    Rockhound State Park Campground

    Rockhounding campground perfection

This campground it tucked right up against the Florida mountains. It is clean and quiet.

Every site is level, and graveled. They all have trash cans, picnic tables under shelter, fire rings and grills. Electrical hookups and water.

The sites are HUGE! We came with friends and we both stayed in the same site with our camper and travel trailer. Although only one can use the electricity and water. It was only $10 for the extra camper.

Clean bathrooms and showers. The host was helpful and was attentive.

It does say you can collect 15 pounds of rocks but we were told only 5 rocks per visitors. There all sorts of trails for visitors to walk and collect.

The visitors center is close and the staff was helpful.

You CAN NOT just show up here to camp. You have to have a reservation, we arrived to rock hound and decided just to look and there were 3 sites available so we booked and stayed, this was the end of October. Really glad we did this is one of the best campgrounds I have been to.

Cell coverage was great, dog are welcomed and the night sky was unbelievable.

Be sure to drive the 15 minutes to the Adobe Deli, food was phenomenal and the buildings are worth checking out.

If you like camping and rocks you need to check this place out!

    Silver City KOA

Peaceful KOA Gem Near Historic Silver City

The Silver City KOA is a wonderful place to stay! The staff are friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Sites are well-maintained with plenty of space, and the amenities — from spotless restrooms to a cozy camp store — make it easy to relax. It’s also a perfect base for exploring Gila Cliff Dwellings and downtown Silver City. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable stay in southwest New Mexico!

    Bowlin's Butterfield Station RV Park

    Not worth $24

Might be worth $12. We did find electric site that worked and a water spigot. The whole area is overrun by goat's head sandburs so keep dogs in. Noisy of course but tolerable. We won't stop again to stay.

    Cattlemen Trail - Dispersed Camping

A little too low desert for me, but still nice!

Easy access, plenty of hidden spots behind/among the scrub brush and low trees. This is lower desert so there won’t be any tall pines/sprices, but still a few slightly shady spots for the sides of your camper to stay cooler.

City of Rocks State Park Campground

Little known Gem! One of our favorites

We've stayed here several times since 2021. It really is a little known campground that is a hidden gem. Biked to the paek on the last stay. Small hikes and a blast for the kids to explore the rock formations. We've stayed at several sites. This last time we stayed at the RV sites with hookups. No dump station on site. There are very clean bathrooms and showers though.

    Low Hi RV Ranch

    Great place!

Very nice hosts and accommodating. Wide pull through and back ins, very reasonable rates! Saw some very recent damage from an overnight bad storm but easy recovery. Stayed here several times and always good. Pretty area and beautiful views, just a little off the beaten path (only about 5 miles) if looking for a quick overnight stop. But if wanting to stay a bit-great spot!

    Safari Campsite

    Sufficient, but small and mediocre

This site is just a relatively short turn-off road with a loop for turning around and a small, non-dedicated area for pitching a tent as far as I could tell. If you have a camper/RV/van, then it should work fine, but it’s not the best for tent camping. I made it work, but wasn’t super excited about it. Also, there was a bit of trash left behind when I was there, but it wasn’t necessarily a dump.

Getting to this spot was convenient since it is right off a paved road. There was a bit of car noise here and there, but it wasn’t bad. I heard coyotes singing nearby (from multiple directions) in the evening, but didn’t actually see any wildlife.

In all, it was alright. Not horrible, not great, just sufficient.

    Rockhound State Park Campground

    Be sure to register online

Camp was clean and quiet with lots of available spaces midweek. You have to have a reservation prior to arrival. And don’t get confused and fill out the paper registration at the entrance. That is for day picnicking
