Amargosa Valley Rest Area

Travelers need a convenient overnight stop between Las Vegas and Death Valley will find Amargosa Valley Rest Area positioned directly off Highway 95. This Bureau of Land Management facility operates year-round and accommodates RVs up to 65 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections.

The campground consists of a graded gravel parking area with basic amenities including restrooms, drinking water, and a dump station. Road noise from Highway 95 carries across the site, though several reviewers note it becomes manageable at night. Cell service works well here, with multiple carriers reporting strong reception. Two gas stations and a small diner provide immediate access to fuel and basic supplies.

Jeff L. describes the setup accurately: "this is basically a large gravel parking area." The facility includes picnic tables and maintains clean restrooms, though they're described as functional rather than luxurious. A large dirt lot across the highway offers additional parking space for those seeking more distance from the main road traffic.

The location serves as a practical base camp for exploring Death Valley, with DeathValley Camp located just under five miles south for campers wanting a more remote desert experience.

A basic overnight stopping point offering essential amenities like restrooms and water in an uncrowded setting. Some highway noise is present but generally manageable for short stays.

Nosey but nice.

Two very tired campers found the rest area delightful.   Pulled in at about 2030 and put the slide out out.  Had a beer and bite to eat and hit the hay.  It is noisy but I can sleep in a riot. My wife but her earplugs in and we both slept like babies.   The restrooms are not fancy but are kept serviceable if you need one.   Truckstop nearby by with fuel and essentials.  Fireworks and a brothel across the street if those are  your needs.  In late March the weather was great with a gentle breeze blowing in the windows and rocking us to sleep.

Rest for the night on 95

Nothing special about the rest area, has picnic tables and restrooms, but pretty small parking area. Across the highway is a large flat dirt lot we parked in away from the rest area and a lot more parking space. 3 bars on Verizon signal. There is also a rv park behind the rest area if you need hook up’s.

Basic Rest Stop With Some Fun Activities

This is a good place to stop for the night. There are some trees and picnic areas, restrooms, drinking water, and trash bins. There are two gas stations and mini marts, as well as a little diner with some basic food offerings. The Alien Center across the street is kitchy and neat to check out, and they have a restaurant as well. There's also the cathouse, which I'm not sure if it's real or what it is, but it's fun to do photoshoot in front of their signs.

We stayed the night in the big dirt lot across the street from the rest area and further away from the gas station. It was a bit quieter with less traffic in and out, though of course there's still road noise.

Good cell reception for Verizon and att. Overall a good place to stop for the night.

Very convenient, nothing fancy but easy to use .

As other reviewers have said, this is basically a large gravel parking area. I really like easy when on a long trip and only stopping for a night’s sleep. I thought it was pretty quiet considering being a few hundred feet from hwy 95.
