    River Point RV Park

    Newer, Nice, Maintained, Friendly!

This is a nice place. Not too expensive, close to town, traffic noise isn't bad, great staff and host. It's clean, newer amenities include some limited food items, ice, BBQs, dog area, propane, pool table, tennis court (or whatever ball you want to use for this size net), 1/2-court basketball, volleyball. They even have the balls to use (don't know about tennis or other similar-size balls though).

Large, wide spaces, many pull throughs. I can fit my truck next to my travel trailer. Asphalt drives and stall sites. Showers/restrooms are clean, so is the laundry area, all with newer equipment. Each shower/water closet is its own small room, hooks, bench, ADA accessible, sink, just like your own restroom. Laundry is $2 wash, $2 dry, quarters.

Indian Creek Campground — Lake Owyhee State Park

    Wow!

We followed our RV GPS and it showed the campground (CG) as being at the dam, but we had about 5 miles more to go. There were reviews that the road to the CG areas was challenging. We had called the ranger station and asked if we could get a 39’ 5th wheel up the road and had asked on our FB owners group, both said yes just take it slow. The “fun” starts at the dam with the most challenging portion being after the turn-off for the first CG, McCormack CG, which has sites with 30 AMP and water. We added a video to this review showing the drive  to Indian Creek CG about a mile further up the road. We are seasoned 5th wheelers and went slow with no problem. While we were there a 42’ 5th wheel came in with no problem as well. If you decide to bring a big rig especially the first time, suggest arriving/departing on a non weekend day to try and avoid meeting up with a boater on the single lane road. The lake gets a lot of daily boat activity with most boaters in by 9:00 AM and out around 3:00 PM. When you enter the CG you are on the first level where the camp host resides. There are info boards on which one had the name of people coming in with reservations, but there was no formal check in. There was no problem getting to back-in site 62 with water and 50/30 AMP. Sites 62-67 are on the upper 3rd level. Water pressure was about 40 psi and no issues with the 50 AMP. There is no cell phone service here and we knew that coming in. You are about an hour away from amenities so plan accordingly. Near the dam, there’s a small hut that rents kayaks etc. and states WiFi is available, but we didn’t try it. We did set up our satellite and as there are no shade trees on the 3rd level there was a clear shot to the southern sky. The 2nd level has some trees plus two cute little cabins, and more trees on the 1st level. There are several vaulted restrooms in the CG and at the boat ramp. Sites in both CGs vary in size but seemed consistent with website size descriptions. The dump station is back up the road at the McCormack CG along with the shower houses. Have to say the drive was well worth the stunning mountain and lake views. We had mule deer and a covey of quail visit us mornings and evenings. Even in mid August, we pretty much had the CG to ourselves, Mon- Thurs.

    Ambassador RV Resort

    Absolutely Nicest!!!

We stayed at the Ambassador RV Resort in Caldwell, Idaho in July and September 2021. This is one of the nicest, cleanest, well-maintained parks we have stayed at. This RV resort is a short drive off I84 and when you pull through the front gate, you become immediately aware that you are in for a great stay. The park is impeccably maintained. Huge pull-thru sites on level river rock pads. Directly beside the rock pad is a wide concrete patio area followed by another wide grassy area. Tons of room to set-up and relax outside. The pool, hot tub, and steam room are centrally located and are clean and inviting. The office and maintenance staff are top notch. You can even drop your garbage bag at the back of your camper in the morning and they pick it up and dump it for you. If you need propane, they will pick up your tank and bring it back to you. The resort also has the nicest gated dog run area we have ever seen. The WiFi worked great and they have cable. It was an absolute joy to stay here and we went back a second time this summer because we enjoyed it so much! For videos of the resort, visit our YouTube channel: Jeff & Steff’s Excellent Adventure.

    The Wagon Wheel

    Small grounds with peaceful atmosphere

These grounds are truly tiny. There are several spaces occupied by long term residents and others have visitors like us who are just passing through. The grounds themselves are well-kept with lots of mature trees around the sites providing shade and large shrubs and fences ensuring privacy from the outside.

The park has easy entry on N 18th, the park roads are quite wide and navigable and there’s an exit gate just on the other side. While the park accommodates large trailers, I believe all spots are back-in and there’s a couple tricky areas that would be best suited for small trailers. For $40, the price is reasonable for a level pad and full hookups. It’s very quiet, situated off the main road across from a cemetery and a funeral home. It’s a really great option if you want to pay a bit less than the large park down the street and be around far fewer other RVers!

    Mountain Home RV Park

Mountain Home is a great place to stay

Mountain Home RV Resort is a picturesque park with over 280 spots split between a more established shaded spots and newer less shaded area. There are many long term residents yet given the number of available spots this does not present a problem. Shower and laundry facilities are plentiful and clean. There is no charge to use the shower and the cost of washers and driers is nominal. I would defiantly stay here again.

    Jacks Creek Campground

    Great open area on water!

Several sites along reservoir with camping literally on the water's edge. Out of probably a dozen sites, most are rv friendly, even a couple of sites for big rigs. This campground is a utility operated natural area by Idaho Power and very well maintained. Fishing, kayaking and bird watching abounds. Very quiet, has the cleanest pit toilets I've ever seen (there's 3), fire pit rings, boat launch and excellent verizon cell service. Paved road through pristine farmland to the gravel road entrance about 3 miles beyond the small community of Bruneau. 5 stars.

    Boise Riverside RV Park

The Perfect RV Park For Visitors to Boise, Idaho

This RV Camping Site is AWESOME! They do allow tent camping and have cabins. They have full hookups for RV's as well. There is a lower rate for "back-ins" to the Boise River Greenbelt. They also have a higher rate for Pull Through Sites for RVs. There is so much to do in the area. Biking, hiking, walking along the Boise River. There is also some great fishing on the Boise River. This location is centered for city goers, snow skiers, white water rafters and anglers. We visited some nice restaurants within a short drive of the campgrounds. We rode our bikes along the trails, upstream and downstream. The campgrounds also rent bikes for those that don't have their own :-) You will not be disappointed with this campground if you want to get to know Boise, Idaho.

Guide to Melba

The Snake River valley near Melba, Idaho sits at approximately 2,300 feet elevation in southwest Idaho's semiarid terrain. Summer temperatures regularly reach the 90s with occasional 100+ degree days, while winter brings freezing nights. Most rv campgrounds near Melba maintain year-round operations, though amenities like pools typically close in colder months.

What to do

River activities: Access the Snake River directly from Rivers Edge RV Park where kayaking provides a unique state-crossing experience. "You can kayak from the camp area on the Snake River, and within just a couple miles, you officially kayaked to Oregon," notes camper Matt S. The park also offers good fishing opportunities throughout the warmer months.

Fishing opportunities: Catch channel catfish in spring at Snake River RV Resort, where the shallow waters warm earlier than other sections of river. "When the weather warms up in the spring this is a great place to catch channel catfish in the shallows," reports one reviewer. The resort provides direct river access with spots for small boats.

Urban exploration: Use campgrounds as a base for city adventures in the Treasure Valley. "Downtown Caldwell is interesting. And downtown Nampa isn't very far. Heck, downtown Boise is less than 30 minutes away most days," notes Kevin D. about staying at Abundant Life RV Park. Caldwell's Indian Creek Plaza and Nampa's historic downtown are within 15-20 minutes of most Melba area campgrounds.

What campers like

Easy highway access: Many campgrounds near Melba provide straightforward access from Interstate 84. "Easy access, clean, and even after hours was easy to check-in," mentions Christopher N. about Abundant Life RV Park. Several parks offer after-hours check-in procedures with information packets for late arrivals.

Riverside locations: Waterfront campsites create peaceful settings despite proximity to urban centers. "This spot is on the Boise River, a short trek from wineries, shopping and the river. Something for everyone," writes Amy S. about Boise Riverside RV Park. Many sites feature river views with walkable access to greenbelts and paths.

Recreation options: On-site amenities vary but often include multiple recreational facilities. "It's got very nice access to a lot of plazas that are really RV friendly. The sites are well maintained and the site itself is quite beautiful," says Justin R. about KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort. Swimming pools, game rooms, and community pavilions are common at the larger RV parks in the area.

What you should know

Weather considerations: Summer heat requires preparation, especially during July and August when temperatures routinely exceed 90°F. "There was a nice pool and lots of grassy areas to walk our dogs. If you would like to see videos on this park and others, please visit our YouTube channel," notes a reviewer about Snake River RV Park.

Spacing between sites: Site size and spacing vary significantly between parks. "It has a fairly nice new bathhouse, a few washers & dryers, a workout room, community room, and a small playground," mentions Kevin D., adding that most parks in the area are situated near busy roads or commercial areas.

Reservation timing: During summer months, booking well in advance is essential at most Mountain Home RV Park and similar facilities. "From the arrival greeting to the spaces themselves, the facilities and the landscaping... it's all warm and welcoming. They take great care of this park," writes kristin S., highlighting that popular parks fill quickly during peak seasons.

Tips for camping with families

Swimming facilities: Pools provide welcome relief during hot summer days. "The pool, hot tub, and steam room are centrally located and are clean and inviting," mentions one camper at Ambassador RV Resort. Most pools operate from Memorial Day through September, with some parks offering heated options for extended seasonal use.

Play areas: Look for campgrounds with dedicated children's facilities. "There is a greenbelt that crosses an old train bridge and then runs along the water," notes Kelsey G. about Caldwell Campground and RV Park, adding that their fishing pond is nice for families. Several parks offer playgrounds, sports courts, and green spaces.

Nearby attractions: Roaring Springs Water Park sits less than 15 minutes from several RV parks. "It is near the the central part of Meridian, there is no open land, rivers or other natural attractions within walking distance. It is near the Roaring Springs Water Park, shopping and I-84," mentions Amy S. about KOA Meridian, providing context for family planning.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategies: Request back-in sites along greenbelts or water features when possible. "Try to get a back in site to the green belt if you can," suggests Jenny W. about Boise Riverside RV Park. These sites typically offer more privacy and better views than interior pull-through options.

Service availability: Most RV campgrounds near Melba, Idaho offer full hookups with 50-amp service. "Huge pull-thru sites on level river rock pads. Directly beside the rock pad is a wide concrete patio area followed by another wide grassy area," notes a reviewer at Ambassador RV Resort, indicating the typical setup at higher-end parks.

Laundry facilities: On-site laundry services vary in capacity and condition. "Really nice and bright laundry room," mentions Kelsey G. about Caldwell Campground. Costs average $1.50-2.50 per load, with most parks providing between 2-6 machines depending on the facility size.
