Best RV Parks & Resorts near Rosamond, CA

Several RV parks surround Rosamond, California, providing convenient bases for motorhome travelers exploring the Mojave Desert region. Spaceport RV Park in Mojave offers year-round full hookups with 30-amp service on level gravel sites that accommodate big rigs. Mountain Valley RV Park in Tehachapi features 50-amp electric hookups, water connections, and spacious pull-through sites with picnic tables. Just south in Lancaster, Antelope Valley Fairgrounds RV Park provides water, electric, and sewer hookups with big-rig-friendly spaces. Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon in Acton offers year-round camping with full hookups including 50-amp service, plus amenities like a market and recreation facilities. Dump stations are available at all mentioned RV parks, though Mountain Valley charges an additional fee for this service. The roads leading to Tehachapi Mountain Park feature narrow, twisty sections with double-digit grade percentages and sharp hairpin turns, making it challenging for larger motorhomes. Sierra Trails RV Park in Mojave provides 50-amp service and full hookups on reservable sites. On-site propane service is available at select locations, with Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon offering refill service at competitive rates.

    Tapo Canyon Park

Clean and quiet, except for the birds

This is a very nice campground near everything but still away from it all. No issues parking our 42' 5th wheel here. Clean and quiet despite the peacocks. They can be rather loud when startled. I swear they could hear my morning alarm and squawked their disapproval. The camp host Shawn is AMAZING! Bathrooms are very clean. Showers are coin operated. DO NOT expect cell service. I could only work from this spot by placing my mobile HomeFi router on top of the camper. Our Verizon phones were paper weights. Make sure your reservations are complete online before arriving. The Rangers check the spots multiple times a week. The kids enjoyed the playground and fields. It's not uncommon to see and hear movie/TV production crews at the filming locations along the road. Pet friendly but be careful at night. Mountain lions were spotted while there.

Cabin Flat Trail Campground - CLOSED

    Difficult to reach, very primitive

We stayed at Cabin Flat several years ago, and it's one of the most difficult campgrounds to reach near Wrightwood in the Angeles National Forest. To get here, you need to take the Blue Ridge Trail Road from Inspiration Point off of Highway 2. This road is closed during the winter, as it traverses through Mountain High Ski Resort. That said, the campground itself is very basic. I would not recommend bringing an RV here as the dirt road to get down is winding and bumpy. Tent camping only.

    Arabian RV Oasis

A place to stay if you must.

Full hookups, concrete pads, picnic tables. Many full time campers parked with junk around them. The grounds need a ton of cleanup. Not the safest feeling being in this park.

    Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon

    This place is huge!

I think people give this campground such negative reviews for no reason to be honest. The road in is a little windy, but it's easy to get here. The staff were all very friendly during our week stay. Just note that they are going through a lot of updates, which is a good thing for the future!

All of sections A, B, & C were packed when we arrived. Any open spaces had a red power box indicating there was no power in that spot... There were quite a few of those. If you need cell signal you can ignore these sections anyway. Move on to Section N. Full 30 Amp hookups, great cell service ( T-Mobile & Verizon ), and a great sunset view! Skip Section K... that whole section was currently closed. Sounds like they're upgrading to 50 Amp but lost permits due to COVID and have to reapply? Check with the office on any outages for Section N though. They did have to turn off the water for one day and sewer for about 4 as they are doing sewer upgrades there. My only gripe about this section is I think there is either a dog breeder or humane society to the east. Sometimes all of the dogs just go crazy! There is a train too, but we couldn't really hear it from Section N.

The facilities and pool all looked pretty clean and nice. The grounds are taken care of and there is a lot of new landscaping on the west side of the campground. This place is absolutely huge by the way. It just keeps on going when we walked the dog towards the west side. There's a huge family pool over here but it was closed for the season. You could easily have a quiet family picnic past there because we didn't see a soul.

I feel Soledad is closer to and deserves a 4-star. They ARE really working hard on upgrades and take very good care of the place! Kudos to their hard work!

LA RV Resort at Action Camp

    First adventure out with motorhome

This was our first trip with our new motorhome and first camping trip ever.  The staff was really friendly and accommodating.   The grounds are nice and very large.  Sites are easy to navigate and pull into, especially for a first timer.

The RV sites are pretty close together but the full hookups makes it really nice.  Will stay here again and they are very pet friendly which was nice.

    Mountain Valley RV Park

    Quiet & relaxing spot

We needed somewhere to stay for one night as we were finishing up a cross-country drive. We loved how quiet the area was. The grounds are clean and well-kept. Starlink and Verizon service both work great here. Pet-friendly and lots of dogs around while we were here. No complaints!

Guide to Rosamond

The Rosamond area sits at the western edge of the Mojave Desert at approximately 2,300 feet elevation. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F while winter nights can drop below freezing. RV sites near Rosamond, California benefit from their proximity to Edwards Air Force Base and the aerospace industry, with several campgrounds catering to both short-term visitors and contract workers.

What to do

Mountain activities: Visit Tehachapi Mountain Park when staying at Mountain Valley RV Park. "Sites are right off runway for glider flying. We ended up extending stay from one night to four to watch air force cadet competition," notes Ricki, adding that you can "listen to the coyotes at night."

Watch gliders take off: The glider airport adjacent to Mountain Valley RV Park offers unique aerial entertainment. "In the morning we walked over to the Raven's Nest for breakfast and watched the gliders take off starting around 9am," shares Amy B., while Tom D. mentions that "the ability to book a glider flight" is available if "they have a pilot and time."

Visit the Mojave Air & Space Port: Located next to Spaceport RV Park in Mojave. "The coolest thing about this park (besides its nice price) is the Mojave Air & Space Port located immediately next door. Stop by its little park and cute, friendly restaurant where you can watch airplanes take off while having delicious fries or a milkshake," recommends Corinna B.

What campers like

Level sites with full hookups: Spaceport RV Park in Mojave offers basic amenities at reasonable rates. Michael C. notes, "Full hookup for $20.00/night and VERY helpful park staff!!! It's my understanding they let you dump for $5.00 and fill your freshwater tank for $2.00 even if you don't stay here."

Convenient locations: Antelope Valley Fairgrounds RV Park provides an accessible base in Lancaster. Karma S. mentions "nice showers, well kept bathrooms, good parking. Food shopping is close by. Nice power hookups. 50 volt." Brian C. adds that "if you're coming for a concert or to see a car show or something, sure, come spend the night at the RV lot."

Clean facilities: Castaic Lake RV Park maintains well-kept amenities. "Showers nice and clean, spot was level and sort of private," reports Ann-Marie C. Another camper shares, "Great camping 🏕. Although it was really hot the pool was nice and refreshing and clean. Our space was clean and perfect. The store had all the necessities we needed."

What you should know

Cell service concerns: Connectivity varies widely at RV parks near Rosamond. At Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon, Keisha D. experienced "no loud music, no barking dog, less dust, and dirt. There was however a train that ran around 3:30am every morning that was a disturbance and my Verizon cell service was nonexistent."

Site selection matters: Many campgrounds have significant variation between sites. Rachel A. notes that "campgrounds under construction to lay new pipes and beautify grounds" at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon. Similarly, Daniel M. reports about Antelope Valley Fairgrounds: "The place is clean. Sites are level. Full hook ups. But the bathroom is closed. The rate is double. Nothing here but a parking lot."

Noise considerations: Train noise affects multiple campgrounds. Elizabeth C. warns about Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon: "It's very very close to railroad tracks and at night the loud train kept waking us up." Similarly, airplanes can be an issue at Hollywood RV Park, as one reviewer notes, "the park is right next to the departure/arrival runway for Burbank and so if you don't fancy airplanes, you may not appreciate the noise."

Tips for camping with families

Seek parks with recreation amenities: Campgrounds with pools provide critical relief during hot months. At Hollywood RV Park, "facilities are in good condition" according to Russell W., while the entire property has "beautiful murals throughout park" as noted by Buneva J.

Verify bathroom availability: Facilities vary significantly between parks. Corinna B. explains Antelope Valley Fairgrounds has "clean showers and bathrooms" but is "essentially one big parking lot behind a fence." Similarly, Emily D. shares, "I definitely would not recommend this place for tents!"

Consider fairground events: When staying at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, check their event calendar. Corinna B. advises, "When we were there there was nothing going on at the fairgrounds, though I can imagine it would be a very different experience depending on what kind of events were happening (for better or worse)."

Tips from RVers

Size constraints: Many RV campgrounds near Rosamond have tight spots. At Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield, "the oranges are absolutely fantastic and makes you wonder why you can't get the same quality in a store," according to Semi H., who notes it's "big enough to comfortably walk our dogs and fairly quiet at night."

Utility variations: Check which hook-ups are available. For Mountain Valley RV Park, Mr. And Mrs. M. note "there is a dump station not full hookups and WiFi is only available when the cafe is open." This contrasts with Spaceport RV Park where, "spots are on gravel or a concrete pad with plenty of room to maneuver," according to Corinna B.

Reservation systems: Some parks require advance planning while others allow drive-ups. Michael C. mentions that at Castaic Lake RV Park, "propane and store are on site." Ann-Marie C. adds, "I needed a place just as an overnight and called them late in the afternoon and got a space in their overflow (20 amp, water only)."
