Nice location, very close RV sites

Cute campground and they are doing a lot of work to the streets and tent sites. However, as others have said, the electric hookup RV sites are right on top of each other. We were awakened on the middle of the night to our neighbor’s son coughing and crying. They do have electric and water (one spicket shared between 2 sites). The water is very low flow. They have an RV dump area with water in the non electric camping area. There is a cute 1 mile trail to the mountain being the coyote creek.

Great visit

I love Coyote Creek! I love that it has covered and partially enclosed picnic tables. We have been coming for years and they seem to keep improving the park. Always is clean. The camp host was friendly and helpful. Will be back in July. We were there in May 2023. Love having the river close. Glad that they have electric sites other than the loop.

Good Campsite

Campsite well maintained, lots of ground to walk, creek nearby for fishing. Awesome bathroom. Only a 4 star as way too much traffic rolling by on main dirt road to other parts of park and creek. And not enough shade. Couldn’t set up my awning as the ground was extremely rocky and cement like. Campsites had bits of trash from other campers. So I practiced the “Pack it in, pack it out” method….even from previous campers.

Gold Panning

Stopped here after talking to camp host at Morphy Lake. Said that the creek might have some gold in it and easy access, so we tried it out. Found a few specks! Park was very nice. We only spent the day but it was a perfect spot!

Nice but would be better in spring/fall

I came in on a Saturday and stayed three nights in the electric area. I reserved the last electric site which turned out to be wheelchair accessible. I hadn't seen that when making the res.It was bigger and off to the side, away from the row of RV park style sites.   I rode my bike around and saw that the primitive sites where really nice, up on the ridges and some had water, most had covered picnic tables. Pretty area. But the electric area on Sat and Sun was noisy. Someone decided on Saturday that the whole loop would enjoy his favorite style of music. How can some people think all the rest of us are going to enjoy their music? Ticks me off. I hope their rig burns down. Can you believe he actually started to sing along!

Surrounded by evergreen covered mountains

Very strange, cramped, set up for electric sites in first loop. Packed together like sardines. Other than that, it is nice campground. Looks like a big fishing spot along the creek. Site 20 has very nice views.

We loved our stay here

This was our first outing in a truck and camper shell. Even though it was the weekend (a couple days after) of the Fourth of July we got a good spot and there was actually empty spaces next to us. I think all the sites have their own picnic tables and many of them have shelters over the tables. This came in handy since it rained while we were there. There is a large field that gets mowed and great for kids to play. There’s also a small playground. The stream was nice and my boyfriend caught a couple of fish. There’s also a small trail that goes up the mountain and around the campground. It was a fairly easy trail for us 20-something’s and we did it in about an hour or shorter. We really liked their main bathroom! It had heaters that kept it warm and they were really clean. Next time we will try out their showers. We really enjoyed that it offered almost everything we needed and at a great price compared to KOA camps!

Remote location

Windy road to a fairly secluded campground. There is a cute stream that runs right next to the campground. The bathrooms were ok and it was nice to have a shower. We didn't have fishing poles with us, but saw others that were having some luck.

Another New Mexico Gem

Coyote Creek is a great place to escape for the weekend. The fishing is great, scenery is amazing, and it is quiet! This campsite is located in a valley along a small creek, if it is a drought year, there won't be much water. There aren't many trees around the creek so it doesn't feel as "foresty" but it is still in the mountains. The bathrooms/showers are really nice as well but located quite a ways from the creek. There are camping spots up by the bathroom as well that have more coverage and privacy. As usual with New Mexico camping, bring everything you need because stores are not close by and usually close early in the day. The road to get to coyote creek is really narrow and windy so allow plenty of time to get there before dark.
