    Mayflower Park

    Right on the River

A lovely county campground and picnic area on the Colorado. Dry sites are closest to the water. Super clear restrooms and showers. Dry sites have picnic tables, BBQ grills, but no fire pit. Lots of green grass. Large open grassy area with day picnic sites. RV sites are separated from dry sites. Friendly staff. Note: Close by (1/4 mile?) Hidden River RV Park has a convenience store. Also note: Hidden River is more of an ATV/motor boat/beer drinking environment. Not my thing.

    Hidden Beaches River Resort, Inc.

    Nice quiet place

Stayed for 2 nights. Quiet for a park this size. Lots of long term tenants. The wifi is awesome. Staff is friendly and helpful. Bathhouse is clean. Showers are lukewarm after the first 30 seconds, which is the only drawback other than the bathhouse and laundry are on the other side of the park from the short term area. I'd stay again. Closer to the Blythe Intaglio area. Lots of hiking there.

    Emerald Cove Resort

    Sites close together/need membership

It’s overall a decent place with lots of amenities and things for kids to do. Rv Sites were just too close together and it’s dirt and there was some trash. It’s great for those with boats and OHV’s. there is water and a beach to swim. You have to have a membership to stay or be invited as a guest. They do have full hookups and a dog beach so pets are welcome. Be prepared for lots of noise and activity because it’s a busy place. Be sure to say hi to the donkeys that wander throughout the grounds.

    Emerald Cove Resort

Poorly managed staff and unruly guests

I booked our first trip in our new rv to Emerald Cove for 4th of July. We were sent to the very last space far left at the edge of the campground. The furthest away from bathrooms, showers, store, snack bar, pool, beach, everything! The beachfront spaces were all occupied. But so was the walkways to the water! The spaces reserved as access for all campers to get to the water were filled with cars, tents, people, even though these were clearly marked as walk ways and no parking or any other was allowed. We couldn't even get to the water! Staff did not enforce fair access. Worse, the next camper close to us had a 4 seat razor. Since there was a few spaces between us that were vacant they decided to use the area as a raceway and drove their off road razor vehicle whipping around our camp kicking up dust, dirt and rocks that even flew into us hitting us. I first approached the other campers and asked them nicely to stop driving their OFV wicked fast around us that we were being struck by rocks. They didn't stop. I reached out to the staff who did nothing. We were so unsafe with the vehicle driving around us doing broadies, that we packed up and left within the first 24 hours. We had a 4 day reservation. I phoned the office to let them we had just left and why...they couldn't care less. We will never return here.

    Mayflower Park

    Good Experience

Stayed the week before Thanksgiving/ mild weather. Mid week so not crowded. Reserved ahead in campground near next to the river. There are day use picnic spots between the campsites and the river which was unique. Since there was only one other camper in that section and and day users it was no problem. On a crowded weekend it could get weird. The views of the river and the mountains in the distance were so nice. Staff was super friendly on the way in. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Campsite parking is on grass. Watch out for the little stumps/poles separating campsites. They blend in with the grass at certain times. Nice variety of birds. Only stayed one night, but good time.

    Emerald Cove Resort

    CRA Main campground

This is the main campground for CRA, Colorado River Adventures, membership campground. Well Over hundred gravel pull through sites. Think the only back in sites are the ones that back up to the Colorado River. There are two covered pools to hot tubs, a kids one foot deep splash pool. A bar with Cafe grilled with great food for breakfast, lunch and dinners. Kids clubhouse, playground, miniature golf. Nicely stocked Camp store. Boat launch ramp into ColoradoRiver. Full hookups. Down side was if your not in or on the Water it was hot. Was there last October for two nights and was very warm in hi 90's but this time was 115° to 120°

    Enjoyable

We had a lot of fun here! It was really hot so we’d only go back during winter time. It’s pretty baron but that’s exactly what we wanted. We work as Chefs so our schedules are insane. It’s nice to come here and forget about the world. It’s $6 per night.

What campers like

Quiet winter camping: The Blythe area transforms during cooler months. At Mayflower Park, one visitor shared, "Stayed the week before Thanksgiving/mild weather. Mid week so not crowded. Reserved ahead in campground near next to the river."

Affordable sites: Most campgrounds maintain reasonable rates compared to other riverside destinations. Corn Springs charges only $6 per night according to campers. Walter's Camp provides full hookup sites at competitive rates with riverfront access.

Convenience store access: Several campgrounds offer on-site supplies. At Hidden Beaches River Resort, "The general store comes in handy and sells liquor, beer and wine." This eliminates long drives for forgotten items.

What you should know

Summer heat warnings: Desert temperatures become extreme from June through September. One Corn Springs camper reported, "One night we slept there it was so dang hot at night that we slept out on the ground with our dog as opposed to inside the camper van."

Road conditions: Access varies between campgrounds. Walter's Camp requires driving "6 miles off the paved road. Roads were graded last week and pretty decent drive, although its posted that 4x4 is sometimes recommended."

Water quality concerns: Not all campgrounds provide potable water. A Walter's Camp reviewer cautioned, "There are water hose hookups, but I would not introduce this water into your RV. It is brownish and not well treated."

Yurt camping options: Yurt accommodations at Emerald Cove Resort provide solid alternatives for those without RVs. A visitor noted, "They have cottages you can rent if you don't have an RV or have extra people visiting with you." Corn Springs also offers yurt accommodations for desert camping.

Noise considerations: Some campgrounds become busy during peak seasons. At Emerald Cove, "Be prepared for lots of noise and activity because it's a busy place."

Wildlife awareness: Children should be supervised around local wildlife. One Emerald Cove camper mentioned, "Be sure to say hi to the donkeys that wander throughout the grounds," while adding to "block your area off with chairs so they don't poop on your stuff."

Activities for kids: Family-oriented campgrounds offer organized programs. Emerald Cove features "Miniature golf, arcade, poker room, darts, and overall an awesome site."

Spacing between sites: Expect variable site sizes and privacy. An Emerald Cove camper observed, "Sites were just too close together and it's dirt and there was some trash."

Power reliability: Check amperage options before booking. Many campgrounds offer only 30-amp service. A Hidden Beaches visitor mentioned, "They offer full hookups and beachfront. There are showers and laundry room."

Winter considerations: The Blythe area becomes a popular winter destination for snowbirds. Campgrounds fill quickly between November and March. A Mayflower Park reviewer noted, "The views of the river and the mountains in the distance were so nice."
