Description

National Forest

This campground is located along the Laramie River Road (County Road 103) near the confluence of the West Branch Laramie River and the Laramie River. It is situated in a mature lodgepole pine forest where the mountain pine beetle has been very active. As a result, many dead trees have been cut to provide for visitor safety. Although somewhat less shady than in years past, the facility still provides for a pleasant camping experience. Each of the 49 sites has a picnic table, fire grate and tent pad. Popular activities include stream fishing, hiking in the Rawah Wilderness and wildlife viewing.

Remote, quiet (most of the time), on the edge of the Cameron Peak fire burn

A long time favorite for our family. About 72 miles from the biggest town, Fort Collins. About 13 mile from the nearest services, which are limited, at Sportsman's Lodge & the Trading Post. 25 miles from Archer's and 26 miles from Glen Echo at Rustic which has a bit more to offer, including a restaurant and liquor store in addition to staples and touristy stuff.

1st come, no reservations, 41 sites with the usual basic campground amenities. On site host with firewood for sale. Situated between the tiny headwaters of the Laramie River and the much larger West Branch of the Laramie.

7ish miles from the pavement of Hwy 14 on dirt road. No cell and no Wifi. I'm not a fan of their water which is available at one pump, near site 3. Closest cell service and Wifi that I know of would be at Glen Echo.

Gateway to the Rawah Wilderness with the main access trailhead located a short walk away at the West Branch TH.

Beautiful Spot!

Beautiful camp sight! Went tent camping for 3 night and had a great time with my boyfriend. Found plenty of spots open Friday morning and stayed pretty empty through most of the day. Began filling up Saturday afternoon. Stayed in sight 21, close enough to a river to drown out some noise. Each sight is FF and does have a bear box, which is a nice addition. Camp sight was clean, bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. Camp host was very friendly! Plenty of spots to dip in the river or go fishing. I do wish it had more trees around each camp sight for privacy. Got to see a momma and baby moose pass through. Over all; a wonderful stay!

On the river

Campground on the river. Appears to have three loops and 40 sites total. Very clean bathrooms. Close to the west branch trailhead to hike in to the rawah wilderness.

Decent

Clean, well-maintained campground. More suited to RVs and trailers - spent 5 days in a tent. Great access to multiple trailhead sites. Tunnel was spared from the Chamber Peak fire. Arrived on Tuesday after 4th of July holiday and had pick of sites, full campground by Friday. I’d rate higher if I had a camper, but in a tent, there’s limited privacy, and a lot of traffic. Pitch sites are pretty close to the access road - which is great if you don’t want to carry your gear far, but not so great if you want a little privacy. If in a tent, I recommend #35, it’s close enough to the Laramie River that the noise of the water will drown out the noise of your neighbors!

Great location

About 5 miles up a well maintained gravel road. The host was very helpful and there's a nice hike from the campground. Wood available and a lot of shade. Stayed on a Monday and it was about 3/4 full by the end of the day.

Great place for short term or long term stay

Picked this campsite due to a last minute change of plans.  Maintained by American Land & Leisure which has been upgrading facilities, new fire rings and bear box storage containers.  The camp ground manager was visible working. Fireword is provide for sale on site.  Water is available.  Pit toilets are clean and less than 10 yers old.  sites are well spaced .  The facility has trails and fishing available with a drive of 1 mile to 12 miles.

Lots of fishing

This is our 2nd favorite campground. It is a bit remote, with no services anywhere near by but it is gorgeous. We love to fish & the Poudre Canyon is one of our favorite places to fish. The campground is always clean & has never been too crowded. Hoping to get back there this year. Happy camping!!!!
