Stayed at Equestrian Campground

Very happy at this campground. But many campers are here. I think they are at the main campground. But regular RV campers are allowed at the Equestrian center. We are close to the farm/petting zoo. Also the horses are next to the campground. Very quiet and reasonably priced.

  • the farm next to equestrian campground within walking distance
  • goat relaxing at the farm
  • you can feed the animals for a minimal price

Great lakeside beach

Although we didn’t get a chance to stay the night here on the most recent visit we had an incredible time exploring the lake and beach areas. We also had a chance to wander around the camping area and check out what is available. The lake itself is not enormous but perfect for those who prefer a…

Equestrian Campground

We stayed at the equestrian campground at Oak Mountain. It was very nice and quiet. Once you go through the gate take your first left and keep driving. We only stayed 2 nights and didn't get to see everything they have at the park. We want to go back!

Super clean!

Our first time to camp here; first impression was how clean the sites are. Warm showers and flush toilets. Our site is overlooking the water, each site has water and electric. $28 for RV sites and $20 for tent sites. Very spacious. About a 15 min drive to Tuscaloosa. No firewood or camp store, so…

Great Times

Great time at Gunter Hill

Gunter Hill Corps of Engineers Campground We stayed 2 nights at Site 27 Full hookups (50 amp electric/water/sewer) $35/night Site #27. is a very long, back-in site, on a level concrete pad, very shady and secluded. The driveway is very long. The Catoma Creek is…

Nice lake, great mountain bike/hiking trails

We stayed at a great waterfront site, which was amazing, and had full hookups. (Although it did get full sun in the afternoons, which was warm) Some of the other sites are W/E only and some are not as great.  The park buildings and docks are a bit dated, but the staff was very nice.  The lake is…

Not what we hoped for

We stayed in the Antioch loop on site 93. The site was super close to 92 and 94. We felt we had no personal space. A couple kept walking through our campsite to get to a boat they had parked at our site. I love rustic but Antioch was not rustic, it was over grown and did not look maintained. We…

Family Fun!

We took our kids for the first time and it was a great trip! I’ve always lived Oak Mountain so I for sure go back as often as I can. We stayed on 42B which was an AMAZING site. My favorite one so far. There was a lot of traffic just because that was the way to get to the campground beach, but it…

Beautiful park and very well kept. If you can’t find something to do here you aren’t looking. Mountain Biking, road biking and very well payed out lanes. Tents, cabins, pull thoughts for classA’s. Just a beautiful park!!

Friendly Folk

More of a community than a passersby campground. We arrived late at night, but the manger on site was more than happy to accommodate us. Tent camping available a short hike away across a creek.

Tight sites

We loved the history and beauty of THSP. Everyone was so friendly, but we felt like we were on top of the people beside us.

Great Respite

Third time staying at Oak Mountain and it was great. Stayed in B37. A20-27 are better but our trip was short notice. Decent size and pretty quiet. Bathrooms could use some updating but still pretty clean. Great hiking trails and lots of stuff to do!

Add this place to your list!

What an amazing campground! Alabama knocked this one out of the park. From the first time you enter the park, which isn’t too far from BHam or the interstate, you’re transported to a different place where things move much more slowly just the way we like it. The campground is a 5 mile ride from the…
