    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Davis Bayou Campground in Gulf Islands National Seashore welcomes pets throughout its 52 water and electric hookup sites. The campground maintains standard National Park Service pet policies requiring dogs to be leashed at all times while exploring the bayou trails and camping areas. Majestic Oaks RV Resort offers a dedicated dog park within its gated community, providing pets with ample space to exercise off-leash after enjoying the campground's spacious sites. Several RV parks in the area including Cajun RV Park, Gulf Beach RV Resort, and Biloxi Bay RV Resort accommodate pets with varying amenities. Shepard State Park Campground features primitive pet-friendly sites with electric hookups and maintains a clean, spacious dog park that receives positive mentions from visitors with large dogs. Most campgrounds in the region require pets to be leashed when outside designated pet areas, with waste disposal stations available throughout the grounds. Several sites near Ocean Springs, Mississippi are featured on The Dyrt.

The Ocean Springs area provides numerous opportunities for camping with pets near water access points. Deer Island offers boat-in dispersed camping where pets are allowed, providing a more secluded option for campers seeking privacy with their animals. When staying at Davis Bayou, many visitors enjoy walking their dogs through the diverse ecosystem trails and to nearby Ocean Springs, which features a walkable downtown area with pet-friendly establishments. The boardwalk trail, though partially closed for repairs in some seasons, offers wildlife viewing opportunities when open. Campers report that sites in the inner loop at Davis Bayou are generally longer and more level than those on the outside loop, providing more comfortable setups for RVs with pets. The proximity to Front Beach in Ocean Springs (approximately 15 minutes from Davis Bayou) gives pet owners access to clean, uncrowded shoreline for dog walking, though specific pet beach rules should be verified before visiting.

Davis Bayou Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore

      Worth a visit

We escaped an early winter cold spell in Michigan and made the thousand mile trip to the Mississippi coast. It was worth the drive. The campground includes 52 spaces most of which can accommodate an RV and a vehicle. The spaces are quite small and close to one another. Water and electric are included. There is a campground host on site. We saw a park Ranger just once during our visit. There is a railroad nearby and it is quite loud in the evening. There was no issue for us as we are accustomed to train noises. There is also a group campground nearby, which was very noisy late into the night. I got the sense that this was not customary. The campground is located in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, which is next to Biloxi. Outside the campground, the golf beaches are beautiful, white sand. The bathrooms and showers are adequate. There is a dump station in the campground. We definitely recommend and will come back.

Davis Bayou Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore

Best place to stay for relaxation and exploration

This is a great base camp for exploring the national park and nearby Ocean Springs. I loved walking the area and it’s fun to bike to nearby Ocean Springs. If you enjoy biking then you will have to stop by TriHard sports in Ocean Springs. I found them to be so nice and helpful. There are several locally owned restaurants to enjoy also. Sites are close together but not on top of each other and fairly level.

Davis Bayou Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore

      Hidden Gem

One of south Mississippi's best kept secrets. This is a small campground located in the National Seashore within the city limits of Ocean Springs. The diverse ecosystem of the Bayou is fascinating and chances are very high you'll be able to see at least one large gator while you tour this park. (No worries, they're not near the campsites). The campground itself has 50 reservable sites, all with 30/50 amp electric and water. Fire rings and picnic tables are at each site also. Most are well shaded and far enough apart to be comfortable. Terrific bath house and convenient dump station. Ranger programs are offered through the visitors center which is a must see. The 20 minute video about the park's history and importance is well worth your time. Make sure to save time to tour the downtown area of Ocean Springs. It's one of the USA's top rated seaside communities.

      Parkers Landing RV Park

      Nice Little Park

This is a nice little park. Not fancy, but friendly and quiet. The office people were really nice and very accomodating. Has a small pool, showers/restrooms, and laundry. There are maybe 50% fulltime residents, but we were there for two months and never heard/saw any drama or trouble. People were friendly and kept mainly to themselves. Park has lots of shade from beautiful live oak trees and has a waterfront area that is very pretty. No dog park, but plenty of places to walk your leashed pet. There is a boat ramp around the corner and I believe the waterway connects to the river. The park is older, and some of the cement pads are cracked and heaving, but looked like people were able to level up. They mow and trim regularly, so things were neat. This isn't a new fancy park, but it was nice and quiet and we liked it. We had site 64 which was a great really long pull thru with full hookups. Our Verizon reception was good. They offer reasonable weekly and monthly prices as well as nightly. The park is off Exit 41 of I-10 about halfway between D'Iberville/Biloxi exit and Gulfport exit (both have tons of shopping). Local area has tons to do...casinos, beaches, about an hour and quarter to New Orleans, Shuckers baseball, plus tons of great food.

Davis Bayou Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore

      First stay in new camper

Stopped on our way back from LA to FL with our new camper for a shakedown weekend. Site #2 was nice. Plenty of room for 36’ fifth wheel. Ranger was super helpful. Town of Ocean Springs nearby is great to go walk through.

      Nice State Park

Nice State Park. Clean and nice camp host.

Close to the very nice town of Ocean Springs Ms and its cool, walkable downtown.

We were originally in site 23 but asked to move to site 44 because 23 was right across from the Rv dump and all its smells as rv dumped.

The inner sites are longer and more level than the sites on the outside of the loop.

    Guide to Ocean Springs

Davis Bayou Campground sits on the Mississippi coast about 1.5 miles from downtown Ocean Springs. The area features coastal pine forests and bayou wetlands with an elevation near sea level. Winter temperatures typically range from 40-65°F, making it popular for campers seeking milder conditions during colder months.

    What to do

Disc golf courses: Shepard State Park Campground offers a complete disc golf course set among the forest. "When considering this place, you have to remember the location. It isn't the most convenient location to begin with... my wife and I played disc golf there. It was also a decent course," notes one visitor to Shepard State Park Campground.

Fishing opportunities: The coastal location provides multiple fishing spots. At Green Wood Stable Lodge RV Park, "We went to the dock to buy fresh shrimp right off the boat," reports a camper who enjoyed the local seafood scene. The park offers a quiet setting just minutes from Biloxi attractions.

Casino entertainment: Many campgrounds provide easy access to Gulf Coast casinos. "Short drive to great restaurants and casinos," notes one Davis Bayou visitor. Keesler AFB FamCamp offers another option with one camper reporting, "Great location for beach and casino. Grounds are well kept."

    What campers like

Beach access: Gulf Beach RV Resort provides convenient beach access just a block away. "You can walk a block to the beach, bring a wagon to haul your beach gear or drive as there is parking at the beach," explains one camper. Another mentions, "The location is across the road from the beach, and the road was easily crossed with our two dogs and a wagon with our beach stuff."

Wildlife viewing: Campers appreciate natural surroundings and wildlife spotting opportunities. One visitor to Davis Bayou Campground shares, "I've spent much of my life here. There's plenty of walking trails, and you can check out the gator alley area where you'll typically see at least one gator."

Quieter dispersed options: For campers seeking more isolation, boat-accessible camping provides solitude. "When the pandemic hit, I hit the road. Drove south to Biloxi, parked, hopped in my kayak, and paddled to Deer Island. It's less than a half-mile off the coast, but far enough away to be left alone," reports a visitor to this dispersed camping area.

    What you should know

Train noise: Some campgrounds experience railroad noise. One Davis Bayou camper notes, "There is a railroad nearby and it is quite loud in the evening. There was no issue for us as we are accustomed to train noises."

Varied site quality: Site preferences differ between campgrounds. A Davis Bayou visitor advises, "The spaces are quite small and close to one another. Water and electric are included."

Adjacent businesses: Be aware of neighboring businesses when selecting a site. "The down side is the go cart track and slightly crowded," reports one camper at Cajun RV Park, though they still found it "a great place" overall.

Seasonal considerations: Winter is peak season for some parks. "This is a popular park during the winter months as it is a National Park. Reserve early," advises a Davis Bayou camper.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground facilities: Multiple parks offer child-friendly amenities. "There are several trails, lots of trees and underbrush, a playground. There is an archery range, and boat launch," notes a visitor to Shepard State Park.

Splash pad access: Some campgrounds offer proximity to water play areas. "This campground is located outside the gates and next door to a beautiful park that has fishing, disc golf, and a splash pad playground for the kids," reports a visitor to Keesler AFB FamCamp.

Pet-friendly trails: For pet friendly camping near Ocean Springs, Mississippi, trail options abound. "Safe area for kids, adults, and pets. You're guaranteed to see some pretty cool wildlife and sunsets!" shares a Davis Bayou visitor, making it a solid choice for those seeking dog-friendly camping on the Mississippi coast.

    Tips from RVers

Resort amenities: Biloxi Bay RV Resort offers extensive facilities. "Wide spaces, set apart from each other. Great facilities. They are adding more! Hookups in right location and right heights. 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, level concrete pads. Great roads. Activities at huge awesome clubhouse with a bar!" reports an enthusiastic camper.

Hookup specifics: Many sites offer water and electric but limited sewer connections. A Davis Bayou camper notes, "Electric and water at the campsites and a dump station is available. Close to town and all the good eats. Nice clean park."

Site leveling: Site quality varies across parks. "The inner loop at Davis Bayou generally has longer and more level sites than the outside loop," notes one camper.
