    Falling Waters State Park Campground

    Falling Waters & Quietness

Camp sites have been renovated, all new gravel with railroad ties for retaining wall for the gravel.  Sites are all 50/30 amp with water.  Most of the sites are under shade.  It is a small campground with only 20 spots and some are tight if you have a big rig, but there are pull throughs for the big rigs.

    Staff was friendly and helpful.

Shower facilities were clean - at least mens.

I'd give it a 5 start but the dump station does not have the hose hookups for flushing your tanks, just draining.  So be sure to fill up your gray tank to wash down he black excretions.

I'll return because it was enjoyable area.

COE Walter F George Lake White Oak Creek Campground

    Beautiful campground with great sites

Stayed December 2019 for a long weekend. The sites are all very nice with fire ring, lantern pole, picnic table, small counter height table, and concrete pad for your camper or tents. Ample additional parking available. Bathrooms were well maintained. We stayed in the Oakwood loop. River Chase loop has the best playground. Staff were very friendly. Several dump stations as well as a dog park. Would like some more hiking trails.

    Three Rivers State Park Campground

    A Great Florida State Park

Small, well maintained park and sites, with 30/50 amp and water hook ups. A pleasant surprise when we arrived, after miles of rural driving! GPS took us the correct way, but seemed we were lost! Staff greeted us at entrance, gave us a map and explained how to get to our site. It was raining, and our site was back-in and downhill, mostly level with gravel, a picnic table, has a fire-ring with grill grate. Bathhouse is clean and impressed how the trash area and dump station were placed away from campers. The dock/pier, and boat ramp, are at the back part of the campground, The amenities are nice and there is outdoor cleaning sink behind the bathhouse, sitting area overlooking the river, the fish cleaning station, fire pit area, trails, and canoe/kayak drying area. 3 concrete sites, as well as tent sites. Lots of spacing between most of the sites, some are waterfront. Wildlife is plentiful and the trails are a great way to enjoy it all! We will come back! And it’s only $20 a night!

    Lakepoint Resort State Park Campground

    Great stay in winter

We stayed at this campground in a pull through site in February on our cross-country adventure. Plenty of room for big rigs. Easy to navigate roads. Safe for kids to ride around on bikes for hours. Site are big and the one we were at backed up on woods. Great view of the lake and sunset.  Lots of beautiful space to explore in the park, even in the chilly weather. Will definitely have to come back in the Spring!

    Falling Waters State Park Campground

    Tallest waterfall in florida.

Not a very big state park but it was very quiet and relaxing. Only about 20 sites total with a very nice restrooms and showers. There was also a spot to wash dishes. Alot of trees so plenty of shade. There are pull through and back in sites. Tent camping all the way up to class A. Water and electric but no sewer at site. There is a dump station. The falls and the lake were nice but depend on rainfall. We have been in a little drought so it was a trickle. There are fish in the lake but do not like to be caught. Swimming area at the lake as well. Some trails but not a bunch. Would definitely come back.

    Florida Caverns RV Resort

    Nice Stay

We stayed here for two nights/three days of a ten day trip. It was hands-down the nicest of the locations. Clean, concrete pads, excellent location and good wi-fi that was not up-charged. The pool area was nice and clean. Service and staff were excellent/friendly and they escorted us to our site upon arrival. They also have trash pickup at your site daily. We saw a security truck drive through several times and had no problems from our neighbors. The location near the water cannot be beat. We were located near the docks and I was able to launch my paddle board easily. The water was gorgeous and clear on the adjacent spring/pond. Our AT&T cell service was good.

My only(very minor) complaints are that there are very few trees or shaded areas at this location and it would have been nice to have the fire pits included at the site. We did not spend any time sitting outside our camper and we only did about ten minutes in the dog park because of the sun, but then again, it's Florida in July in an area that's still recovering from tornadoes and a major hurricane. And by the time we thought it had cooled off enough to enjoy s'mores in the evening, the office had long since closed so we couldn't rent a fire pit. We have family that we visit often in the area, so we will definitely stay here again! We camped at Florida Caverns RV Resort at Merritt's Mill Pond in a Travel Trailer.

Local attractions: The National Peanut Festival occurs annually in nearby Dothan. "Stayed for 2 nights during the Peanut Festival. Not a lot of amenities, but full hookup," mentions one A-Okay RV Park camper. Half a dozen trail heads exist in the Dothan area for hiking enthusiasts.

What campers like

Quiet location: Many RV parks in the region are set back from major highways. "Its also a mile off the hwy so it's so quiet. We will make this our go to traveling through ozark/Dothan Alabama," writes one Kelly Creek RV Park visitor.

Convenient amenities: Travelers appreciate close proximity to shopping and services. "Walmart is less than a mile with plenty of dining options within a minute or two," notes one guest at Dothan RV Park. Another camper mentioned, "Dollar General is next door but they are out of ice."

Clean facilities: Campgrounds maintain well-kept bathrooms and laundry areas. "The bath house also has a laundry room," states one camper at Military Park Fort Rucker Recreation Area. A Rosemont RV Park guest mentioned, "The facility was very clean."

What you should know

Satellite reception challenges: Trees can interfere with connectivity at some locations. "Because of the vast amount of trees we were unable to use the satellite and WiFi was not available," explains a reviewer at Military Park Fort Rucker Recreation Area Engineer Beach RV Park.

Highway noise considerations: Some campgrounds are situated near Interstate highways. "While we weren't really here for camping - we were just passing through, we did take some time to visit nearby Ashford Recreational Park and went for a jog before cracking on for 10 more hours," shares a camper from Shallow Creek RV Park.

Reservation practices: Policies vary between campgrounds. "We had called the day prior to see if they had a Harvest Host spot available and were told yes and the owner explained how it worked. We were asked to call about an hour out," notes one Rosemont RV Park visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Some parks offer recreation areas for children. Military Park Fort Rucker Recreation Area provides "a small park with a swing set, teeter totter, and basketball hoop," according to a visitor.

Animal encounters: Several campgrounds have farm animals that children enjoy. "The property has a couple of lakes where you can fish and some friendly goats and chickens, which added a fun, relaxing vibe," reports a camper at Hitchinpost RV Park and Campground.

Pet-friendly spaces: Many parks accommodate four-legged family members. "They also had a small fenced dog area, but the CG has fields on two sides so we took our two pups there to run," mentions one Rosemont RV Park visitor.

Tips from RVers

Propane availability: Check which parks offer on-site propane service. "Be sure to top off your propane. The lowest price I've seen for FULL tanks," advises a camper at A-Okay RV Park.

Site dimensions: RV parks accommodate various vehicle sizes. "Sites are very big and there was lots of space," notes a Kelly Creek RV Park visitor, while another mentions "most sites are 75 ft pull through gravel and grass."

Level sites: Concrete pads make setup easier at some locations. "All sites have been upgraded to level concrete with full hookups," explains a Dothan RV Park visitor. Another mentions, "Our site was fairly level and the utilities were to the rear."
