    Old and shows wear

This is an older RV park and campground, and the age shows. We spent several nights here due to engine problems with our tow vehicle. The sites are level, and there is plenty of shade. (One advantage of being an older park.) But everything is just a little run down. The sites are gravel and close together do not much privacy. They come with water, sewer & electric. There is a pool (closed when we were there), playground, mini golf, a lake, game room, laundry and a small store with basics. The bathroom and showers were clean, but dated. Not all facilities were in working order. Two of 6 washers were out of service, one bathroom stall was out of order, pot holes in the road. There are also cabins, and RVs available to rent. There is quite a bit of traffic noise from I-44 and there are a lot of excess lights kept on all night long. The staff was friendly and check in was easy. Many of the sites are occupied be semi-permanent residents. They have internet, but it is weak and spotty. Saturday night they had a band making noise for 3 hours!

Lots of fun close to home

Nice rv park. Lots to do. The golf carts are genius. We used all weekend and had a great time. Played in the waterhole, played on the lake w/paddleboats and kayaks. Nice campsites and showerhouse. The bar and store were beautiful. Arcade, pool, games for kids and adults. Loved it

    Fun with the Cub Scouts

We stayed two nights Group Site A. It’s far removed from the other campsites…and the bathroom. It looks like there used to be a trail back to the bathroom but it’s overgrown now. The water spigot was out of order but as we already had to drive up to the bathrooms, we just took the water cooler. The water is strongly chlorinated. That being said, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The Cub Scouts loved the site, the Natural Wonders Trail, and the visitors’ center. We will definitely go again but only if we get the site closer to the bathrooms.

    Clean bathrooms, but noisy night

Checking in was easy enough and we got a spot near the bathrooms. We came in late and the check in board was easy.

Lots of people who smoke. But the bathrooms are smoke free and we're clean.

Nights are noisy!!! About 3am sounded like a dump truck was driving through camp and lifting several dumpsters and backing up and doing it again. It wasn't really but it was that noisy.

Lots of longer term tenants. But everyone we bumped into were kind or just kept to themselves.

    Tight Sites

My family and I had a nice stay. Long walk to the bathroom. Campsites are on top of each other though, so that stunk.. speaking of stunk, our site had skunks and raccoons each night. The park did have nice trails, fishing areas, breathtaking riverside views.

    December Camp

Loved the campground! However, lesson learned to reserve a campsite further from the road. Great hiking trails. Fishing not so much. Scenic views. Easy plug n play electric on a 30 amp box, no issues with blowing fuses like I have at other big state parks. Clean vault toilets (I didn't like how people would drive into the park from the highway just to use the bathroom).. overall good stay though. I'll definitely go back!

    No dispersed camping

My girlfriend and I were going to backpack camp at St Joe. We learned that the dispersed campsites had been dismantled. That's a real bummer.

    Nice place, clean

We stayed there for a scout event. They had hot showers and bathroom which is always a plus. There was a little trash at the site but nothing bad.

We had a ton of room between us and others. We could choose our site. I appreciate that quiet hours were enforced.

    Nice little park

The online reservations were easy to make, and after talking to staff on the phone I found the website to be up to date. Staff were pleasant and the place is well kept. We got in at night, the night check in board was easy to find and the map showed us exactly our spot and the route to take to get to it. The stay was pleasant though there Is an airport nearby and steady traffic on the highway this is on. Check out? Just leave and it’s taken care of. I’ve never stayed at an easier place.

Beautiful out of the way park

Getting here is an adventure but the park is nice. I only had 30 amp electric and no water or sewer hookup. Didn’t see any sites with water but there were ample water spigots to fill our tank.

    Clean campground - Tight sites

We stopped her for a few nights to check out St. Louis. It’s about a 30-40 min drive to the arch from campground

Sites were all gravel, fire pits were poorly placed and frequently it fell under someone else’s slide or trailer. We always bring our solo stove so we could have a fire in a better spot on our lot

Pool and bathrooms were clean, staff were very friendly

This campground has a ton of “cabins”

There is a very large hill to get in and some sites are VERY tight - we thankfully had a decent size site comparatively

    Nice Stop

Stayed here for a quick weekend away. Facilities were nice and clean, and staff was very friendly. Mini golf, activity room with a pinball machine and pool table. A band played on Saturday night at the pavillion but unfortunately it was very cold and we didn't stay long. Sites were a little cramped, but we had a nice view of the pond. We were close to the playground though, which had bright lights at night and loud kids - I would avoid that area next time.

    Great St. Louis Park

Close to the attractions in St. Louis. Friendly and helpful park staff. Terrific stop coming from the east to west or north to south destinations (or vice versa).

    Hiking, caves

We stayed just one night but were impressed with the lovely spot. The night was cold, but temps rise quickly after sunrise. We walked the Walking Fern trail, just half a mile but offered varied terrain and its own cave. We were sorry that the Fisher Cave was closed for the season, and the store and grill was only open on the weekend. Would definitely come back.

    Clean, scenic state park

Park was clean, and very pretty. Lots of people, but that is to be expected. Plenty to do in the area including hiking, cool restaurants, swimming in the river etc.

Park was well kept, and felt safe. We stayed at the full hook ups spot and everything worked as it should.

Only negative (if you count this as a negative) was there is no wifi and poor cell phone reception.

    Helpful friendly hosts

Stayed at overnight. The host couple is very friendly and helpful. Place was clean. Sites were pretty level and shaded. Host helped us with ladder and broom for the stuff that fell off the trees. Cute pool but didn’t use it. Laundry worked good. Pizza was good. Pet runs clean and in good shape. Good air signal for tv.

    It was just okay

Grounds were nice enough. There was a slight sewer smell throughout the park. Staff didn’t talk much. The water spigot was broken at our sight. Couldn’t get the water to turn off. Pool was in good enough Out caching with 2AussieDad. From Alaska. Got our Illinois cache. Headed to the St.Louis Arch. TFTC shape. Busy with families. The tiny pens in the back for the dogs were a little more muddy. Not enough room to play, just poop. The waste receptacle was full.

FIRST OFF, EXPECT NO INTERNET WHAT SO EVER! NOT EVEN UR OWN SERVER, NOT HAPPENING!! OUR SITE HAD NOT BEEN MOWED THE ENTIRE 8 DAYS WE WAS HERE. CAMPERS WAS PILED LITERALLY ONTOP OF EACH OTHER WE TOOK 3 STEPS AND WAS IN ONE CAMPERS DRIVE, OTHER SIDE CAMPERS IN TENT APROX 10FT FROM OUR FRONT DOOR. NVR SEEN THE HOST NOT ONE TIME.. HAVE NO CLUE WHO RAN THIS?? THE DAD & SON CAMPER BLAIRED RAP, CUSSING MUSIC EVERY NIGHT WHILE CLEARLY GETTING HIGH. HAD TO TELL MY GRANDSON TO STAY AWAY FROM THEM. THEY CAME OVER ASKING FOR RIDES AND TO HAVE STUFF FOR THEIR TOLIET, THEN ASKED MY HUSBAND TO MOVE THEIR CAMPER FOR THEM WHILE THE DAD DID SIDE WORK FOR MONEY. THEY BOTH LIVED IN CAMPER. FELT SCARED TO EVEN LEAVE OUR STUFF OUT IN FEAR THEY MIGHT HELP THEIR SELF. ONLY THING TO DO WAS THE RIVER DOWN ROAD. DROVE 11 MILES TO GO ZIP LINING AT MERAMAC CAVERNS , HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! ALL THE WORKERS HE HAD WAS UNDER AGES 25 RUNNING THE ZIP LINE. FOR SOME REASON THEY COULD NOT GET US STOPPED WHEN COMING IN. ON THE 4TH AND LAST COME IN I CAME IN FLYING AND BASHED INTO THIS POLE KNOCKING MY HEAD GEAR SIDEWAYS AND BUSTED MY TOP LIP. I WAS SHAKING SO BAD I COULD HARDLY STAND. THEY DID OFFER FOR ME TO FILL OUT AN ACCIDENT REPORT BUT I JUST WANTED DOWN AND LEAVE. ONE OF THE WORKERS CAME UP TO US AND STATED IT WAS NOT THE YOUNG BOYS FAULT HE COULDNT STOP US OR ME IN THE END THAT HIS BOSS, OWNER HAD GREASED ALL THE WIRES AND INSTEAD OF LETTUNG THEM DRY HE TOLD THEM TO RUN IT!!!! THERE FOR IT WAS TO GREASY TO STOP US. THIS IS LIFE THRETENING AND WAS IN DISBELIEF... AS WE WAS LEAVING WE SEE A YOUNG BOY FALL OFF THE OPTICAL COURSE AND WAS HANGING ON THE HOT METAL ROOF AS THE MOM DOWN BELOW WITH US WAS SCREAMING!!!! GET HER SE ON DOWN!!! IT TOOK A GOOD 30MIN BEFORE THE OTHER KID GOT ANOTHER YOUNGER KID UP THERE TO HELP HIM... ALL YOUNG BOYS.. VERY SCARY! DO NOT RECCOMEND THE ZIP LINE WHAT SO EVER. DAY 8 IS HERE AND WE R SO READY TO JUST LEAVE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE WONT B BACK
