    Cooper’s Landing Campgrounds and Marina

    Everything I could ask for

A beautiful campground located right next to the Missouri River. Live music, amazing Thai food, general store with snacks, beer, ice cream and merchandise. A bathroom (in addition to portapotties) as well as indoor shower. Very kind people all around

Prettiest sunset on the Missouri River

Super friendly people. They had gotten flooded out two weeks before I got there so there were a few things being rebuilt. They still offered everything they could to me including an indoor shower and bathrooms. A perfect spot if you want to escape road noise and light pollution and be lulled to sleep by the noise of the river not but eight feet away.

    Lakeview Park - Mexico

    Quiet RV/City Park

We camped in a 32' Class C for 7 days during the Miss Missouri Pageant. It's a quite little park with maybe 15-20 sites with electric only. There is potable water and sewer dump on site. So W of the sites could be considered pull through depending if you have a neighbor or not. Some of the camp sites are arranged like a standard parking lot where you back in or pull in nose to nose or bumper to bumper depending on your type of rig. There is a fair amount of shade. The RV park is also the city park so there is a fair amount of traffic in and out during the day but not too bad. There is a playground area, bicycle /walking path as well as public flush toilets and a pavilion. It worked perfectly for our needs.

    Cooper’s Landing Campgrounds and Marina

    Pleasant surprise

This was a nice short notice trip we took. Only downside is it’s near MU, so throughout the day, you get a lot of kids hanging out until the “quiet hours” set in. Next time we’ll bring bikes and hop on the trail.

Also, we caught an AMAZING sunset from our site!

    Mostly Scenery.

I do Not like that the fire pits nearest to the river are 30 inches from a 30ft drop off!  Only 2 people can enjoy the campfire because of that.

Secondly, they do Not provide tables for the campers.  Kinda expensive to Not have tables.

Not a good fishing place because it's a treacherous walk down.

    The evening band was awesome!

Will Not be back because of the above.

MO River & Katy trail fun

See beautiful scenery on the MO River & Katy Trail. You may get to see a paddleboat cruising the river. Cooper’s has spectacular sunsets, a boat ramp, dock, trails, bonfires, live music, and a very friendly atmosphere.

The Katy trail runs through the edge of the property, offering quick access to trail walking, hiking, and bicycling.

The general store has many options including a wide variety of food and drinks. It also has a small bicycle repair area set up outside.

I highly recommend the delicious Thai food restaurant on site.

    Prices are very reasonable.

    Hanson Hills Campground

    Fun night!

Very relaxed place. Kinda drive in and park anywhere you see a firepit. We had a rooftop tent on the truck and a tent. We camped near the smaller pond. The spot was fine and there wasn’t a ton of tent campers so we had the place to ourselves. The portapotties were gnarly but the toilets/showers behind the office were clean and had hot water. Staff was friendly when we checked in and we bought an armfull of fire wood and they even dropped it off where we parked in their sidebyside but it was damp so we had to scavage some smaller sticks to get the fire hot enough to self sustain. There was a lot of burned cans and some trash in our fire pit when we showed up so we threw it all away before we started our fire. Would stay again but it definitely isn’t a 5 star clean place. Think Ruth from Ozark show.

    Cooper’s Landing Campgrounds and Marina

    Loved it here

Leaving this magical place today. For anyone wanting to stay be aware they have live music Thursday through Sunday. They wrap everything up by 10pm and it’s very quiet late night. This weekend they had special events everyday related to the Katy trail right next to it. You will have water and electric but no sewer and no dump station on site. Plan your length of stay accordingly. In addition to the live music, food trucks come in and there is a cash bar/store with drinks, snacks, firewood and ice. It’s a very small campground and you are not walled off from the general public. If this is your style of camping you will really enjoy this place. Built in the 70’s on the banks of the Missouri River I had an amazing time. It was like being on vacation from my full time vacation lifestyle. I didn’t grocery shop the whole time.

Guide to Fayette

Cooper's Landing Campgrounds and Marina offers tent, RV, and glamping options approximately 34 miles southeast of Fayette, Missouri. The property sits directly on the banks of the Missouri River with direct access to the Katy Trail. Camping sites include both standard tent spaces and yurt accommodations with varying levels of amenities depending on site selection.

What to do

Bike the Katy Trail: The trailhead at Cooper's Landing connects directly to the Katy Trail State Park. "Next time we'll bring bikes and hop on the trail," notes one visitor who enjoyed the convenience of having the trail accessible from camp.

Fishing opportunities: Several spots near Fayette offer decent fishing access. "The pond was a great place to relax and watch the kids reel in fish after fish," reports a visitor at Hanson Hills Campground, which maintains stocked fishing ponds for guests.

Walking paths: Lakeview Park in Mexico features a dedicated walking trail circling its fishing lake. A camper mentions, "1.4 mile walking trail, 15 acre fishing lake," making it suitable for morning exercise during your stay.

What campers like

Sunset views: Missouri River sunsets create memorable experiences for visitors. "We caught an AMAZING sunset from our site," writes one camper, with others mentioning the riverside views as a highlight of their stays.

Peaceful atmospheres: Many campgrounds offer quiet settings away from urban noise. As one visitor to Hanson Hills Campground notes, "A short excursion down a dirt road made the place feel remote, but within the comforts of society. Friendly staff made for a homey feel."

Wildlife viewing: Birdwatching opportunities abound along the river corridors. One camper reports, "Blue birds, cardinals and also an indigo bunting were seen our first trip out," highlighting the natural setting found while exploring trails near camping areas.

What you should know

Site arrangements: At some parks, site configurations can be unusual. At Lakeview Park, "Some of the camp sites are arranged like a standard parking lot where you back in or pull in nose to nose or bumper to bumper depending on your type of rig."

Water safety: The Missouri River presents safety concerns. One visitor cautions, "The river is wide and deep here. Current and undertows make it definitely not suitable for swimming. You can see the water swirling and churning."

Limited amenities: Glamping close to Fayette, Missouri often means basic facilities. "We did hear there were showers but didn't use them as we were in a rush to get on the road in the AM," notes a visitor, reflecting the sometimes minimal infrastructure at smaller campgrounds.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds feature dedicated play areas for children. "Play ground was very clean and pavilion had lots of outlets and picnic tables," reports a camper at Lakeview Park, making it suitable for families with young children.

Activity planning: Holiday weekends often feature special events. "We stayed over the labor day weekend and the campground was full of activities for the kids. There was a live band and karaoke," shares a visitor to Hanson Hills.

Site selection: When glamping close to Fayette, Missouri with children, site location matters. "Pulled into this cozy campground (probably no more than 50 sites) and had a great set up right on the river," notes one family, suggesting riverfront sites provide engaging views for younger campers.

Tips from RVers

Utility connections: RVers should note the specific hookup configurations. "It's a quite little park with maybe 15-20 sites with electric only. There is potable water and sewer dump on site," explains a visitor at Lincoln Lake RV Park.

Road conditions: Access roads can present challenges in wet conditions. "Be aware this is a good 5-10 minutes down a dirt road (after a rainy night it was not pretty pulling my trailer back to the highway)," cautions one RVer about approaching certain camping areas.

Site spacing: RV parks vary greatly in site proximity. "30/50 amp service throughout. K row is preferential. Spread out fairly well. You're not on top of each other here," advises an RVer from Shoemaker RV Park, providing specific information about preferred spots for larger rigs.
