Denton Ferry RV Park & Cabin Rental

    Hot in summer

This is probably an excellent site in spring or fall. However summertime is hot at the site because of the lack of shade trees. Site 15 is by the water and has a large area for dogs or family. There is a staircase down to the water next to site 8. The fishing is good. It’s a pet friendly site however if your dogs bark neighbors will complain. The manager is friendly. They do not have trash pick up service; you just take your trash to a dumpster at the end of the camp, which is not a big deal. No grill available but has picnic tables and fire ring. WI-FI aid very good.

    Sylamore Creek Camp

    Great site!

We love this campground. We love having direct access to creek. It is kayak, family, pet friendly. The only thing it is lacking is internet connection, which for us is a plus for disconnecting. All sites are reasonably level. Site F is the premium and most secluded full hook up site. They have all levels of sites: primitive, water and electric, or full. Their small store has firewood and many other convenient items for sale. We take our own kayaks, but they do have rentals. They have public showers and restrooms, but the restrooms are currently closed due to renovations. It’s really one of our favorite local sites to camp.

Buffalo Point — Buffalo National River

    A must!

Buffalo national river is the first national river established in the US and let me tell you it's gorgeous!! There are many places to camp but we stayed at Buffalo Point. There are a few different loops to stay on, we stayed in A. Each site has parking, for car or RV all differing in length, and you walk behind the parking to an area with benches, picinic table, lantern hanger, and fire pit. The river is behind the sites and you can swim in it. I recommend swim shoes because its all rocks to get to it and entering in and out of the water. Behind A loop on the opposite side from the ramp before the curve in the river is a rope swing. Its across the river so you must be a strong swimmer to beat the current. The bathrooms are well kept and there is trash bins available. Pets are allowed too. The loop that we stayed in was first come first serve and there was a self pay station near the bathroom. If you are up early enough, you may see bald eagles flying around the river like we did!

    Great spot on Spring River

Large campground on Spring River with lots to offer. Cabins, Camper Cabins, RV sites with water & elec and tons of primitive sites. You can also take float trips down the river with this place. Camp store onsite, but only open during busy season. No pets allowed at this campground. This place is packed during warmer months. Make a reservation!

    Bull Shoals-White River State Park

    Fisherman’s Paradise on White River

I had heard that Bull Shoals- White River State Park was beautiful, but I didn’t fully understand until I saw it. All of the campsites face white river and there’s plenty of space between sites to allow for some level of privacy. All the campsites are flat with nice concrete pads. Each campsite has a fire ring, picnic table, and trash pole.

There is a newer section of the campground that is north of the marina. These campsites have newer asphalt and fire rings and have better access to the updated ADA bath houses. These bath houses are the single-quad bath houses where the toilet and shower are individualized into four quadrants. They are excellent for those campers that might not have travel trailers or self-contained units.

We were able to hike and fish most days. there is a playground and a basketball court that are functional and easy to access for families. The campground is mostly flat which makes it very easy to ride a bike. There were a lot of kids and adults riding bikes or scooters in the campground. There are also three trailers that have been converted into mobile homes near the marina for those campers that don’t have access to a pop-up or a camper for rent. They look very nice. The marina is also very nice and has a lot of simple supplies and merchandise.

When the dam is not releasing generators, you can wade out into the river from your campsite and fish; however, when they release the generators this is going to be very difficult. The only drawback is that you are inundated all day long with boat motors going up and down White River. It is very tranquil and peaceful in the mornings and evenings.

There are many different outfitters that do fishing trips. We chartered the afternoon with a local outfitter and had a great time. We caught a number of trout and were able to eat them for dinner on our last night. If you like to fish, enjoy camping, and enjoy doing both of those things, Bull-Shoals-White River state park is the place to go. I will definitely be going back!

    Twin Bridges Canoe Campground

    Early season, limited services

Tent camped here with a group of private boat paddlers from all over the country. Campground operations had not really started for the season. I arrived after dark and could not find the tent campsites. Nearly drove into deep mud on gravel road past RV sites. Fortunately had just enough cell signal to access their website. Found a campground map three layers deep on reservation page and located my group.

Tent sites were well-located along the river with basic tables and fire rings. I never found the store to be open so paid camping fee at bar and cafe at entrance. Great breakfast. $25/night for tents.  Grass had not been mowed and was deep in tent area. RV sites appear to be a work in progress with much erosion around the new pads and access road. What may have been a shower house had key code locks but there was never anyone to ask. Bathrooms near the entrance lacked tp in some stalls. All one afternoon and evening a group of kids with gas weed trimmers  noisely worked on a slope adjacent to the RV area.

This campground should improve over time a the management appears to be developing the grounds.

    Blue Heron Campground

    Some nice amenities, some lacking.

My wife and I camped here for four nights. Overall it was nice, but there were some things that I wish we knew. The location is great in the sense that it’s easy to get to and it’s laid out well. Unfortunately, it’s directly under an overpass and it is loud- loud enough that I used ear plugs at night.

It’s located on the White river and has a very nice gravel boat ramp, which is a big positive. It also has fishing access during low water.

The WiFi is excellent and the staff are super helpful and friendly.

The biggest plus for us is the bathrooms were among the best that we have found. They’re clean and fairly new.

There is plenty of property to walk and they were very pet friendly. It looks like many of the guests are long term residents.

Guide to Henderson

Cabin camping near Henderson, Arkansas provides convenient access to the White and Norfork Rivers. The confluence of these rivers creates prime fishing conditions, with clear, cold tailwaters from Bull Shoals and Norfork dams maintaining water temperatures around 55°F year-round. Summer temperatures in the region typically range from 80-95°F, while winter nights can drop below freezing.

What to do

Trout fishing adventures: The White River offers world-class trout fishing accessible from multiple cabin sites. At Blue Heron Campground, visitors enjoy easy river access. "Fishing is fantastic off bank on afternoon," notes one visitor who appreciated the combination of riverside access and comfortable accommodations.

Wildlife watching opportunities: The area offers exceptional wildlife viewing from cabin porches. According to a Buffalo Point camper, "Deer were everywhere and the Indian Rockhouse hike was really great. I will def be back in warmer weather to float the river which it was low for the winter." Many cabins provide direct views of eagles, deer, and various waterbirds.

Hiking nearby trails: Several cabin rentals provide access to hiking paths. "We did the Over Look trail and it was pretty well maintained. We also went to the Rush Ghost Town and did the short loop to check it out," reports a recent visitor who combined cabin accommodations with exploring the surrounding wilderness areas.

What campers like

Concrete pads and patios: Many campers appreciate the solid foundations at Lakeview - Bull Shoals Lake cabins. "Concrete pads and asphalt driveway. Good road around campsites. Pads are very level. Sites have a lot of space between them with many Oak shade trees. Covered picnic table. The table was newer aluminum and clean. Camping at it's best," notes one satisfied visitor.

River-view settings: Cabins with water views rank highest among guest preferences. "Step out of your rv and you will see some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere in the United States," writes one camper about their riverside cabin experience, highlighting the immediate access to scenic views.

Friendly management: Attentive staff enhances the cabin camping experience. At Misty Mornings Arkansas Cabins & RV Sites, "Hosts are very accommodating. I am the only camper here tonight. Very quiet. PJ'S restaurant was wonderful," reports a recent guest who valued the personalized attention.

What you should know

Weather impacts: Heavy rain can dramatically change river conditions. One Buffalo Point — Buffalo National River visitor observed, "The water was absolutely beautiful Thursday-Saturday, but the area got a lot of rain Saturday starting around 2 am...By 8 pm Saturday, the water at the beach area was completely brown and we could tell the water was up a LOT."

Cell service limitations: Digital connectivity varies significantly between cabin locations. "There is no service in the camp site at all," reports one Buffalo Point camper, noting the complete disconnect from cellular networks. Other properties maintain limited connectivity for emergency communications.

Seasonal closures: Several cabin properties operate on limited schedules. Buffalo Point cabins at Buffalo National River operate from March 15 through November 14, while other properties like Henderson Park maintain a May 1 to September 30 operating season.

Tips for camping with families

River safety precautions: Monitor water levels when bringing children to riverside cabins. A visitor notes, "We saw a park ranger on Sunday and asked about the water level and she said it had gone up 12 feet by Saturday night and Sunday morning it was 13 feet. We could see the level dropping throughout the day Sunday."

Kid-friendly swimming areas: Look for cabins with designated swimming access. At Jordan Campground, "Kids had a blast here! Cliff jumping, great fishing, kayaking, swim beach, and even pizza from the marina!" reports a family that enjoyed the diversity of water recreation options.

Noise considerations: Some locations experience varying noise levels. One camper shared, "There were a few campers who had barking dogs that they didn't seem to correct, so we slept with our fan on to drown out the noise," suggesting bringing white noise machines for light sleepers.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Some cabin and RV sites require significant leveling equipment. At Hand Cove Resort RV Park, one camper reported, "I had to use 6x6 blocks of wood from the caretaker's wood pile as a foundation to jack the front end of my class C motorhome up. The front wheels were 6 inches off the ground with the jacks fully extended and we barely made level!"

Water connections: Water hookup placement varies widely between sites. "The water hookup was quite a distance from the site and had to use three hoses to make it reach," notes a Lakeview camper who suggests bringing extra-long water hoses when staying at cabin sites with RV amenities.

Seasonal site availability: Water levels affect site usability throughout the year. "This is a wonderful small campground. Will not handle large rigs. Better suited to smaller trailers or tents. Right on the water so it is great if you have kayaks or similar. Arkansas is experiencing flooding at this time and we were fortunate that our site was not flooded," advises a Henderson Park visitor.
