Ohio River Campground and Marina — Shawnee State Park

    Very Peaceful, Very Clean

We stayed in Site 09. The sites are spacious with level, asphalted pads. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table.

Toward the front of the campground is a great splash pad, playground, and dog park, which includes an agility course. These are located away from the RV's; therefore, the campground was very quiet and peaceful.

Nearby was a marina, fishing access, and an archery range. The surrounding hills are pretty.

The bath house was clean. A laundry room was available.

The only drawback was the lack of shade. Because this place is relatively new, in time--as the planted seedlings grow--this problem will lessen.

    East Fork State Park Campground

    Overall great state park

Generous sized campsites, a lot of them are wooded which we prefer, with around 400 sites there are plenty to choose from! Bathroom/shower facilities are updated and usually well maintained. There is a large public beach but it's on the other side of the park so you have to drive all the way around to get to it, no short cuts. They have a camp ground beach but it's been closed the last 2 years. Lots of hiking trails, bridal trails and a bike path. Wish list for this park: Boat rental, dog park, dog beach/water access. Overall a beautiful park.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

    Work in Progress

This is newly opened and a lot of work still needs to be done. Currently there is no dog park, hiking trails or bathhouses like it states. Many of the spots aren’t even finished yet.

When looking at the camp map don’t plan on having access to the creek or river. Your lucky if you can even view it.

The ground is all sand. So while if it rains you won’t get muddy, but the sand is a pain and gets everywhere.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

    Family Atmosphere

This is the best campground we have stayed at. We have been here all summer and we’ve had no complaints. The owners are great people who are always here working and interacting with the campers. Splash pad, pavilion, playground, Gaga pit, and dog park are a few of the great amenities. Each lot has a fire pit and the lots are large. They do activities for the kids every weekend and also have bands! It’s a fun place.

    Ashland Huntington West KOA

    Nice Campground Close to Interstate

    KOA Review

The campground it’s self is very clean and taken care of. We were there in early March with winter temps. The staff was extremely nice and helpful, bath house and laundry was clean. The water at our site was inoperable and they offered to move us without me even having to ask which was nice. The site could be maintained better ours had lots of tire ruts and fire pit could have been better for the price. Overall it’s a good campground with amenities in great shape. A good little dog park that was extremely clean, putt putt, and more. I would come back again in the off season just cause we like camping with less crowds.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

Best full time campground on the Ohio River!

We are full-time RVers and this is by far the best park we've stayed at! It's peaceful and beautiful, everyone (especially Management) is so friendly and fun! The laundry facility is one of the greatest amenities as we've stayed other places without one, so we truly appreciate it! The splash pad is fantastic for children and adults alike! There's a dog park, and a kids kangaroo jump pad as well. The view of the river is beautiful! On weekends there's entertainment and/or cornhole tournaments to bring everyone together. The park is maintained perfectly and I've enjoyed calling it home! By far the best park in Southern Clermont County! Must see!

    East Fork State Park Campground

This Park Has a Little for Everyoen

This was our first time camping here and it was a large park. There was several miles of bike trails , bridle trails and hiking trails. There is also a beach and marina for campers away from the main beach and marina for those just visiting the park for the day.

The nature center offered movies in the evening for guest.

The park was very clean and maintained. Trails were well marked and the camp hosts were very friendly.

We were there over Labor Day weekend and it was a quiet park except for the occasional golf cart late at night going by.

I did see a few dogs off leash which is always a pet peeve of mine.

    Verizon cell coverage was good.

Guide to Stout

Campgrounds near Stout, Ohio stretch across the shores of the Ohio River, providing access to both water recreation and wooded hiking trails. The area sits at elevations ranging from 500-700 feet above sea level with a humid continental climate that brings warm summers and mild winters. Most campgrounds remain open April through October, though some offer year-round camping options for visitors seeking outdoor experiences in all seasons.

What to do

Hiking across the street: Access hiking trails directly across from Sandy Springs Campground where campers report excellent hiking experiences. "We had a great hike at a trailhead directly across the street from the campground. Took us a little over 3 hours for the entire loop with a 4 year. He walked almost the entire way so it's doable and the views are worth it," notes reviewer Tiffani C.

Fishing opportunities: Cast a line along the Ohio River for seasonal catches. The region provides multiple access points for bank fishing or boat launching. "This is a peaceful and quiet campground located along the Ohio River... they also have fishing available," writes Julie W. about her experience at Sandy Springs.

Kayaking and canoeing: Paddle the calm waters of lakes and rivers throughout the region. Shawnee State Park Campground offers multiple water bodies for exploration. "The lakes are quite tiny. The one at the campground is more like a large pond- fine for paddling around on a paddleboard for practice... The other lake is slightly bigger," explains Megan M.

Outdoor recreation facilities: Enjoy various sports and activities without leaving the campgrounds. "The campground offers something for everyone: playground equipment, basketball hoop and various balls, access to the river for fishing, and absolutely stunning views of the Ohio as well as the surrounding hills," says BluePitMom O. about Sandy Springs Campground.

What campers like

Private shower facilities: Campers appreciate clean, private bathroom facilities at many locations. At Sandy Springs Campground, "The bathrooms and laundry room are very clean," according to Sherry R. who spent five months at the campground.

Spacious, secluded sites: Many campgrounds offer sites with good separation for privacy. Megan M. notes about Shawnee State Park: "This campground has some features that are nicer than what is found in many state campgrounds. There are some secluded sites back in the woods, so you don't feel like you are camping in a parking lot in a few places."

Helpful campground hosts: Friendly staff enhance the camping experience throughout the region. At Carter Caves State Resort Park Campground, Amanda S. reports, "The camp office/store was very clean and had practical items like batteries, firestarter, snacks and ice cream for the kiddos. There is also firewood for purchase."

What you should know

Cell service limitations: Prepare for spotty or non-existent cell coverage. "There is absolutely no cell service in the Campground. The lodge at the top of the hill has a weak signal, but is better than nothing if you really need to check in with outside world," cautions carrie S. about Shawnee State Park.

Hookup distance issues: At some sites, utilities may be far from parking pads. As Lee D. notes about Turkey Creek Campground: "Many of the sites had even shorter pads; these would really best be suitable for tent campers as the pad would only fit a regular-size vehicle."
