What to do
Riverside recreation: At Ashuelot River Campground, water activities are popular during summer months. "Awesome campground with two of the greatest host/owners Chuck and Laura. We have been coming here for years and always enjoy the time spent here. Beautiful river to float down or paddle up. Saw a bald eagle this past weekend while paddling up past the campground," notes Michael M.

"We spent the weekend during a chilly damp weekend and had the best time. We were right on the pond, so the kids could fish whenever. Lots of hiking trails (the dogs loved it). Can't wait to come back next year and explore the lake along the hike," shares Richard W.

What you should know
Site selection: Some cabin locations offer more privacy than others. "The Grove and Hemlock Heights are particularly nice areas with more spacious, wooded and quiet sites. The Safari Field and more central full hook-up sites were pretty crammed," notes Erin M. about Swanzey Lake Camping Area.
Seasonal variations: Weather conditions vary significantly throughout the operating season. "Having good weather, we took a lazy tube ride from one side of the campground to the other. It has been quite dry in the area, so they are experiencing a drought. However, a little rain in the week got the river moving a bit," explains Rae-Ann W.
Wildlife encounters: Local wildlife is active in cabin areas. "SURPRISE- when I went to hook up the water, a pile of fresh bear scat was right there! They did say there was wildlife in the area!" reports Ralph L. at Kampfires.

Tips from RVers
Site access: Access roads to some cabin areas have specific restrictions. Brattleboro North KOA is "a nice small campground right off Route 5. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, if you need a place to rest for a weekend stop here," advises Jason A.
Parking limitations: Vehicle restrictions apply at most cabin locations. "Can only park one vehicle on site due to fire safety laws which means one of your cars is across the street in overflow, so not really convenient," explains Sarah B.
Covered bridge awareness: Some access routes have height and weight limitations. "Follow the website directions to get here as there are covered bridges in the area with low Clearance and low weight limits," advises John L.
