Level rv pads. Nice flush bathrooms. And dark sky's. There are plenty of hiking trails in the campground and on the blm area across I-15. We stayed 5 nights and really enjoyed it. Now. Why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. You have to pay for camping online. If you want a first come site, you have to scan a q code at the entrance. Sounds easy right? Except there is only 1 bar of t-mobile cell service and it's almost impossible to complete the transaction. We booked a reservation before arriving so no issue for us. But many folks could not pay for a first come site. But camped anyway. A better system needed.
Wow. The night sky was awesome. Sites are a bit tricky to level an rv but not impossible. Clean pit toilets and water close by. Berlin ghost town was fun and interesting, as was the Ichtheesaur fossil exhibit. Great time camping.
New campground with clean private showers and restrooms. And at $30 a night a real bargain.
Pull through sites with full hookups and a friendly staff makes this place a winner.
Well spaced, paved camping sites in a shaded campground. Fruit orchards all around with the Fremont River flowing nearby. Heated bathrooms that are spotless. Stop by the Gifford house for fresh baked pies. As of October 2024, the visitor center parking lot is still under construction, and the scenic drive is closed for the same. Also. Make a campsite reservation before you arrive as there are no payment stations in the campground. If you don't the visitor center has Wi-Fi as there is no cell service in the park. Oh. And loop C is the only campground that allows generators. Enjoy Capitol Reef.
Off hwy 191 and very quiet. Level pads with room to stretch. Wi fi was ok and good cellular signal. Bathrooms are heated with nice showers with plenty of hot water. During our stay, we noticed dirt on the shower dressing area. I'm not sure if it from people tracking it in or the cleaner not mopping properly. It was a minor problem. Host was friendly and helpful. Yes there are many full-time campers, but the rigs are in good shape, and the folks are quiet. Price is good for Moab and we would stay again.
Free camping with sunshade and a fire ring. Pit toilets that are stocked and clean. Night sky as dark as the mummies thomb and quiet. Sunstones are everywhere but mostly small with the occasional large one. Be advised there is about 30 miles of dirt road to reach the site. Well maintained but some washboard.
Like many free parks, the homeless took advantage and made it unsafe. Last summer, the county closed it to overnight stays. The casino north of the park now charges $10 a night, so the nearest free overnight spot north bound is the rest area south of Chemalt. But still a nice stop for a brake from the drive.
Use to be free for overnight but now costs ten bucks a night with a 5 night max. No hookups as it is a dry camping spot. The casino is smoke-free and pleasant with machines only. No live games. Gas, propane, and diesel are available as is a c-store . Good restaurant with a bar in the casino.
