Busy but relatively quiet

Spots are mostly wide open to the road but separated enough to feel private (until drivers/walkers come through). Site had gravel and roots so tent spot took some searching and clearing to find. While pretty busy it still felt private and quiet aside from nearby sites playing music most of the day…

Best site at the campground

Pros: great hiking trails, nice lake to kayak on, family friendly beach and picnic areas

Cons: Not great fishing, no dog friendly swim area, the beach/fishing pier/boat launch are all pretty far from the campsites. There is a hiking trail down to it, but when bringing a bunch of beach gear/kid…

Turner South - NON Electric Campground

Very quiet spot with no electric short walk to Turner Lake.   Spaces are well spaced, some with good shade and others in full sun.   It shares a nice bath house with two other campgrounds on the property, Fox Den and Prairie View.  Two bath room buildings in the campground as well.  Many trails and…

Not a bad park - but do your research

These sites share an electric box.  Some spaces the box is further than 30 feet from the pad.  A lot of the spaces are also crowded together.  Recommend sites 23 to 46 for spacing and electric distance.  We originally booked 96 but could not extend our slide because of large trees on either side of…

A getaway to nature

Bong has a diverse set of activities available from hiking to model airplanes. What they do seem to lack is very spacious camp sites. Facilities are well maintained, and you can certainly have an enjoyable time here. Our family will likely camp here again this season due to Bong’s convenient…

Not for #vanlife

Full hook ups and electric sites plus some restricted Equestrian and walk in sites
Not for #vanlife. I tried to pay for a tent site and was told “you’re not supposed to sleep in your car” “this campground is for RV’s only”

Quiet spacious camp ground

We are here on Memorial Day weekend and it is full, but still very quiet. The sites are well maintained including the fire pit areas. Water hookup is back from pad so as others have said, bring the longer water hose. Nearby Siegler Lake and Big Rock Creek in the Big Rock Forest Preserve are…

Great prairie camp ground

This is our favorite local camp ground. The park has electric and water hook ups at all RV sites. Additionally the spots are paved and have nice fire ring area. The prairies are very relaxing to watch and hike through. Most importantly the dump sites, especially in the back of the park, are well…

Great spot not far from the city

Easy reservations and check-in. We used the primitive spots and were a short walk from the bathrooms. Lots of hiking and mountain biking trails in the area.

Great Location for DayTrips and Group Overnights the Western Suburbs

Note - as other reviewers mentioned, overnight camping is limited to Youth Groups only (eg Scouts). *But the larger Churchill Woods forest preserve is open daily and is an excellent location for hiking and fishing - right on St. Charles Road - just west of I-355.

*What’s awesome is you can…

Commerical, but not packing them in

This is a very popular campground. Lots of big rigs who seem to be staying for quite a while. Our relatives recommended this one since some of their friends use it for "the summer." A very nice, well manicured campground. Though a commercial-style, it does not feel like it. Sites are well spaced.…

There have been 2 murders here

I have to admit that I’ve not camped here, but I just downloaded Dyrt and was looking at local sites around where I live and saw this campground posted and felt I needed to be very clear about the conditions here. I’ve driven through, and it’s quite frightening. Just Google the name and read the…

Not what you’d expect

More of a yard style, open camping. No privacy. Lots of kids everywhere. No alcohol allowed. Packed during the day at the beach. Ok trails.

Some really nice spots

The area has lots of RV and Campers strewn about- but the tent spots are spacious and right along the river. I camped there on a great night in early November and had the whole place to my self. Quiet, beautiful, and the staff was very nice.
