Cute little RV park off the highway. Very quite with a small lake. Families can enjoy fishing, swimming, yard games, fire pit, and very dog friendly with a fenced dog park. We are tent campers and had a nice spot on lake. only a few tent sites. Super clean bathrooms with hot shower.

    Trestle Creek RV Park

    Owners are snobby.

This campground is in an older couple’s front yard. It’s got a pretty running creek called Trestle Creek running through there yard off of the mountain side. Which they have their property on. They also live on said property, so they are always watching... Beware! Lol Sooo.. They kicked us out because the guy’s wife saw our kitty was on top of another guest’s car... Soo bad! oh! and the other reason: my cat was catching mice and killing them, and we would pick them up as soon as we would see them. Umm.. isn’t that what cats do..? Idk... and they would always complain we were awake all nite when we stayed up til one or two am. We (mom and I) were staying here for 3 months. And were perfectly quiet. They just thought it was odd or something for some reason... I don’t get it. We paid to be there, long term, we’re not keeping anyone up.. what’s the big deal? So ya, and the spots are super duper close next to each other. Like within two feet... yeah.. no privacy. I felt weird sitting outside in my spot with a friend in chairs even. And they frown upon having any visitors come see you. So it’s more of a rich, quiet, pretentious, older people’s camping place.

    Caribou Campground

    Primitive!

This campground is as primitive as you can yet, yet beautiful. Although situated right off the road, this spot tucks in next to the creek and provides great access to northern Yaak area and lots of wildlife and hiking. The location does not include water (other than the creek) but does have pit toilets.

    Yaak River Campground

    Nice campground

This campground has camping on both sides of the Yaak river. I would not recommend anything over 25 ft but that's me. Our 34RLSA 5er couldn't get in. Deep woods feel with all the trees and shade. Solar would be a challenge. 40 or so sites water spigot available. Beautiful area. 6 miles east if Idaho border.

    Reeder Bay Campground

    Beautiful Lake views

Our favorite lake in N Idaho. The view of chimney rock is spectacular. Easy access to the sandy beach. Weather in June can be unpredictable, the Spring storms are epic. Camp hosts are almost invisible, but there if you have questions. Lots of children playing and riding bikes through the campground makes this one of our happy places.

    Smith Lake Campground

Small Campground close to Bonner’s Ferry

This is a small campground just a few minutes outside of Bonner’s Ferry. Probably 6 spaces, all big enough for a car or van but not suitable for large RV’s. Vault toilets and the ubiquitous green campground pumps/drinking fountain for potable water.

You can’t see Smith Lake from the campground, but it is just a few minute walk through the trees. The lake itself looks decent for swimming.

Although definitely in bear country, there were no food boxes. We were motorcycling camping so made sure to put everything away. That close to Bonner’s Ferry perhaps risk of bears not as great, but hard to know.

The campground is adjacent to private land that has been logged, and there was logging activity while we were there. It didn’t bother us, but the proximity to town coupled with how close it is to homes and other private property makes it not a destination campground in any respect and hardly far enough out of town to constitute getting away. But, it made a good stop for the night on our way to Montana and points beyond.

    Sullivan creek campground#2

    Free Camping

The campgrounds are located on Sullivan Creek Rd that runs along Sullivan Creek. There over 30 sites along the river over several miles. Some of them do not have numbers. All the sites are first come and are Free

We camped at site #6 over Memorial Day weekend.

At the site there was a bear box and a fire ring with a moveable grill cover. Some of the sites do have bathrooms. However, we didn’t have one so make sure to bring the appropriate toilet supplies. The size of our site could fit two Rv’s and several tents (Our pop up tent trailer is 25ft). The site has a lot of shade so depending on the time of year make sure to bring the weather appropriate clothing. During our stay it got very cold and we needed to use our heater.

The river is about 35 yards from the site and the dirt road is about 20 yards from the main Camping area.

Dogs do not have to be on leash. However, this time of the year the river was cold and very fast and if your dog is not trained using a leash or tether system for safety would be beneficial.

There are several hiking/game trails you can walk or drive too. Sullivan lake is right down the road about a 5 minute drive you can access additional hiking trails.

Firewood is not provided so make sure to purchase prior and/or bring a ax to cut up the wood that has been left behind.

Overall we loved this area and will be going back this summer when it’s warmer and the river is safe enough to swim with our dogs:)

Here is the exact coordinates of the site #6

    Bonner County Fairgrounds

    Great little campground

Pros: nicely forested providing shade to many sites, inexpensive, tons of space to walk dogs, water and electric at sites, dump and water station easy to navigate. Conveniently located with a short drive into Sandpoint and all there is to do there. Cons: sites are small
