    White Buffalo Resort

    Can't beat it!

It's such a beautiful place, right on the White River and the Buffalo River, just yards away. The best of both rivers. The resort is well maintained and the staff is friendly. There's a pool in the summer and a ping pong table. The bathrooms do not have air conditioning, but are clean.

    Dam - Quarry

    Clean campground, nice location

Average space between sites. Level paved sites with gravel picnic area including picnic table, fire ring, lantern hanger. Some sites had covered picnic area. Limited shade, most sites don’t have trees. Good access to sites. Clean and private bathrooms. Each room had its own lockable bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Garbage cans were outside of bathrooms, as well as dumpsters near the registration building. Friendly staff upon check in. Campground was patrolled regularly. No laundry or recycling. Nearby road with little road noise. Verizon cell signal was excellent. There is a dump station and potable fill station. No store or food for purchase on site. No hiking in campground, but multiple trails nearby. Boat ramp at campground and lots of wading fly fishing in river. Fish hatchery across from campground.

Beaver Creek Canoe Rental, Campground & Cabins

    best ive been to yet

The camp is directly off of the river.  For those how love to kayak, swim, fish, of just be in nature this is the place to be.  There are a few tent locations that are located away from the main area if you what to be away from it all.  There are cabins as well.  The camp offers a plethora of boat options to enjoy the river, and they also provide shuttle services for the 8 and 5 mile floats. If you love to hike, there are some amazing hiking trails with gorges views, water crossings, and even waterfalls.  They also have an amazing bathroom area complete with showers for after your day of adventure.  The cleanliness rivals most home bathrooms.  They also have a stocked store on site with nearly anything you would want or need.  The best part of this place are the owners.  They truly care for the campers/floaters.

    Ozarks Mountain Springs RV Park

    Wonderful campground!

If you’re traveling through southern Missouri and looking for a park to stay in, this is a great choice! Right off the interstate and easy to get in to. Site are graveled and level, and most are full hookups. The majority also have picnic table and fire pit. Plenty of potty spots for the babies scattered throughout the park and a 25 acre trail area. John, the owner, is a great guy! Friendly and welcoming, he keeps the park well maintained. Will definitely be using again!

    Sylamore Creek Camp

    Quiet little campground

For a small campground, this place has a lot to offer. Well stocked store, RV sites, tent sites, group sites, cabins, pavilion, and even a stage for events.

Quick access to the Syllamore Trail, the creek, and nearby mountain biking trails.

Denton Ferry RV Park & Cabin Rental

    Hot in summer

This is probably an excellent site in spring or fall. However summertime is hot at the site because of the lack of shade trees. Site 15 is by the water and has a large area for dogs or family. There is a staircase down to the water next to site 8. The fishing is good. It’s a pet friendly site however if your dogs bark neighbors will complain. The manager is friendly. They do not have trash pick up service; you just take your trash to a dumpster at the end of the camp, which is not a big deal. No grill available but has picnic tables and fire ring. WI-FI aid very good.

    Sylamore Creek Camp

    Disappointed

We have stayed here 2 times, once in a RV a couple years ago and had a nice experience. The second just this week. Since we stayed here last the prices have increased per night and it has come under new ownership. We stayed in the “wren” cabin. Which is over looking campsites below and sylamore creek. Not horrible, but honestly if I’m paying for water views I want to see the water not campers. Overall fairly clean, other than the debris pictured in the shower. No problem, sometimes mistakes happen. Could have even fell from the ceiling when the door closed or something after it was cleaned. My biggest issue, we were here for 3 nights. Typically I like to shower a couple times a day as does my wife when it is hot out. We had a total of 2 bath towels and 2 wash cloths upon arrival. Rather than new ones being brought daily, you are required to take the used ones to the camp store and exchange them yourself. I’m on vacation, I don’t personally feel it should be my responsibility to secure my own towels on MY time. I mean, I’m here for 3 days, give me 6 towels and wash cloths and count them when I leave if your that worried about towel theft. I’ve travelled half way around the world and never had this issue before. But if I’m paying $140 a night for a room worth about $90 (at best) I’d at least like enough towels to get me through my stay or maybe send someone by with new ones. One more thing, note the front door pic needs painted at a minimum, I mean, it’s not just one thing, it’s attention to detail and upkeep. The bathroom door also rubbed the floor and the floor was uneven overall. I get around pretty good, but I can see this being a trip hazard for someone elderly. Point being, I did not get a good value for the stay I purchased. I did confront the towel issue and the response was “we’ve always done it that way”. Doesn’t sound like it will change soon, which means I won’t be back and wouldn’t encourage anyone else to stay here either. On a positive, it’s not a bad location. I will also mention the bed, it wasn’t bad, but could have lived without the sandpaper sheets.

    Sylamore Creek Camp

    Great site!

We love this campground. We love having direct access to creek. It is kayak, family, pet friendly. The only thing it is lacking is internet connection, which for us is a plus for disconnecting. All sites are reasonably level. Site F is the premium and most secluded full hook up site. They have all levels of sites: primitive, water and electric, or full. Their small store has firewood and many other convenient items for sale. We take our own kayaks, but they do have rentals. They have public showers and restrooms, but the restrooms are currently closed due to renovations. It’s really one of our favorite local sites to camp.

Guide to Henderson

Camping options near Henderson, Arkansas center around Norfork Lake, a 22,000-acre reservoir with 550 miles of shoreline. Most campgrounds operate seasonally from May to October due to the area's mild climate, with summer temperatures averaging 85-90°F. Yurt accommodations at several parks provide alternatives to traditional camping with sturdy canvas structures that include basic amenities while maintaining proximity to the water.

What to do

Trout fishing: Dam-Quarry Park offers excellent access to cold-water fishing below Norfork Dam. "Great fishing and it's neat to watch the water rise from the dam," notes Jose M. The park sits adjacent to the fish hatchery, creating prime fishing conditions throughout the season.

Kayaking and boating: Robinson Point provides multiple water access points for paddlers. "We have camped here a couple times and planning to return again. Most sites are level with electric and water hookup however no sewer only a dump station," explains Joe J. The park's position on a peninsula creates protected coves ideal for beginning paddlers.

Swimming: White Buffalo Resort combines river and lake swimming options with additional amenities. "The resort is well maintained and the staff is friendly. There's a pool in the summer and a ping pong table," reports Cheryl C. The resort sits at the confluence of the White and Buffalo Rivers, providing different swimming environments.

What campers like

Waterfront sites: Bidwell Point Park features premium lake-edge camping positions. "Our first time here. It is beautiful! Quickly becoming one of our favorites. We are in site 13 right on the water!" writes Brent M., though he cautions, "if you are not proficient in backing your camper sites 10-13 are probably not the best choice."

Yurt accommodations: Henderson Park offers canvas yurt structures as alternatives to traditional camping. While lacking showers, the park compensates with location advantages. One camper notes, "Beautiful site right on beautiful lake. Short distance from town. Small park mature trees."

Clean facilities: Dam-Quarry Park maintains high standards for bathroom cleanliness. "Clean and private bathrooms. Each room had its own lockable bathroom with toilet, sink and shower," reports Renee H. The park also features "level paved sites with gravel picnic area including picnic table, fire ring, lantern hanger."

What you should know

Seasonal flooding: Robinson Point experiences periodic high water issues. "In the spring of 2020 many sites were under water from the spring rain," reports Joe J. Campers should check water levels when booking during rainy seasons, particularly in spring.

Limited amenities at some parks: Henderson Park lacks shower facilities but compensates with location. "This would be five stars except for lack of showers. Beautiful site right on beautiful lake. Short distance from town," explains one camper identified as N I.

Reservation requirements: Cranfield Park fills quickly during peak season. "Make sure to make reservations well in advance, as this campground is so popular that getting a site as a walk up is highly unlikely," advises Annie C. Most area campgrounds operate on reservation systems rather than first-come availability.

Tips for camping with families

Look for playgrounds: Dam-Quarry Park includes play areas for children. "Individual Private suite style bathrooms. Playground. No store, no firewood for sale. Level sites. Several sites have covers over the picnic tables," notes Shana D., highlighting features important for families.

Consider yurt camping: Jordan Campground offers yurt options that reduce setup time. "This is a great campground. Awesome views of the lake and great swimming off the rock outcrops. Water is so clear," reports Bill D., though he notes "the only downside is no showers."

Check swimming options: Look for designated swim areas at parks like White Buffalo Resort. "Kids had a blast here! Cliff jumping, great fishing, kayaking, swim beach, and even pizza from the marina!" exclaims Donna M. about Jordan Campground, which features multiple water activities.

Tips from RVers

Site backing challenges: Denton Ferry RV Park offers riverside sites but requires backing skills. "Site 15 is by the water and has a large area for dogs or family. There is a staircase down to the water next to site 8," notes Jaynee S., who adds the site "is probably an excellent site in spring or fall. However summertime is hot at the site because of the lack of shade trees."

Limited hookups: Most area campgrounds offer electric and water but lack sewer connections. "Average space between sites. Level paved sites with gravel picnic area including picnic table, fire ring, lantern hanger," reports Renee H. about Dam-Quarry Park, a typical configuration in the area.

Seasonal availability: Many campgrounds around Henderson, including yurt camping options, operate only from May through September. Robinson Point's season runs "May 1 to October 31" according to official information, with similar timeframes at other area parks.
