Lafayette Blue Springs State Park Campground

Another fun stop along the Suwannee River

One of 5 river camps along the Suwanee River and one of the nicest. This system of river camps currently is first come first served with no fee - but that could change soon and screened sleeping platforms may require reservations. Reservations can be made for groups and are suggested. Suwannee River camps are spaced a days paddle apart and are wonderfully convenient (especially in summer when afternoon rains come daily and bugs are everywhere).

Most of the time you will have a camp host on the property.

River camp has bath house with water and electric, grills, fire pits, tent camping area and screened sleeping platforms with electric, lighting and ceiling fans. Many units also have hooks to hang you hammocks. There are 5 sleeping pavilions typically will hold 6-8 persons and have small corner tables with small bench. Each has picnic table and fire ring. You will find a broom in each shelter - please sweep out and leave clean for next group. Camp host oftentimes has firewood available for sale.

There are trails to explore around springs and sinks. You can learn a lot about Florida's Aquifer and more staying at this and other camps. Spring fed pools around take out area are a refreshing 72 degrees year round!

Tent camping area has fire pit and picnic table to share with others

At high water access to stairs to take out and to camp can be difficult.

Note: Always take paddles, PFD's, fishing equipment, food items and valuables to your camping area - do not leave in boats. There are raccoons and other nocturnal creatures and an occasional bear passing through.

Buddy camped next to our friends in a nice shady site. Lazy River pool and big big water slide was very refreshing after a long travel day. Had a lot of activities for families. This campground has cabin rentals, tent sites and RV camping. Also many water attractions such as a 60 foot water slide, lazy river, splash pad, Water Wars, Down Pour Derby, and zero entry swimming pool. Easy trip into historical Madison.

    Suwannee River State Park Campground

Wonderful option for tent or rv camping

Electric and water hook ups. Camping sites are large enough for 2 tents. Shaded well. There’s a decent boat ramp with over flow parking for the truck and trailer. Great for kayaking and Small boating. Trails are great for hiking and a few for mountain biking. Neat cemetery back in the grass lands near ranger station, lots of tortoises to see. Pet friendly for domestic pets. Ranger station was very helpful and knowledgeable about trails for longer distance biking. Wood for sale. Hot water bath house as well. Site has picnic tables. Very clean area.

    Reed Bingham State Park Campground

    Beautiful end spacious state park

Wonderful State Park in southern Georgia! Chose our site from the pictures and it was perfect. Sites in lower loop one were spaced out and the back in sites were tucked into the woods, just the way we had hoped. Most sites are gravel and ours was well maintained and level, with a new large picnic table and fire pit with grill cover. The basic cable was a bonus! Restrooms were older but clean and well stocked. The upper loop 2 had a brand new bath house, and both had laundry facilities. The park itself has TONS of open green space! Great quiet weekend getaway.

Holton Creek River Camp — Suwannee River Wilderness Trail

    Rest on the River

One of 5 river camps along the Suwanee River and the 2nd camp from White Springs. This system of river camps currently is first come first served with no fee - but that could change soon and screened sleeping platforms may require reservations. Reservations can be made for groups and are suggested. Our outfitter American Canoe Adventures makes our reservations for us. The Suwannee River river camps are spaced a days paddle apart and are wonderfully convenient (especially in summer when afternoon rains come daily and bugs are everywhere).

Most of the time you will have a camp host on the property and MAY have firewood for sale. Their site is hte last site past the bathrooms(and they are past all the sleeping pavilions.

This river camp has lots of tent camping space, a small bath house with water and electric, grills, fire pits, and screened sleeping platforms with electric, lighting and ceiling fans. Many units also have hooks to hang you hammocks. Sleeping pavilions typically will hold 6-8 persons and have small corner tables with small bench. Each has picnic table and fire ring. You will find a broom in each shelter - please sweep out and leave clean for next group.

There is a nice beach at lower water levels to pull up your vessel or you can tie boat up under ramp. At high water this ramp can be tricky to unload from in a strong current (we have seen it with no beach visible) Always take paddles, PFD's, fishing equipment, food items and valuables to your camping area - do not leave in boats. There are raccoons and other nocturnal creatures and an occasional bear passing through.

Swimming and fishing are nice here. Lots of places to explore. Make sure you have some bug spray for evenings in summer months

    Reed Bingham State Park Campground

    All around fun campground

We love this state park park with its large wooded campsites, 375 acre lake and river for paddling & fishing, 7 miles of multi use trails for hiking & biking trails, playgrounds, and putt putt golf. Home to gopher turtles, alligators, deer and seasonal home to vultures and bald eagles makes wildlife spotting fun. The landscape runs the gamut from coastal plain to pine forest. Those visiting for the day may enjoy the catfish cabin restaurant just outside the park. Since the park is only 7 miles from 1-75 this can easily be a great overnight stop.

Reed Bingham is located on route 37 which is an Agro-tourism road. The route features vineyards, olive farms, boutique hotels, specialty shops, local produce, farms and two state parks....to name just a few places for you to visit. We also enjoyed biking to the Horse creek winery in Sparks, Ga just 7 miles away. (This winery is also a harvest host).

    Visit for more info www.gagrowntrails.com

Campground- sites are large and graveled. Outer loop locations have more shade trees. Premium sites have sewer in addition to water/30/50AMP picnics tables, fire rings and some with grills too. There are no cabins.

The paddle in campground for 30 is pretty cool since it is its own island. There is also a nice group/pioneer camping and a couple of walk in tent sites that are on a little island with a bridge walkway.

There are rentals for bikes and paddling. The beach for swimming is more of a wading beach and since I have seen the alligators in this lake i do not recommend swimming anywhere else on your own.

Paddling/Fishing is fun on the 375 acre lake. The lake also connects to little river and it is a @ 3 hour leisurely up river paddle to Red Robin Boat ramp in Adel Georgia (aka Colquitt boat ramp) ->if you have a way to drop off and paddle downriver to Reed Bingham it would be more relaxing.

The 5k running/walking route for the annual Little River 5k is easy to follow in the park for your activity pleasure.

    Reed Bingham State Park Campground

    Excellent

Wow! This park is awesome. Site 34, pull thru, FHU with gravel site. Site is very large. 50 amp. Camphost was excellent. Restrooms are so very clean, as is the entire park. Very well maintained. Picnic table, fire pit, and grill. We rode our bikes over the dam. Nice ride.

Guide to Valdosta

Cabin lodging options near Valdosta, Georgia provide easy access to the region's waterways and outdoor recreation areas. Most cabin rentals in this part of South Georgia sit within state parks or private campgrounds, with elevations around 200 feet above sea level. The subtropical climate creates warm, humid conditions from May through September, while winters remain relatively mild with occasional frost.

What to do

Water recreation: Reed Bingham's 375-acre lake hosts numerous activities for cabin guests. "There is a miniture golf and playground within sight of the campground. Good place to get together with family and friends," according to Roger W. The lake connects to Little River for extended paddling opportunities.

Hiking and biking trails: Suwannee River State Park offers multiple trails alongside its cabins. "We loved the hikes went on 3 of them. There were a few more we didn't have time to explore. Don't miss out on the hiking though really cool trails!" explains Laura C. Trail difficulties vary from easy walking paths to more challenging routes.

Live music opportunities: Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park combines cabin accommodations with regular performances. "Live Music is a presence at the park which hosts weekend shows at the restaurant and bar, and the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is host to several big music festivals of all genres," notes Bryan R. Weekend events often feature local artists at the onsite restaurant.

What campers like

Easy interstate access: Cabins at Lake Park Campground provide convenient overnight stops. "We camp here as our midway stop from Atlanta to Orlando. It's easy to pull right off the interstate, gas up and then pull into the campground. It's always quiet and super clean!" writes Debbie K. Many cabins sit just minutes from I-75 exits.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: The region's cabins offer significant animal sightings. "Home to gopher turtles, alligators, deer and seasonal home to vultures and bald eagles makes wildlife spotting fun," explains Travyl Couple at Reed Bingham State Park. Morning hours typically provide the best viewing conditions.

Golf course proximity: Madison RV Resort features cabin rentals alongside a 9-hole course. "Our nightly rate was based on the monthly rate and included a golf cart and golfing on their well maintained 9 hole course," notes MickandKarla W. Some packages include golf cart rental with cabin stays.

What you should know

Train noise affects some locations: Several cabin sites experience periodic train disturbances. "If you are allergic to train noise, there is a train track adjacent to the CG. Trains didn't run every day, but when they did, they have been during daylight hours," reports MickandKarla W. about Madison RV Resort cabins.

Seasonal insect considerations: Bug activity intensifies during warm months. "Stay away from campgrounds by the lake during late May HORRIBLE DEAR FLIES," warns Naiviv R. about Ragan Family Campground cabins. Many locations provide screened porches for protection.

Varied accessibility features: Some cabins offer specialized facilities. "Very clean and nice facilities. Wonderful staff! Great trees for hammocking!!" Jessica W. notes about Suwannee River State Park. Call ahead to confirm specific accessibility requirements for individual cabins.

Tips for camping with families

Water park amenities: Cabin rentals at family-oriented campgrounds often include water features. "This place is awesome. A kids dream. Water park, lazy river, a park, fishing, and family activities. 10/10. Will be back," Brandi M. shares about Ragan Family Campground. These amenities typically operate seasonally from April through September.

Playground proximity: Request cabins near play areas for convenience. "There is a large grassy area in the middle of the loop for the kids to play soccer, set up the slack-line, etc. They also enjoyed the playground, climbing tree and mini-golf nearby," Christy C. mentions about Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center.

Activity scheduling: Many campgrounds with cabins organize family events. "The CG was more adult-oriented with a pickleball court and activities such as group walks or special events like golf tournaments/leagues, karaoke, and potlucks," explains MickandKarla W. Check activity calendars upon arrival for weekly schedules.

Tips from RVers

Off-season cabin alternatives: RVers sometimes switch to cabins during maintenance periods. "This is a great park. Clean, very nice trails, full hookups," notes Annell N. about Suwannee River State Park's cabins, which provide similar amenities to RV sites but with solid protection from weather.

Cabin spacing considerations: Unlike some RV areas, cabins typically offer more separation. "The sites were large and graveled. Outer loop locations have more shade trees," explains Travyl Couple at Reed Bingham. Most cabin sites accommodate at least one vehicle alongside the structure.

Internet connectivity varies: Cabin-based remote workers should check connection quality. "I can say the WiFi was excellent. Often places (including hotels) will advertise free WiFi and you're lucky to be able to download an email. Here my wife was able to video conference and we were able to stream movies without issue," Robert L. reports about Tifton RV Park I-75, where cabins share the same network as RV sites.
