A very easy access campsite. Close to the town of Troy and simple setup. You can camp up by the reservoir parking lot, or further in, closer to the wooded area. There are bathrooms interspersed and great for fishing. Not many amenities, but a great, simple place.
We came upon this site after passing on the White Bird Recreation Site just north of here - it's so much better and we're so glad we came here. It's an established campground, with maybe 4 or 5 sites, all open, spread out, right on the river. There's a picnic table and fire pit for each site, and a porta potty. Verizon was roaming and AT.T. had great reception. Despite being right off the main road, it was very quiet and you couldn't hear or see traffic since you're lower down on the river. Easy access for big rigs. We stayed here two nights. Ranger came through to check on things, always love to see that.
Beautiful spot. Free! 14 day limit. No trash service, no water other than the river. The campground was nice and clean.
It's a small campground near the tiny town of Kooskia. We stayed here to be close to the part of the South Fork of the Clearwater River which is known for it's Steelhead Run. There are some permanent residents here with some rundown trailers but they were all nice and waved hello. It is quiet and right on the river with the ability to walk down to the river though not from every site and it is a rocky bank. The owners are very very nice and helped us back in when we arrived after dark. There are pay showers (bring quarters) and clean flush toilets. The website wasn't working when we were looking it up but they do respond to phone calls and messages left. We will most likely stay here next year for the Steelhead Run and hopefully have better luck! There are some pull through sites as well as back in sites and a small tent area. It is close to the highway but if you are near the river the sound is almost completely drowned out.

At 18 dollars I was skeptical before l arrived. Getting everything for 9 dollars is unbelievable but true.
This campground is gorgeous. The Dwarshak reservoir is a very beautiful place to camp in any of the campgrounds. This one, in particular, overlooks the reservoir perfectly. Make sure your brakes are good on your truck or vehicle because the roads can be steep.
Great spot to camp out. Owls calling throughout the evening. Great cell service.
No one is here on a beautiful October long weekend Saturday. I can see why. The reservoir level is way down! Just getting to the water is a challenge. Maybe this was nice years ago but it’s a good ways out from Orfino. Not worth the drive.
Trailhead view is beautiful. Hike is down to the Snake River, which is over 5 miles each way. Major elevation change. Parking is free for up to 48 hours. No amenities. Small store and restaurant nearby.
How much is the tent area from September 15. To 18 morning two people
