Las Vegas Bay Campground is located just minutes from Las Vegas on the western edge of the park and has lush vegetation that shades nearly every campsite. There is a mix of palm trees, oleanders, mature cottonwood trees and native vegetation that also helps provide privacy between sites. Wildlife in the area includes many species of birds and lizards along with antelope squirrels and the occasional coyote.
Located in a ghost town outside of Las Vegas, the Retro camper sits in the desert hills with beautiful mountain views. Walking distance to hiking trails, bike trails, and the famous Pioneer Saloon. Near wild horses, jackrabbits, and other wildlife. The camper is also a perfect place for stargazing.
The camper has one full size bed and sleeps up to two people. There is also room on the property for a tent. Toilet and shower are available, shower is cold water only.

Granted, the only other Thousand Trails I stayed at was in Acton, CA. It was in a lush green/wooded area and it was well maintained. This place was pretty tight to move around and the spots are not the greatest size. Starts off at $51 a night but has all the usually Thousand Trails amenities. I did notice they do upcharge a few bucks if you are using 50amp. They do have full hookups and cabins on site. Area not the greatest, but you must go through the gate to get inside, so a little secure. When you are entering in the park, just be mindful that you have to turn right after a yellow mobile home parts store. The driveway is a little hidden.

Quiet beautifully maintained campground with a dump station, portable water, spigots near restrooms and flush toilets. Firings and picnic tables at each site. Very few sites for rigs over 26’. A few larger sites are offered, but be certain to check what size can be accommodated. Most sites are wide enough to park a 26’ trailer and tow vehicle side-by-side. Some vegetation but not much shade. This is the desert! One beautiful trail about a mile and a half long starts behind campsite number 74.Just minutes from the city of Henderson with all the shopping you could ask for and a short distance but LOTS of traffic to the Las Vegas Strip. Hoover Dam is about 30 mins and Valley of Fire 1.3 hours.
TravelerThis park does not really deserve the word "Resort" as a title. Many of the spaces are so cramped you can't even put an awning or a chair out unless it is in front of your rig. The sites are so tight that some only have an inch or two of separation between neighbors. The staff actually asks the width of your rig at check in and even assists some people backing into the tiny spaces.
The restrooms and laundry room were dark and cramped. I can get that experience in my own RV. The park overall looked dirty and drab. The pool area was really nice and well maintained with a heated pool and simple lounge area. It was nice to be able to relax for a moment and melt into the warm sunny days until a shadow of a plane and the heavy rumble of its engines wakes you from your day dream. Chase that startled moment with the sounds of first responder sirens constantly blaring to save another person from getting swallowed up in Las Vegas statistics.
The WiFi in the lodge was pretty good, as far as RV parks go. That is, if you can get past the funky smell that greets your nose in the lodge. Sort of like old reheated picante beef Cup of Noodles freshly pulled from the microwave. The polite staff as we entered and left the park were always a joy to catch up with as we snapped incredible pictures of fiery sunsets behind the leafy branches of swaying palm trees.
The redeeming quality of this park is its location to The Strip, only ten minutes east and a few minutes more to Fremont. With a little over an hour's drive north you can visit Valley of Fire State Park for an amazing day of hiking and exploring. You can even catch a glimpse of petroglyphs scribbled on the vibrant red faces of massive boulders and cliffs.
Like I said, there is some good and some bad to rightfully earn that balanced 3 stars. @RoarksVentures stayed here in March, 2018. We were grateful to experience the place, both its pros and cons, while traveling through Nevada.
GuideWe stayed at this park twice while passing North and South of Las Vegas. It's a no frills Thousand Trails park that could use some updating. The spaces are very tight together partially because the occupants don't follow the site lines on the ground. We saw several that parked on the line and extended their slide outs into the area of the next RV'er, therefore, they were unable to extend their awning. Car parking is chaos, again because no one seems to stay within the space lines painted on the ground. We had difficulty even backing into our site because of the way the next door neighbor parked his rig and vehicle. They finally saw us struggling and came out to move their car. There is noise from a busy road behind the park and it's in the path of the airport. Between the noise and the close quarters, we were ready to move on after a week. The laundry rooms were decent but twice we found washers to be out of order. Showers are OK. Dog park is half grass and half dirt. Pool was closed when we arrived but looks nice. Some annual or seasonal sites could use some clean up. Looked like they were storing everything they owned outside.

LegendSo this place needs a total update for sure. I would have given it a lower grade than I did but they do have some pros… Yes If you are pro dyrt member you get discounts but the spots are nothing special and the roads could be repaved, the lots are rocks and gravel and are decent, the tables look as if they have never been replaced and are all lifting and very unsafe to sit on let alone put a cup on that wouldn’t spill… they are horrible. The reason they got a 3 was that the security is great! This place is in a bad part of town but I must say the security getting in is very well handled and not only do you have a guard and gate you must check-in and it’s literally one way in and out so that safety factor is really neat for families. It’s shaded and doesn’t really offer much, but a place in Las Vegas to try out your RV with a pool and playground for kids. A few different dog walk areas with bags and a trash can.
Here are my star ratings based on my lifestyle and what I like. I'm also a mother, dog mama, and a wife so it's not just me it's my crew and i. 1 star- AUTOMATIC relocate… the property is no longer there, trashed or/and I could never have my children there and I wouldn't ever think about staying no matter what. 2 star- Not really my jam, and would NEVER go to again… It probably more of desert life and not really my style for sure…Being from Vegas I can't stand being in the desert and I love the Trees and the Green more than anything. 3 star- Would stay there again in a pinch, but not really my style, the reason its not is because not enough family things to do, the scenery, or the location… but I would go again and feel safe having my kiddos here but only if I needed to in a pinch. 4 star- a really good rating for sure, maybe needed some improvements, minor things like being on top of each other, not a lot of privacy, but honestly little cosmetic things that aren't anything to sweat and would be back again for sure. 5 star- MY FAVORITE… love the location, safety, the surroundings, big camp spots available to fit toys for my kids to play, hammocks to hang, our big family tent, cases of firewood, our suburban or RV, etcccccc….. ScoutThis RV park is a typical thousand trails park. Kind of dumpy, super tight spots, not well maintained, and not in the best area. The spots are packed in tight with very little room to park your vehicle. Our spot was next to a fire hydrant so we had a little extra room to park our truck but we were 1 of 2. The spots are gravel and ours was very hard to get level in even with auto level.. we had SO many leveling blocks under the back. No bench, no fire pit, nothing extra. There was trash at our site, which seemed pretty standard. We barely had cell service the whole time (T-Mobile) and there is no free WiFi, it’s extra. We also had to pay extra for a 50 amp site (which was necessary to run our AC because it was so hot). The pool was very small, not heated, deteriorating, but clean at least. There are 3 laundry facilities and only 4 working washers and 4 working dryers in the whole 200+ spot campground spread out over 3 different buildings. This made for long waits to do any laundry. There is no change machine on site and they offer the wash connect app, but the app can’t find 6/8 machines which is a problem. Lots of trailer park looking trailers with junk, trash, and permanent structures built on. The campground is gated which is nice because it’s not in the best area and they have barbed wire around the whole thing.
Overall, we would stay here again if we had to, because it was free but it is definitely a pretty dumpy campground.
ScoutThe park is ok. The bathrooms are clean, parking spots are super small. The only thing I really don't like about this Thousand Trails is the location. It doesn't feel safe at all. You can hear gunshots in the middle of the night. I own a converted van and I like to walk or take my electric scooter to run errands. I did not feel comfortable walking about a mile to Walgreens I felt like I was gonna get mugged at any moment.

RangerThis is a decent campground, but they pack people in like sardines, and the stalls are very close. Expect that you will have to move your truck occasionally so people can park/leave. They have a pool, spa and a dog area. It is centrally located and eat to get to the strip for some great food and fun.
RangerQuiet and clean, but tight fit for our 40ft IP. Our spot was on the end and leveling was easy. We did have to unhitch our tow but it still fit right in front our coach. great for overnight for us.
GuideThis is a Thousand Trails RV Resort located in the city of Las Vegas. The park is large and the sites are pretty tight. It does fit large rigs, but your neighbors are close, and it is FHU. There are a lot of full-timers at this park. The RV resort is decently maintained and has multiple laundry facilities and restrooms. There is a large heated pool and a nice deck area for relaxing. They have large, fenced dog run that could be cleaner. There is also an office and community room where there is live music and other entertainment during the week. This park does have tiny houses for rent and they are well kept. It is in a decent location, close to shopping and casinos. Downtown Las Vegas is just a couple miles away and a quick drive. The resort is located on busy roads which can be noisy at times. There is a ranger station at the entrance and security. The park had some issues with electricity being rewired and they were currently down 86 spots, but we were told they would be fixed soon. Overall, a nice park and a good stay close to everything.

GuideWe are fairly new to the Thousand Trails membership and started our travels in August 2020 with our first stop at Tall Chief near Seattle. We jumped between TT campgrounds all year. Every person we met gave us great recommendations. But, when we mentioned we were staying here everyone always scrunched their faces and said to stay somewhere else. We stay for free with TT so figured it couldn't be THAT bad. We were wrong... this place is pretty rough and should probably lose it's TT designation.
I will say the staff were all friendly enough but still pretty gruff at best. The park itself is bad. The walls around the premises are just cinder block with barbed wire at the top with trash blowing in the wind on them. The neighborhood itself looks a bit sketchy but it is adjacent to a hotel, a large retirement community, and a few businesses. So I don't think it's as sketch as it looks at first glance.
The bathrooms look pretty run down and the park was pretty ripped up for construction. Hopefully it hasn't been sitting that way for long. The pool didn't look very inviting. The place definitely isn't secure. You can just drive right on in at any time. There were a LOT of busted up RVs and travel trailers. Some even had sides replaced with plywood. Many spots were filled with garbage. Some spaces had 3-5 cars parked at them. For a Thousand Trails there doesn't appear to be any requirements on what is allowed to be parked here. If Thousand Trails wants people to actually join TT you'd think they'd want their parks to look nice enough to even want to join. (Thousand Trails marketing materials were even being used to board up windows).
All-in-all, if this is where people stay full time to live and work then it's fantastic there are decent places. RVs and travel trailers need places to be parked. It should not have a Thousand Trails designation though unless it meets that standard in my opinion.

RangerThousand Trails Las Vegas offers the convenience of being close to downtown and the Strip, but the immediate neighborhood leaves something to be desired.
The RV sites are extremely tight, often requiring neighbors to move vehicles to allow larger rigs to maneuver. Facilities are minimal, with the smallest bathrooms imaginable—there’s barely any legroom in the stalls, and the stoop outside the restroom is a tripping hazard (I fell and got bruised). Laundry is great.
While there is a dog park, the gate was broken upon arrival, only to be manually fixed by a fellow camper. Pool was closed until further notice.
Security is present with 24/7 gate monitoring, but enforcement felt lax when an unknown vehicle parked in front of our RV on Halloween night. Though the intruder eventually moved, it was unsettling that security didn’t intervene.
This park works as a quick city base but comes with several drawbacks.
GuideLove this campground. Easy access from Las Vegas, but feels a world away. Lots of big trees and bushes make the campground feel like an oasis. I’ve come out here on holiday weekends and was always able to find a site. Many of them have great views. The sites over looking the wash allow you to hear a river while you sleep! At night I’ve always heard coyotes and owls. Access to Lake Mead is a 15 minute drive away. Restrooms are flush facilities and clean.

GuideWe love camping at Las Vegas Bay campground at Lake Mead. The campground is very close to the wash that comes from Lake Las Vegas. Lots of wildlife!! Sites are small. RVs larger than 31 ft will have a hard time fitting. This is dry camp only. No hookups or dump station. Portable water is available. Sites are well developed.
TravelerThis is by far the best national Park campground we have stayed at. They have planted lots of trees in the campground for shade in the middle of the desert. So from the highway you come in at, it looks like a little oasis in the middle of the desert. We arrived on Wednesday and had about 3/4 of the campground to choose from. There were fire rings, picnic tables, and a trash dumpster, plus clean restrooms. There is a dump station and also fresh water to fill your freshwater tank. No hook ups, so bring everything you need. Highly recommended!
