Tips for camping with families
Trail difficulty ratings: Ferne Clyffe offers trails suitable for various skill levels. "The Giant City Nature Trail and Devils Standtable were really pretty, easy strolls. The Trillium Trail is a little more rugged for those who prefer less crowded, slightly tougher trails," advises Shana D.
Tent sites vs. RV sites: Consider your camping style when selecting sites. "I actually didn't end up camping here because it looked like a rock site. I maybe saw two tents, everyone else in big RVs. If you are doing tent camping I would look elsewhere," warns Brennan M. about Deer Ridge Campground.
Best seasons: Dutchman Lake Camp works well for quick overnight stays year-round. "We pulled in around midnight and left at 8 am. There's a large turnaround that could fit many vehicles... Very peaceful! No bugs," shares Katie B. about their experience.
Tips from RVers
Hookup locations: At Shawnee Forest Campground, utility placement requires planning. "The water and electric(50/30/20 AMP) are at the back of the gravel pad. There are two sewer hookups, which was nice," explains MickandKarla W.
WiFi availability: Internet access varies between campgrounds. "Their WiFi was very good. We got two bars on Verizon," reports MickandKarla W. about connectivity at Shawnee Forest Campground.
Site selection strategy: Choose your site carefully based on location within the campground. "There are some nice sites in this CG but we were not offered one of the better ones even though there were plenty of sites open in the upper 26-50 site area. If we come back, we'll know where to ask for a site," advises MickandKarla W.
