Great Night Stop!

This is an old golf course. Lots of green grass not many trees. Friendly staff. Very clean. Close to I-24. Would definitely stay again when traveling through area.

Quiet and remote

Stayed here in March 2020. My favorite part about this campground was that there were only 8 campsites so it was very quiet and remote. I arrived at 7pm on Friday and snagged the last site. The fire pit had a grate large enough to cook on and I didn’t need to use my extra grate that I keep in my…

Good amenities, could use better maintainence

We enjoyed the amenities that came with our stay. There was a late night check in mishap (no one answered, and we were left wandering around to look for space) they did offer us 1/2 off the first night. The lagoon was fun, and we enjoyed it, could use a lil underside cleaning and inflation…

Great Clean Campground

While they cater mainly to RV's, they do allow pitching tents. Angela was super friendly and helpful in selecting a site best for pitching a tent. It was moderately busy with RVs. The bathrooms were very clean and grounds generally well kept. It's quiet at night but it is near the highway and a…

Overnight stay

Was fortunate to get a short notice reservation for an overnight at this KOA. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, the pool was a hit with the kids, and there's quick food options just down the road. The campground itself is somewhat hilly with plenty of tree cover, but the lots are gravel and…

EV Car Camping

I’m a novice car camper, sleeping in my Tesla Model 3. This campground is quiet and clean. The host is very friendly and knowledgeable. Each site has 50 amp electric service (so you can charge your EV with a NEMA 14-50 plug), fresh water, fire pits, and picnic tables. A nice stop to visit the…

Small and quiet

Stayed the night on our way to Springfield. The campground has pull thru sites with water and electric only. Some shade trees and sites are gravel. This use to be a golf course and the cart paths are now walking trails. Be careful as the paths are in poor condition with cave ins in some areas and…

Just ok

The Pennyrile state park campground is in need of a makeover. I didn’t see any sites suitable for a tent. I was car camping and slept in my SUV so no tent but I’m glad I didn’t have to rely on the sites being level. There were roots and rocks on all the sites. It is quite and relaxing. Electric and…

4x4 and tents only

We were hoping to stay there but upon arrival realized that was not to be. The east side of the road is where the camping sites would be but the road was completely washed out. It would be challenging for a jeep to make it back to some of those sites.

On top of that the river feeding Jackson Falls…

Shawnee Forest Campground

This campground is very nice. It's only 1/4 mile from the highway but still quiet. They have a couple of ponds to fish in and the restrooms are clean. They also have a laundry room.

You won’t be level, if you can even get into your site.

This place was laid out and built by someone who hates RVs. Seriously steep compound slopes, tight 90 degree turns, and hookups 100’ away on the wrong side of the site all make this place horrible for anything but a pop up. I saw at least four people worth reservations leave because they couldn’t…

Avoid This Campground

Rushing Creek is an abandoned site. The road to the area is closed off. The only thing that remains of the campsite is a slab of pavement with grass sprouting from the cracks surrounded by a dense forest. This area is very remote with no cell signal. For your own safety, do not visit or camp at…
