Camping World is conveniently connected to Lake Park Campground, providing emergency pet supplies if needed. Highway noise from I-75 can be heard at most properties in the area, though pets typically adjust quickly to the background sound. River Park RV Park

      Visiting family

We chose this park because it was close to family we were visiting.

      Pros:

      Full hookups

      Laundry mat

      Showers

      Dog park

      Close to interstate

      Cons:

      Uneven sites

      Very close together

Tiny concrete pad, very little grass

No picnic table or fire ring

If you sit outside, your just looking at the side of the RV right next to you.

Lots of fulltimers with pretty rundown sites

Overly concerned about the grass while letting the rest of the park run down

Nothing worth getting pics of here

We will try a different park when we go back.

      Another hurricane victim

Another KOA on our trip to circumnavigate Florida. Another KOA recovering from hurricane damage. But, they do have some things open: the rv sites are open, the dog park (a nice large dog park), the hot tub. They have propane and a limited store. There are also tent sites and cabins. Lots of large live oaks with Spanish moss survived the storm as well. It is about an hour from the Suwannee River State Park where you can see Manatees in the clear waters of the spring.

Madison RV Resort and Golf Course

      Enjoyable, quiet and well-kept

Very nice resort. We don’t golf (this was the closest place to our grandkids!) so I can’t speak about the golf course. The RV resort is wonderful! Friendly and polite staff and neighbors. Clean laundry and bathhouse. A large dog park. My only suggestion would be to divide the park into “little dogs, big dog” sections. Big rig friendly. We would most definitely recommend this resort!

      Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort

      Great river & springs access

First time here. Love it, will be back for sure. Great river/springs access. Great for kayaking/tubing or boating. Great dog areas. Food is good on the weekends, live music, very poor wifi. Spots by the dog park don’t have shade but most of the other sites do. Lots of fun activities. Great bike path just off property. Friendly staff. Site 212 was 50 amp only so I had to use a converter. Can rent kayaks on site if you don’t own one.

      Good Overnight Spot

Overnighted here on the way to FL Keys.  Pulled in way after hours.  Campground was easy to navigate.  Site was a pull through and very narrow but it worked for one night.

Bonus was a large dog park right across the street.

    Guide to Lake Park

Campgrounds near Lake Park, Georgia sit just off Interstate 75 at the Georgia-Florida state line, where temperatures remain moderate year-round with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The area features a mix of small lakes and wooded sites with characteristic Spanish moss-draped trees that provide natural cooling during summer months when temperatures regularly exceed 90°F.

    What to do

Water activities at small lakes: Madison RV Resort features a small pond where many campers enjoy fishing. One visitor noted, "We easily backed into 60A and set up for our two-month stay" with access to the water feature.

Golfing opportunities: Madison RV Resort and Golf Course combines camping with golf access. According to a reviewer, "Our nightly rate was based on the monthly rate and included a golf cart and golfing on their well maintained 9 hole course."

Wildlife observation: Suncoast RV Campground offers opportunities to see local animals. A visitor mentioned, "Lots of animals to see and the staff is outstanding, friendly and accommodating... Very pet friendly." The park features a welcoming community of ducks and even some goats to visit.

Hiking nearby: Suwannee River State Park Campground provides multiple trail options. A camper shared, "We loved the hikes went on 3 of them. There were a few more we didn't have time to explore. Don't miss out on the hiking though really cool trails!"

    What campers like

Spacious sites: Valdosta Oaks RV Park offers generous site dimensions. One reviewer commented, "Even ground huge spots. Your neighbors are far enough away." This provides extra space between camping units compared to more crowded parks.

Clean facilities: Lake Park Campground maintains well-kept bathhouses. A visitor noted, "Bathhouse was clean and big and private.. best I have seen so far." The facilities receive regular maintenance to ensure cleanliness.

Easy interstate access: Most campgrounds in the area provide convenient highway access. A camper at Valdosta Oaks mentioned, "The location was the perfect stopping point for overnighting. It is located close to I-75 so very easy to get off the highway and back on in the morning."

Quiet environments despite highway proximity: Jennings KOA offers a peaceful setting for overnight stays. One reviewer stated, "Easy pull-through site right off of 75" while still maintaining a relatively quiet environment suitable for resting between travel days.

    What you should know

Highway noise: Most campgrounds near Lake Park experience some traffic sound from I-75. A camper at Lake Park Campground noted, "It's near the highway so there is a little traffic noise but that doesn't bother us."

Limited amenities in immediate area: Madison RV Resort visitors should prepare accordingly. A reviewer mentioned, "If you're a foodie or desire a robust touristy experience, this is probably not the destination for you." The nearest major shopping is in Valdosta, about 30 minutes away.

Varying site conditions: Site quality differs between and within campgrounds. At Eagles Roost RV Resort, a camper observed, "The site a large and easy to get into. They have a well stocked store and a decent pool." However, another noted site location challenges.

Weather considerations: The Georgia-Florida border experiences distinct seasons. Summer brings intense heat and humidity with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, while winter temperatures rarely drop below freezing but can occasionally dip into the 30s.

    Tips for camping with families

Look for campgrounds with designated play areas: Ragan Family Campground offers extensive recreation options. A visitor shared, "This place is awesome. A kids dream. Water park, lazy river, a park, fishing, and family activities. 10/10. Will be back."

Consider activities beyond the campground: Wild Adventures Theme Park is located near Lake Park. An Eagles Roost RV Resort reviewer mentioned, "We decided to stay there while visiting Wild Adventures," making it a convenient base for day trips.

Seek out dog friendly campgrounds near Lake Park: Rainbow Campground welcomes pets at their swimming areas. A guest noted, "It is such a great place to camp. I sent up my tent with a few friends had plenty of space. Water was available on site along with electric. Table grill and fire pit. Bathhouse was close by and the swimming is refreshing. The best part pet friendly."

Check for planned activities: Some campgrounds organize regular events. One visitor to Ragan Family Campground commented, "Tons to do a lot of planned activities if you want to participate. Fishing full hook ups. Easy to get around just walking."

    Tips from RVers

Select appropriate sites for your rig size: Some campgrounds have limited maneuverability. An Eagles Roost reviewer cautioned, "When we got there we were in a site directly behind the office and it was super narrow. With my long camper I could not make the turn and keep the trailer in the pad."

Check hookup locations: Utilities placement varies between sites. A camper at Eagles Roost noted, "The sewer hookups were at the very back of the site. Even with 2 ten foot hoses I could not reach the hookup and ended up having to find a dump station later."

Plan for overnight stays strategically: Lake Park's location makes it ideal for transit stops. One camper at Valdosta Oaks RV Park said, "We stopped here in May of 2020 enroute to leaving Florida. The location was the perfect stopping point for overnighting."

Consider seasonal stays for better value: Madison RV Resort offers extended-stay discounts. A reviewer explained, "Our nightly rate of $41 was based on the monthly rate, electricity, and a golf package with the cart," representing significant savings over daily rates.
