Best RV Parks & Resorts near Royal Center, IN

Several RV campgrounds serve the Royal Center area with varying hookup options and site configurations. Rvino - Lost Acres near Monticello provides full hookups with 30/50-amp service and accommodates larger RVs with pull-through sites. France Park in Logansport features electric, water, and sewer connections with 117 campsites available from April to October. Tall Sycamore Campground offers similar amenities plus RV storage options and is big-rig friendly with spacious sites. Tippecanoe River State Park Campground provides year-round access with electric sites that can handle larger motorhomes. "Clean and well maintained, pleasant staff and campers, lots for kids to do. Average sized sites, some wooded and some not."

Many campgrounds in the region provide essential RV services including sanitary dump stations and fresh water. Within 30 miles of Royal Center, propane refill service is available at Oak Lake RV Resort, which is particularly helpful for extended stays. Cell service varies throughout the area, with better coverage closer to Logansport and Monticello. For RVers concerned with level sites, France Park requires some planning. "We took two vehicles since we wanted to leave one at our campsite. Some sites are clustered together, however we lucked out and got one along the fishing lake with no nearby neighbors," noted one visitor. Most parks accommodate pets, though specific restrictions may apply. Seasonal availability is important to consider, as several campgrounds operate only from spring through fall.

    Mississinewa Lake Campground

    Good campgrounds for boating!

If you want woodsy, private sites, don’t come here. Most are grassy and sunny. There are many areas where the sites back up close to each other. 2 rows of full hookup. Plenty of 50 amp and many good tent sites. Beach in the park but not walking distance. Great mooring area for campers. Don’t try to pull-thru in any sites that are back-in. DNR will come around repeatedly and ask you to turn around...after you are already set up. Disc golf, trails, store near the beach, cabin rentals.

    Oak Lake RV Resort

We came for a weekend… Stayed nearly 2 weeks! Oak Lake RV Resort is where family memories are made.

6 people, 1 pup & a 44.4' Keystone Sprinter... Oak Lake RV Resort handled it all with ease & gave us the BEST camping trip ever! From the moment you drive up, staff are waiting in golf carts to guide you to your site & even help with setup. We were nervous about fitting our big rig, but pull-through site #17 made it flawless. Where else does that??

We originally booked August 22–25, extended to the 29th & then lucked into staying through Labor Day weekend. We canceled our other plans because Oak Lake had everything we wanted & more!!Pond swimming & obstacle course, movies on our inflatable screen, golf cart glow parades, s’mores, homemade campfire pizzas & endless family memories. The kids are still raving about it!

Rebecca deserves a huge shoutout for going above & beyond! Tom & Marianne, the owners, are amazing hosts who clearly pour their hearts into making Oak Lake special. Even the coin operated laundry was a lifesaver & convinced us we need a washer/dryer in our camper for future impromptu stays 😂.

We’re already talking about being put on the list for a seasonal site for next year bc we know we’ll be back again & again. Oak Lake RV Resort is Newton County’s hidden gem!!! If you’re searching for fun, hospitality & true family camping memories... THIS is the place!! Hands down, every time.

Honor system pay at Festival Office in center of park. Sites are first come first served. 30 amp sites in center fill up fast. 31ft toy hauler. AC ran fine off 20amp.

    Last Resort Campground

    Quiet, reasonably priced rest spot.

We stayed here two weeks while visiting friends in the area. The site was a little small but was pull through and full hookup. Even though we were close to a highway and railroad, traffic noise did bother us. The wifi did not reach out area but I know they plan to expand it's capabilities soon. The best part was free access to the pond, paddle boats etc and friendly staff. The low points were very hard (with odd smell) water to the point where we didn't trust using the on camp laundry. Make sure you have a good on-line water filter.

    Prophetstown State Park Campground

    Campground with lots to offer

This is a really nice campground with many shaded sites. We camped in a pull-through full hookup site that was very level. There is a 5-mile paved bike trail that runs through the park. The trail winds through a prairie to where the Wabash and Tippecanoe Rivers meet. Very pretty ride. The state park has a water park and a working farm.

    Wabash & Erie Canal Park

    Great Little Campground

Heading south out of Elkhart, we happened on this great little campground (CG). We called two hours out and they had a site that would fit our 39’ 5th wheel. We followed our RV GPS and Google maps instructions to the city park and CG area. When we came down the road to the CG we were unsure of the CG location, but it is located right behind the interpretive/conference center building. We were in FHU site C, which was technically a pull through. However, you have to turn in front of the interpretive/conference center and go around the building to be able to pull through the site at the back of the building. But, there’s a pine tree that is overgrown and could have scratched the side of our fifth wheel. Since we had already drove past the interpretive/conference center and were in front of site C, we just backed in to the spot, which was an easy back in and easily fit our rig and F-450. We got 3 bars on Verizon and 4 OTA channels, which included CBS and CW prime channels. We walked our pups along the canal and enjoyed the historic displays and buildings in this small park. We were soon joined by the campground hosts who arrived for their 4th season and they were very nice. There are 4 FHU sites of which A is the camp host. All the sites will take rigs up to 40’. There are also electric and tent sites as explained in the CG picture attached. There are walking trails and other interesting exhibits to explore. This CG is definitely a hidden gem. Too bad we only had an overnight stay.

    Hidden Gem

We stayed here for a quick overnight on a longer trip and want to come back for longer. Massive spots in a wooded area with lots of privacy. Full hookups as well as electric only with convenient potable water and dump stations. Nice playgrounds, bike trails (paved & mountain),fishing and an excellent aquatic center ($5 per person).

    Indiana Beach Campground

    Had a great time

Campsites where larger than I expected and am used to with KOA. Very enjoyable weekend stay. We stayed in site 89 which was a pull through full hook up site with cable tv as well. The pool was quite large and clean. The KOA page states that they have a pool and splash pad area as well as mini golf. The camp ground shares its pool with the neighboring camp ground and KOA campers are allowed to cross over to use the neighboring camp grounds splash pad and golf. The mini golf was in disrepair and build over a very scummy pond and the splash pad was a bit worn down as well. My kids stayed in the pool which was quite nice. If you stay with KOA you get decently discounted tickets to Indiana Beach amusement park which we may visit in a future visit. Over all we had an enjoyable stay and would come again but we would add an additional day to visit the amusement park.

Guide to Royal Center

Royal Center campgrounds feature seasonal variations typical of northern Indiana's humid continental climate, with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F and winter lows often below freezing. The terrain surrounding Royal Center includes several lakes and river access points where camping options range from primitive sites to full-service RV parks. Campgrounds in this region typically operate from April through October with limited winter availability.

What to do

Swimming in quarry waters: France Park offers a unique swimming experience in its former limestone quarry with crystal clear water. "The quarry, wow! It was beyond stunning and never what I expected to see in an Indiana park. We had an amazing hike, checking out the quarry," writes Jennifer K.

Hiking trail exploration: Tippecanoe River State Park Campground features several interconnected trails accessible directly from the campground. "There's some trails that can be accessed from the campground- Trails 1,3,4&5," notes Cynthia K. The park also includes a fire tower that provides panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Fishing opportunities: Multiple campsites offer fishing access, particularly at Oak Lake RV Resort. "Great park just off interstate. Gated for security and plenty of shade. Great family setting and staff," mentions Ken P. The resort maintains stocked ponds specifically for campers.

Amusement park access: Indiana Beach Campground provides convenient access to Indiana Beach amusement park via a ferry service. "You do get a discount on amusement park/water park tickets with a two night stay, and there's a free shuttle," explains Eric Y. Campers receive significantly discounted admission compared to regular park visitors.

What campers like

Waterfall viewing: Many campers appreciate the natural water features near Royal Center. "Great place to fish. Beautiful waterfalls," says Wendy Z. about France Park, which features a waterfall that flows most heavily during spring and after rainfall.

Convenient overnight stops: Love's RV Stop offers easy access for travelers needing a quick overnight stay. "Found this on Dyrt and stopped for one night. Easy on and off I 65 yet barely any traffic noise. It just opened and it is well designed," writes Ken P. The secure gated facility provides peace of mind for travelers.

Family-oriented atmospheres: Several campgrounds prioritize family activities. "A relaxing campground for the whole family. Swimming, camp fires, children parks, dog park, small trails, and only 10 minutes from Indiana beach," shares Eric O. about Rvino - Lost Acres, which offers dedicated areas for children and pets.

Primitive camping options: For those seeking a more natural experience, France Park offers secluded primitive sites. "They have the best hikes, very remote/primitive camping. The people and staff are AWESOME!!" exclaims Amanda M., highlighting the park's less developed camping areas away from RV sections.

What you should know

Seasonal availability: Most campgrounds near Royal Center operate on limited schedules. "Season: April 15th to October 15th" is listed for Tall Sycamore Campground, with similar seasonal restrictions at most area campgrounds. Winter camping options are extremely limited.

Site leveling challenges: Several campgrounds require careful setup due to uneven terrain. "The grass is usually long and not mowed and the sites are gravel and they used the huge gravel so it is hard to use stabilizers and also level your unit," notes Brandon E. about certain areas of France Park.

Mosquito preparation: Insect protection is essential, particularly in summer months. "Worst place for mosquitoes," warns Rob H. about Tippecanoe River State Park, suggesting campers bring adequate repellent and protective clothing.

Cell service limitations: Connectivity varies significantly throughout the area. "I have AT&T service and could not use my phone at all, my husband has Verizon and had no problems with cell service," reports Monica C., indicating Verizon generally provides better coverage in the region.

Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: When booking sites, consider proximity to play areas for convenience. "For the playground, sites 2,3,4,6,&7 have direct access to a playground and you can watch your children from your site," advises Cynthia K. about Tippecanoe River State Park Campground.

Kid-friendly activities: Oak Lake RV Resort offers structured children's programming. "Pond swimming & obstacle course, movies on our inflatable screen, golf cart glow parades, s'mores, homemade campfire pizzas & endless family memories. The kids are still raving about it!" enthuses Nadiehsda B.

Bathroom facilities: Evaluate bathroom cleanliness when traveling with children. "Station A looked like it had been totally rehabbed in the last 5 years. Everything looked nice and the showers could be turned to your preferred temperature. Cleaner than the last state park we were at for sure!" reports Cynthia K.

Noise considerations: Some campgrounds struggle with noise control. "The first night some people across from us were loud until after 1am. Reading other Google reviews it sounds like the quiet hours are not enforced and it can get very loud in the tent area," warns Erin B. about Indiana Beach Campground.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategies: RVers recommend researching specific sites before booking. "We stayed in site 102, which is right across from bathroom A. All the outer sites are pretty good. Our site ponded water after a rain, but soaked in fast," shares Cynthia K. about Tippecanoe River State Park.

Hookup variations: Oak Lake RV Resort provides full service connections for extended stays. "Staff was extremely helpful as this was our first trip with the new camper. Was very quiet. Clean shower and bathroom," notes Preston H. Their staff assists with hookup questions for first-time RVers.

Access considerations: Large rigs should carefully evaluate campground entrances and sites. "Nice big sites, easy to get in and out. Sites are not marked very well though," cautions Tammi L. about Oak Lake RV Resort, suggesting arriving during daylight hours to navigate unmarked areas.

Utility management: Electrical systems can vary between campgrounds. "The site we were at showed a ground fault on the 50amp Circuit so I had to use the 30 amp circuit but it's Nov so no need to run dual ACs minor issue but still make sure your using your EPM devices," advises Steven C., highlighting the importance of bringing adaptable equipment for RV camping near Royal Center, Indiana.
