Perfect parkR.V.

Perfect location, perfect hosts… this park is very nice. Super friendly and HELPFUL staff. Really the best of the best. So nice, I want to keep it secret… sneak in! Haha!

Beautiful, can be windy

It’s absolutely stunning to camp at the peak of a mountain. You have 360 views of the region, but beware, the wind can get quite torrential and there is not a ton of shade but there is some!

Blessing

Due to New Mexico Governor’s decision to close state owned campgrounds, we scrambled to find a place to stay prior to visiting White Sands…thank you BLM!!

This area provided a peacefully quiet landscape with expansive views of the lava valley and a memorable sunset. The area was well maintained and offered a 1-mile informational loop hike through the lava field. First Come, First Serve with pay at entrance envelopes.

Flush toilets and showers were unfortunately locked due to the state’s covid ordinance and there was no management on site, but there were multiple potable water pumps and pit toilets available.

Terrific waypoint between Carlsbad Cavern and White Sands.

Beautiful!

This campground has a very nice host that keeps the campground sparkling! There are sites with electric and water. And very nice primitive sites also. Great views of Valley from all sites. Showers were clean and free! Very clean dump station. Close proximity to many other areas of interest that made for great day trips. Lovely section for tent campers just past the RV camping. Quite a few big rigs.

Breathtaking View

Honestly this site is now one of my favorites. Lots of camping spots and great hiking trails to go on! Gets a little windy since you’re at the top, but totally worth it!

Very nice BLM campground !!

We love BLM campgrounds and this one is no exception!

Extremely clean.

Site hosts/stewards were replaced by BLM on Oct 23, 2020.

At least until Oct 23, 2020, when new hosts/stewards assigned: EXCELLENT!

Opened for overnight camping on Oct 1, 2020, having been open only for day use (8am-5pm) previously, due to CoViD-19.   Hosts/stewards kept Site, including flush toilet restrooms, extremely clean;  these hosts were replaced by BLM Oct 23.

There are only 2 RV sites (pull-through).  They have electric (30&50) plus water;  no sewer.

There are 4 tent boxes.

There are 8 (?) shelters, 1 of which is ACCESS designated.

There is 1 group site, for which reservation must be made with the Las Cruces BLM Office (see website for phone).

All other camping is on a first come, first served basis.

This is a Federal fee area.

Dogs are only allowed in the campground area, and must be on a 6-foot or shorter leash if outside the vehicle.

Very welcoming, fastidiously clean and maintained

We stopped for an overnight stay while driving cross country, solely based on reviews here. We found it to be a whimsical, very relaxing place. Eclectic decor is artistic and harmonious with the setting-never forced or tawdry like so many others. Owners were quite engaged and helpful, and graciously permitted us to move to a longer site so as not to require unhitching our trailer. Facilities are very complete, well appointed and maintained. Surprisingly high water pressure!

Home away from home

Has been our number 1 go to location for almost 10 years now. Started in tents…then pop up…now a travel trailer. The park hosts are always extremely friendly and helpful. When they greet you by name upon stepping out of your vehicle… that tells you a lot. My family and I will continue enjoying our getaways to BHRV till we can't no more! Love it!
