional," shares Amber A. about Letchworth State Park. The fall colors typically peak in early-to-mid October, making it an optimal time for cabin stays when summer crowds have diminished.

Water recreation options: Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground offers multiple water activities from their lake and saltwater pool. "Lots of activities available for both kids and adults. Cozy sites. Clean bathrooms near the campground store," notes Sydney W. The lake allows for swimming, fishing, and boating from May through September.

Frisbee golf course access: Several parks in the region offer disc golf opportunities. "Many nature trails, visitors center, swimming pool, beautiful sunsets, fishing, well sized campsites," Amanda K. reports about Beaver Meadow Family Campground, adding that it has recently expanded its disc golf course.

What campers like

Private outdoor spaces: Many cabin campers appreciate having dedicated outdoor areas. "We had a site that was 'lake view' which was funny because it's a pond. It was stocked so fishing was fun," says Sara D. about Beaver Meadow Family Campground. Most cabins include exterior sitting areas with fire rings.

Heated pool facilities: Indoor and outdoor pools extend the swimming season. "The campground was nice and clean, the staff was very friendly, and the pool was nice. Only complaint is nature. The hill is a killer! But that problem was solved by renting a golf cart!" Marissa R. explains about Conesus Lake Campground.

Well-stocked camp stores: Many campgrounds maintain stores with essential supplies. "They have a well stocked camp store, boat rentals, golf cart rentals, an indoor heated pool, jump pad, playgrounds, a hiking trail and frisbee golf," shares Sheri S. about Conesus Lake Campground. Most stores stock firewood, ice, basic groceries, and camping supplies.

Seasonal activities: Holiday weekends feature special programming. "We went during their Christmas in July weekend. They had a good list of activities from cookie decorating to visits with Santa. The store is small, but fairly priced," notes Stephanie B. about Woodstream Campsite.

What you should know

Terrain challenges: Some campgrounds feature significant elevation changes. "The hill is a killer! But that problem was solved by renting a golf cart!" cautions Marissa R. about Conesus Lake Campground. Golf cart rentals typically range from $45-65 per day depending on campground and season.

Seasonal site limitations: Not all sites remain accessible year-round. "Six Flags Darien Lake Campground maintains year-round cabins, open from May through October," while smaller campgrounds may have shorter seasons with limited late fall availability.

Bathroom facilities vary: Amenities range from shared facilities to private bathroom units. "The bathrooms are practically luxurious by most camping standards, with single-use restroom/showers available at all hours," shares Shari G. about Letchworth State Park. Other campgrounds offer more standard facilities with quarter-operated showers.

Proximity to attractions: The Ridge Campsite offers convenient access to surrounding recreation. "Campground is large and spacious. Family owned. Large mature trees. Clean facilities. Lots of activities and amenities if you are interested in that," notes Carol M.

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning for children: Jellystone Park™ of Western New York organizes family-friendly programming. "This place is great for a family. Water park, fishing, kayaking, swimming. It has it all. We went on the 4th of July and they had amazing fireworks and activities galore for the kids," says Matthew M.

Playground options: Multiple play areas keep children entertained. "Quiet relaxing atmosphere, lots of hiking trails and family friendly with parks and a pool for the kids to play," notes Lisa M. about Letchworth State Park. Most campgrounds with cabin accommodations include at least one playground area.

Multi-generational considerations: Cabin camping suits diverse age groups. "When we lived in Rochester we'd take out of town guests either here or to Watkins Glen. The park itself is fantastic. The campgrounds are basic and very nice given the relatively high popularity," explains Harry H.

Advance planning required: Family-friendly cabins book quickly during peak season. "This is a JEWEL. Book early. Bring your hiking shoes & camera. The gorge is spectacular. Try to get to the balloon fest on Memorial Day - and book a flight if you can," advises Rebecca E. about Letchworth State Park.

Tips from RVers

Site access considerations: Campgrounds have varying entrance conditions. "Driveway getting in and out is a little tight for big units, definitely have to swing wide. Sites are very big and clean has plenty to do with multiple fishing ponds, swimming pool and playgrounds," explains Nick O. about The Ridge Campsite.

Road conditions: Internal road surfaces affect mobility. "Roads are not paved making it difficult for kids riding bikes," Amanda K. mentions about Beaver Meadow Family Campground. Some campgrounds maintain gravel roads while others feature paved surfaces for easier navigation.

Hookup availability: Most cabin areas include electric service. "Nice amenities. Not relaxing. We have moved on after our family and friends didn't even want to come visit due to this," notes Kimbey S., highlighting the importance of checking specific cabin amenities before booking.
