Best Campgrounds near Helena-West Helena, AR

Campgrounds near Helena-West Helena, Arkansas feature a mix of primitive and developed sites along rivers, lakes, and forested areas. Mississippi River State Park serves as a primary destination with several distinct camping areas including Beech Point, Lone Pine, and Storm Creek Lake campgrounds. Sites accommodate both tent and RV camping with varying levels of amenities. Bear Creek Lake Recreation Area provides full hookup sites with water views, while Delta Heritage Trail State Park offers primitive tent sites in a more secluded setting. Pat Kelley RV Park in West Helena provides basic full hookup concrete pads primarily serving RVers.

Most campgrounds in the region require advance reservations during peak seasons, particularly for sites with water access. Storm Creek Lake Campground operates primarily from April through September, while many sites at Mississippi River State Park remain open year-round. The region experiences hot, humid summers with mosquitoes commonly mentioned in reviews. Campers should be prepared for varying levels of amenities and accessibility. Vault toilets are standard at primitive sites, while developed campgrounds offer shower facilities and electric hookups. "We saw 11 turkeys on the way. Wildlife and the beauty of nature is incomparable. We had no idea that this part of the state was so beautiful," noted a camper about the drive to Storm Creek Lake.

Waterfront camping represents a significant draw throughout the region's campgrounds. Several visitors highlighted lakeside sites as standout features. "Our site came with a bench to view the lake and tent pad is in the perfect spot. It was peaceful and provided the perfect place to recharge our batteries," wrote one camper about Beech Point. The campgrounds vary in size, with Beech Point offering just 14 full-hookup sites that frequently book well in advance. Some primitive campgrounds like Lone Pine provide more solitude with larger sites along the water but fewer amenities. Campers report that Beech Point and Bear Creek Lake Recreation Area consistently receive high ratings for cleanliness, lake views, and well-maintained facilities, making them popular choices despite their limited number of sites.

    Village Creek State Park Campground

    Quiet and Relaxing

This place is very beautiful and DEEP into to woods. The sites are very spread out with privacy though and we loved that!

We arrived after hours and our site had a pamphlet with our name and some basic information for our stay.

In the morning, the spot was very beautiful and tucked away in the woods with visibility to the lake down the hill.

It rained briefly and our spot was down a slight hill so there was a bit of concern with puddling, but there was proper drainage and the site didn’t puddle as much as we would’ve thought! The site was very leveled!

We lost service about 5/10 minutes out from the park with Verizon so if there are things you need to search before do that!

When we left we stopped by the visitor center that had a pretty wide range of things to do with a gift store. The staff and rangers were very nice!

    We would visit again!

    Delta Ridge RV Park

    Perfect for a single overnight

Small, tight campground that has no amenities at all, but is priced accordingly. This campground has full hookups at every site, the sites are tight enough together that opposing slides wouldn’t fit, there are no bathrooms, laundry facilities, etc. It is conveniently located very close to I40 and is minutes from shopping and restaurants.

Added bonus……the WiFi is rock solid. I didn’t bother using my Starlink as I was able to stream from the campgrounds wifi.

    Village Creek State Park Campground

    Really nice, quiet CG

We have a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and stayed in site 50 for 1 night in mid September. The CG is clean, well maintained. The CG roads are paved, as are the sites. The sites themselves all seemed pretty level. The CG was very quiet and peaceful and about half full while we were there. Our site, 50, was a pull-through, as were several, but most were back in. There is some shade depending on the site. The bathhouses are showing their age a bit.

AT&T coverage was basically nonexistent with 1 bar of 5GE service but 0 MB/s of throughput. We had a clear view to the N at the site, so Starlink was fine with speeds up to 13 MB/s.

    Village Creek State Park Campground

    Good rest for weary travelers!

Arrived after hours to Campsite area A (sites 1-41). Note: reservation app does was not allow same day reservations, so find "available" site and pay at kiosk at visitor center. Hard to see park at night but in the morning found clean restrooms and shower --a happy find. Park offers nice large sites for tent and RVs with power, water, picnic table & fire rings. Really nice campgrounds with golf and equestrian facilities near by.

    Mississippi River State Park Campground

    Beautiful and quiet

This small campground is beautiful and kept very clean. Sites are full hookup. The bath house is very clean. There are four private toilet/shower rooms. All handicapped accessible. My favorite sites are 12, 13, and 14. My least favorite were 9, 10, and 11, but they are pull through sites.

    Dagmar Wildlife Management Area Campsites

    Awesome and Free!!

You definitely could hear the interstate but was still very secluded, clean, a little swampy (only in the water), but I place for us to stay the night. Bug spray was needed, but what do you expect it's the woods. I'm pretty sure Bigfoot might hang out, lol.
