Best RV Parks & Resorts near Paradise, CA

Several RV parks operate near Paradise, California with varying levels of hookups and amenities. River Reflections RV Park in Oroville provides full hookups including 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections for motorhomes and travel trailers. Sites accommodate big rigs with pull-through access on primarily level terrain. "We were the only not long-term camper in the RV section," noted one visitor, highlighting the mix of seasonal and transient RV campers at many local parks. The Parkway RV Resort in Orland features concrete pads with full hookups, while Durango RV Resort (now Red Bluff KOA Journey) maintains 173 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp service available year-round, offering a combination of back-in and pull-through spots suitable for larger motorhomes.

Most RV parks in the region require advance reservations, particularly during summer months and on weekends when availability becomes limited. Cell service varies significantly throughout the area, with stronger coverage at parks closer to Interstate 5 and diminished reception in mountain locations. Dump stations are available at most parks, though some charge additional fees—Rolling Hills Casino Truck Lot charges $10 for dump station use despite offering full hookup sites. Pet policies generally permit dogs with standard restrictions, though several parks feature dedicated dog run areas. A recent review mentioned that Red Bluff KOA has "two dog run areas which are not much more than a small enclosed area for your dog, but they have a real dog wash." Winter travelers should note that while valley locations remain open year-round, higher elevation parks often close between Labor Day and Memorial Day.

    Mill Creek Resort

    Nice Private Campground

This campground is just south of Lassen Volcanic National Park.  It has two main sections, one for RVs and the other for tents.  There are a small number of RV sites with full hookups and then a larger number of tent sites.  The RV sites are fairly small, but felt separated enough to have some privacy.  The tent sites are a bit more rustic.

The other slightly odd part is that most of the RV sites were filled with people who came and stayed for the entire summer, year after year.  We were the only not long-term camper in the RV section.

    Pros:

    * Close to a lot of amazing scenery with Lassen

    * Well kept, clean, quiet campground

    * Camp store/restaurant is great

    * Laundry on site

    * Access to a nice little creek w/swimming hole

    Cons:

    * Camp store is open limited days

    * Tent sites only have pit toilets which are not the best maintained

    OK:

    * No fires in the RV sites

    * Showers were not always very clean

The Parkway RV Resort & Campground

    Great place for stopover

We found this site via the Dyrt app. We stayed one night, in an very hot week. We really appreciated the pool, the very friendly staff and clean restrooms. Note that the pull through sites have some shade, but the gravel is a small heat island, so it takes long to cool down in a camper van without AC.

    Rolling Hills Casino Truck Lot

    Hidden Gem!

Only $55 for a full hookup that’s a pull through. $50 for Good Sam Members. We came in too late to enjoy the comedy shows they have every first Saturday. If you happen to make it on time, “Carlinos” or the place the host it is in the North Tower. Go right at the main entrance. We missed it by wandering around the casino trying to find it. There are also amazing views at sunset and sunrise if you get to the lots closer to the end- which we didn’t. Great front desk staff! They also have routine patrol security.

Laundry: $2.00 for washing machines and $1.00 for dryers. Must be done by 10 pm with the last load starting at 8 pm.

Showers: $15/person- not included in RV fee

Dump station: $10- only from 9am- 5 pm, although each site has sewer hookups.

No wifi, but I’m not upset because the price was great and I had good cell coverage.

Rocky Point Campground - Lake Almanor

Beautiful, Good fishing, great swimming & boatingwe

We have been going here for years.  The spaces are large, sunny and shaded with lovely trees and all within walking  distance from the lake.  Staff is friendly and helpful and the park is always clean.  Love the fishing, swimming and hiking.  Beautiful views of the mountains and lake any direction.  Family and pet friendly at a reasonable cost.

Easy access, clean facilities, level 75' pull through spots

We enjoyed an overnight stay here. Clean facilities, well maintained grounds and friendly neighbors. Conveniently located just off I-5, far enough away from the noise. Casino, restaurants, doggy daycare and golf just next door. Sites are level 75 ft pull through sites. We will stay again. Lower numbered sites are closest to amenities.

    Collins Lake Recreation Area

A GREAT Campground for your Spring and Late Fall Getaway

We camped here TWICE in 2019. First time in mid April and 2nd time on the first weekend of November. Both times were AWESOME!!!
Both campsites, #66 and #116 had power, water and sewage. They were both lake front campsites, which meant the water or shoreline was right at our "front door" from our 27' travel trailer. They were both back in spots but with ample room to maneuver the trailer into a great spot, unhitch our truck and park the truck next to the Travel Trailer. Site #66 was closer to the camp store which was one of the best ones I have been to so far. They sell quite a bit of camping and fishing needs. They also have a great ice cream parlor. Don't miss out on that if you do decide to camp here!!!
The fishing is awesome on Collins Lake! We fished from kayaks and always caught fish for dinner :-) There are nice hiking and biking trails in and around the campground as well.
Just an FYI, in the Spring, the water level is much higher so the water line is closer to the campsites, especially #66. In the fall, pre-winter, the water level is much lower. It was about a 50 yard walk down to the water from #116 camp site, which is a lake front site. They do have a nice dump station row just outside the camping sites, so it is not necessary to have RV sewage at your campsite, which saves you a few $$.
The campground also rents different types of boats and cabins at this campground. See website for details :-)

    Red Bluff RV Park

    No bad!

We travel with 2 dogs in a 38’ class A with a tow. We did not make reservations just took a chance, success! The woman at the counter was very nice and cheerful they did have a spot that we would fit without unhitching. This is an older park so we were somewhat squished together but not bad. Very nice dog area (not fenced). Seemed to be mostly long term river’s here. Not bad for a one night stay. Those with longer rigs 40+ may want to think twice because of the tight turns and narrow lanes

    Gurnsey Creek

    Quiet, family and dog-friendly campground

This is a first-come, first-serve campground within the Lassen National Forest, about 14 miles from the southern entry gate of Lassen Volcanic National Park. My family and I arrived on a Thursday afternoon in June and there were plenty of campsites available. There were more people arriving on Friday and Saturday but still a handful of sites were available and it never got very crowded. The campground is near a highway but it stayed relatively quiet the whole time, since there's not much traffic on the road. The campground loop roads are not used much and make for a safe area for kids to ride bikes or scooters nearby the campsites. The only complaint I had about the campground is the large amount of cut wood logs that were stacked around the camp sites. It made the view a little less scenic but provided for a large amount of firewood. If you enjoy a quiet and serene camping experience near a National Park, I would definitely recommend this campground! It's also near the town of Chester, which has gas stations, restaurants, and a grocery store, as well as Lake Almanor, which has boating, swimming, and hiking trails.

Guide to Paradise

Campsites near Paradise, California range from full-service RV accommodations to tent camping areas with lakeside views. Situated in the northern Sierra Nevada foothills at elevations between 1,700 and 2,700 feet, this region experiences hot, dry summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters. Several campgrounds remain open year-round in lower elevation areas while higher locations close seasonally.

What to do

Lake activities at Bucks Lake: The Whitehorse Campground at Bucks Lake Recreation Area offers excellent fishing opportunities and lakeside trails. "Clean campground, great fishing, and nice trail around lake. Kids love camping here," notes one visitor. The campground operates from Memorial Day to Labor Day with 19 total spaces.

River access for boating: Woodson Bridge Mobile Home & RV Park provides Sacramento River access with seasonal fishing. "Green & leafy campground right on the Sacramento River! Full hookups (30 amp), with very clean bathhouse and a community lodge available during the day and also picnic and grill area. There's also a fish cleaning station and a seasonal fishing dock," a camper reports.

Wine tasting nearby: The Parkway RV Resort offers convenient access to local wineries. "There is wine tasting as well. Management kept in communication with us through text (my preferred method). Easy access to I-5," according to one reviewer who rated the campground 5 stars.

Swimming options: Lake Francis Resort maintains a dedicated swimming pool for campers when the lake gets crowded. "The pool goes from 3.5' ft to 5' back to 3.5' ft," notes a visitor. The resort also offers paddle boat and kayak rentals for water recreation.

What campers like

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Sycamore Ranch RV Park delivers excellent bird watching experiences along Dry Creek. "My favorite thing about this campground is the birds! I use the Merlin app to identify the birds here and so far this place holds my record of around 18 birds not including the more silent ones we saw. There are turtles and otters in the creek to check out as well," shares an enthusiastic camper.

Peaceful riverside locations: River Reflections RV Park provides sites directly on the Feather River. "The campsite we had was feet from the feather River. Who wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy with this as a background," writes one reviewer. Another camper notes, "Sites are spread out. The campground is well maintained with beautiful landscape and access/view of river."

Clean facilities: The Parkway RV Resort maintains exceptionally clean restrooms and grounds. "We needed a place to camp for the night, and Parkway was in the right location... When we arrived, the sites were clean and orderly, and there was actually grass and level parking spots," states a reviewer who found exactly what they needed.

Dog-friendly amenities: Rolling Hills Casino Truck Lot includes designated pet areas. "We enjoyed a pull thru full hookup spot. We had our dogs and 5 year old with us. There was a fair amount of space between sites," reports a family who stayed at the park. Another visitor praised "the best grassy, clean dog run" available for pets.

What you should know

Cell service limitations: Service varies significantly throughout the region, particularly at more remote locations. "Cell service is spotty at best and unfortunately WIFI was not working properly although that is not needed for camping, working was almost impossible," mentions a visitor to River Reflections RV Park.

Reservation requirements: Most campgrounds fill quickly, especially on weekends. "We stayed one night on our way up the 5. Nice tent site along the river, not too much interstate noise," notes a camper at Red Bluff KOA Journey, suggesting making reservations well in advance.

Noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience road or gun range noise. One River Reflections visitor cautions: "I can hear a gun range and a freeway. Basically in town, so not feeling like I'm enjoying nature... I wouldn't recommend this place if you want a serene escape."

Bathroom facilities vary: Sycamore Ranch RV Park offers code-protected bathrooms. "Bathrooms/showers for paid guest have a code to get in. The day use area has porta potties," explains a recent visitor. Whitehorse Campground provides vault toilets that are "serviced every day" according to campers.

Tips for camping with families

Look for kid-friendly water access: Lake Francis Resort offers gradual water entry at certain access points. "There are other places you can drive and park to get to the water, but there it a drop off into the water from there vs a gradual walk in," advises a family who stayed in one of their cabins.

Consider cabin options: Thousand Trails Lake of the Springs provides various accommodation types beyond just tent and RV sites. "We had such a fun time at this campground. Our site was in Section A on a dry creek bed. Dry in August at least. Each day a family of deer came thru our site and were so tame they ate fruit right out of the kids' hands," shares a family who enjoyed the wildlife encounters.

Plan for insects: Be prepared for yellowjackets at certain campgrounds. One Lake of the Springs visitor warns: "Watch out for meat bees... need a screen room to eat outside... they come out of nowhere."

Check pool availability: Red Bluff KOA Journey maintains a swimming pool that's especially welcome during hot weather. "Pool was refreshing in 95 degree heat. Wonderful and clean facilities," reports a tent camper who stayed overnight.

Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: At Woodson Bridge Mobile Home & RV Park, choose riverfront sites when possible. "If you go definitely pay the little extra for the river front very nice views," recommends a visitor.

Check hookup details: River Reflections RV Park provides full hookups but verify electrical service. "Sites are level 75 ft pull through sites. We will stay again. Lower numbered sites are closest to amenities," notes a reviewer at Rolling Hills Casino Truck Lot.

Dump station access: Rolling Hills Casino Truck Lot charges for dump station use. "Dump station: $10- only from 9am- 5 pm, although each site has sewer hookups," reports a camper, providing important information for RV sites near Paradise, California.

Consider overnight options along I-5: Several rv sites near Paradise offer convenient pull-through spaces for overnight travel. "Easy off and on freeway access, next to casino," notes a Rolling Hills visitor, while another Parkway RV Resort guest explains it's "a nice quiet spot for a stop over."
