Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Winnfield, LA

Jimmie Davis State Park Campground combines waterfront camping with accommodations for the entire family, including pets. Located on Caney Lake in Chatham, the well-maintained grounds offer pet-friendly tent sites, RV hookups, and cabins where dogs are welcome year-round. The park features electric and water hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings at most sites, with clean shower facilities and restrooms throughout the property. Saline Lake Campground and Midway RV Park & Marina also permit pets, with the latter offering a laid-back atmosphere along the Red River with riverside sites large enough for boats, travel trailers, and pets. Concrete pads at most campgrounds provide stable surfaces for pet enclosures, while grassy areas between sites offer space for dogs to stretch their legs.

Leashed pets can join their owners on the walking paths around Caney Lake, known for its clean shoreline and fishing opportunities. The floating dock at Grand Ecore RV Park provides an excellent spot for dogs to cool off during summer months when temperatures frequently exceed 90 degrees. Most campgrounds enforce standard leash policies, typically requiring pets to be on leads no longer than 6 feet when outside vehicles or tents. Lincoln Parish Park offers additional pet-friendly hiking trails with shade trees throughout the property, essential for summer camping with animals. Several properties including Colfax Recreation Area RV Park provide spacious sites with ample room between neighbors, reducing pet stress and minimizing barking conflicts. Pack extra water containers for pets when camping in summer months, as hydration is critical in Louisiana's humidity.

Kincaid Lake Campground - Temporarily Closed

    Great weekend getaway

We spent last weekend at Kincaid Lake Campground in Kisatchie. We stayed on Loop A. It was a much busier campground than we expected. Loop B was completely full when we arrived and Loop A had around 5 or 6 spots open. The camp host was very nice and stopped in to check on us about 30-45 minutes after we arrived. Each site had water and electric. Spots for the camper are asphalt and there is a picnic table, grill, fire pit and lantern post at each site. The campground was clean and well maintained. It was pretty quiet day and night, even though there were lots of families with small children and pets. We will definitely be back!

    Valentine Lake Wild Azalea Trail

    Wild

    Open all year

    Primitive

The Wild Azalea Trail is south west of Alexandria, Louisiana on the edge of the Valentine Lake Recreation Area. There is a trail head with parking on the grass, nicely mowed but if it has rained it could be muddy. Primitive camping is permitted adjacent to the trail but campsites must be at least 30 feet from the trail center line.

    Cheniere Lake Park

    Very pretty and quiet location

Very convenient to I-20. Approximately 3 miles south of the interstate but you feel like you are a world away. Some of the campsites are very pretty overlooking the lake and the cypress trees. The scenery is unique and beautiful. Great if you’re attending a function at the lodge. Literally steps away from the event location. Nice playground for the children. Sheriff’s department is nearby and they patrol frequently so you feel very safe. You can hear the firing range in the distance. All in all a nice experience. Very easy to access I20. Also convenient to a Pilot Travel Center and a propane place both on the right if you take the Well Road exit off the interstate to get here.

Kisatchie Bayou NF Campground - Temporarily Closed

    Beautiful creekside weekend

Camp next to this beautiful sounding creek, there is a beach to lay out on while the kids play in the water or you can hit the Caroline dorman trail on foot or horseback. Excellent site. My personal favorite in Louisiana

Kisatchie Bayou NF Campground - Temporarily Closed

    Beauty on the Bayou

Fee: $2.00 day use $2.00 per vehicle

17 primitive walk in tent sites with the sites running along side the beautiful Kisatchie Bayou. There is one drive in that is located in the parking lot.  The bayou looks more like a creek in Arkansas than a Louisiana bayou. Don't think you will find a gator in that bayou. The hardwood and pine forest has lain down a beautiful carpet under your feet with very little noise when you walk. NO WATER. Nice parking area and great hiking. There are a lot of picnic tables and grills close to the parking lots for day use. Pit toilet, grill, picnic table, fire ring, lantern pole.  The area is very beautiful and the peace is amazing especially along side the bayou.  Road in is in very good shape.

    Lincoln Parish Park

    Beautiful convienent

Easy $25 for one night while traveling through west coast to east coast to relocate. We were doing hotel camping every other and this is one we decided on with its convenience to Walmart and many other food places. Ruston is also an adorable little downtown areas to explore and has that heart of Louisiana fill. It’s also close to west Monroe where Duck dynasty hometown so that was a fun plus to visit! We did stay in winter season with rain and cold. We have been tenting and enjoy being endured of all nature has so offer this has beautiful fishing hiking and a friendly camp host who was accommodating. They have wood for sale if needed. Water hookup ,electric hookup, showers bathrooms. Which we chose site 43 right next to the restroom house. I would love to come back when weather is better and we aren’t travel driving lagged to enjoy all it had to offer! You do receive a gate code when in person check in so if you book online see if you have received that too!

    Midway RV Park & Marina

Has everything I need including privacy

I was looking for a Louisiana location for an extended stay, I wanted to find a riverside, quiet location with large sites. A place where there was room for my travel trailer, boat, and truck. I found that and much more at Jones' Riverside Marina & RV Park.

It is in the country but not that far from the charming city of Natchitoches. The staff members are always friendly and helpful. There is a well-stocked store along with a carry-out restaurant (sit down part is closed due to covid-19). They have a free boat ramp and docks (very handy for me). The fishing is always good from the bank or a boat. My travel trailer is small but this facility is big rig friendly. I like the laid-back atmosphere and southern hospitality that is present here. This is not a huge, fancy, "resort", but those are not for me. I don't care for the crowds, noise, price, and many restrictions of those places. This RV Park emulates the real Louisiana!

    Hidden Treasure RV Resort

    Great location

This campground is located on the Cotile lake in Boyce, Louisiana. And it's only about 8 or 10 minutes from I-49, but well worth the time. There is a small boat launch/fishing area. A couple of the guests are long term, but it is very quiet here. No matter what site you are in, you will need to level your rv. We are in site #17 and it overlooks the lake. Owners are fantastic. Highly recommend.
