What to do

Wildlife viewing: Birdwatching is popular around Goat House Farm. The farm offers unique animal interactions where "you literally camp with goats. The male goats hang out right beside you and your tents. (Be sure to keep your tents closed or they will sleep with you too, ha!)"
Water activities: The Eagles Roost RV Resort provides access to nearby water features. "There's an adorable, and useful, store... We DID observe many twitterpated squirrels and hear and see some lovely birds in the canopy," shared one visitor describing the natural surroundings.
What campers like
Clean facilities: High Bluff Campground maintains well-kept grounds. A camper reported, "The campground itself was clean and well maintained. No power, no water, no WiFi, no store. T-Mobile was very good with 300+ Mbps."
Quiet atmosphere: Many glamping options near Thomasville provide peaceful settings. According to one visitor at Creekside RV Park, "So many things to do no reason to leave! Lazy river, swimming pool, water park, tiki bar, lake, restaurant, golf cart rentals, cabins, activities, Gym and store!"
Family-friendly environments: Parents appreciate the activities available for children. A Ragan Family Campground visitor shared, "This place is awesome. A kids dream. Water park, lazy river, a park, fishing, and family activities. 10/10. Will be back."
What you should know
Limited amenities: Some sites operate without modern conveniences. At High Bluff Campground, "You have to love the lonelyness here. On the weekend there have been three other parties with tents. From Sunday to Monday we have been the only ones. Then it becomes really lonely, dark and quiet out here."
Wildlife encounters: Expect to see local fauna. One camper noted, "4 stars for no water or electric hookups.. Also I don't do spiders and they are all over the place here.. And HUUUUGEEE at that. Fishing dock is nice and you can see lots of gators."
Reservation requirements: Most glamping sites near Thomasville require advance booking. Newport Park costs around $15-17 per night with a camper noting it's "located on a busy HWY 98 so there is traffic noise during the day. St. Marks wildlife refuge is right across the street and Wakulla Springs is about 10 minutes down the road."
Tips for camping with families
Kid-friendly activities: Select campgrounds with dedicated children's areas. At Ragan Family Campground, "Water attractions such as a 60 foot water slide, lazy river, splash pad, Water Wars, Down Pour Derby, and zero entry swimming pool. Easy trip into historical Madison."
Animal experiences: Children enjoy camping with animals. One visitor to Goat House Farm mentioned, "The kids absolutely loved it. They cried when it was time to leave and told all the animals bye. The staff is so friendly and helpful."
Site selection: Choose sites away from potential hazards. At High Bluff Campground, a camper observed, "The sites marked in cross ties are narrow and some spots are difficult to get a larger camper in. I would visit again."
Tips from RVers
Site size considerations: Measure your rig against available space. A camper at Eagles Roost RV Resort shared, "When we got there we were in a site directly behind the office and it was super narrow. With my long camper I could not make the turn and keep the trailer in the pad."
Utility locations: Check hookup positioning before arrival. As one RVer noted, "The sewer hookups were at the very back of the site. Even with 2 ten foot hoses I could not reach the hookup and ended up having to find a dump station later."
Road conditions: Access roads vary in quality. At High Bluff Campground, "The last 3 miles are dirt road, but in good condition as long as you can stay in the middle without traffic. Our lot #5 was pretty even."
