Kerrville-Schreiner Park

This is a wonderful park and campground! Hiking and biking trails galore. Deer were everywhere. It's along the Guadalupe River which still bears flood scars from last summer. Very few people this time of year.

Large city-run park that straddles hwy. This site had water, 30 amp service, no sewer but dump near by the restrooms. Restrooms were run down, but clean enough, very hot shower water. LOTS of trees, birds, sites mostly level. Quiet. As noted, by other review, it is large and you'll need to take a map with you if you leave and return at night. There is a gate code to get back in, after hours. Some reviews noted a lot of road noise from hwy, but we were not anywhere near hwy, so NO noise. However, the south side of park is directly below airport approach and landing and pvt. jets and general aviation aircraft could be noisy and quite low over campground.

Took the family and had a blast. Fishing, hiking, and geocaching was great. We will be back

Stayed on the 'hill side' and really enjoyed the park. Most sites you pull in paralllel to the road which is nice. Had deer through our site every day. Really good hiking but some of the trails were closed due to race events. Close to town and not too far of a drive to Fredericksburg and went to the Nat'l Pacific War Museum and that was well worth the drive. Here in October so park was about 1/8 full if even that.

The tent sites are huge and spread apart. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Flush toilets and showers. A highway run through the camp so there is some noise from that, mainly during the day. Town is 2 miles away.

Great park near the Guadalupe River, amenities were as nice or better than most TX State Parks. Great trail along the River can be accessed from park.

2 different entrances - you must check in at the big station and get a gate code to get to your 30 amp site, water and electric only. Grab the map, you will definitely need it. There are almost no signs to direct you. The map is badly done, but it's al you will have. Do not arrive after dark, or you will never find your site. There is no one around to ask if you do go astray, so be prepared to turn around, and watch for 1 weathered gray wooden sign about 18 inches above the grass, letters carved into the wood in matching gray weathered letters and numbers. The site is gravel pull thru with some shade. 30 amp and a faucet. Fire ring/grill unused due to burn ban. Concrete picnic table, and on site occupied armadillo nest hole under on of the oaks. Dumpster down the road about 50 yards, trailhead for teal hiking trail the other direction about 50 yards.

Stacy was wonderful to work with and we really enjoyed our stay. Large wide RV spaces with full hookups with great views of the river. This park also offers cabins as well as vintage trailers for your stay. There is a lovely walking/biking trail that also has picnic tables and BBQ grills.

We have stayed here many times. The park is separated into two sections by a busy road. The office and the River section of the park is on one side. The other side has a lot of great hiking/biking trails. They only have 10 50Amp sites, in Sycamore loop. All other sites are 30Amp. Most RV sites have Sewer, but there are a few that don’t, so watch closely as booking. We prefer the hill side of the park, Deerfield loop to be exact. It is further away from the road and you feel like you are in the country.

Pulled into our site a little before dinner time. All sites seem to be pull through, so that’s nice but if you get an even number site in the pecan loop be aware of the proximity to a bust county road with a lot of road noise.

The pecan loop has the most shade, important in Texas in the summer.

Electrical box is old, rusting and the breakers are loose with wires visible. Use your surge protector here - well, always use a surge protector but especially here.

Water pressure is low so be prettier that too.

This former state park now owned by the city is a great hidden gem on the Guadalupe. It’s also about an hour away from many other state parks you can make as a day trip. Most site have full hookups and the sites are very spacious.

They have many pull through sites with full hook-ups that are spacious and fairly spaced out. The park has river front, nice access to multiple trails including the paved river trail, and a big playground. Be careful where you book your site though, we selected one on a loop north of the road and it was so close to the road that the noise made it hard to hear each other when outside and the early morning traffic was not pleasant to wake up to.

Stayed here for a week in February. People were very friendly and helpful. Clean and quiet. Will definitely go back to this place

This park use to be a State Park, so you have the nice big sites and lots of hiking trails. The park is split up into two sides, with a Hwy that runs between them. The riverside of the park has a fishing dock and a beach area for swimming. They also rent kayaks and paddle boards. They also have a playground, Sand Volleyball area and a Butterfly garden. The RV sites do not have a river view, and the play ground and Volleyball is a pretty good walk. They do have mini cabins that are available right on the river with nice stairs down to the water.

This park was close to a local event we wanted to attend, and we were very happy with it and will definitely go back. The first row is all pull through sites with full hookups, although we do have a shorter trailer (24’) and I’m not sure how much luck you would have with a truly big one. Most sites had a stone or wood picnic table, shady trees, and a fire ring. We saw a deer, squirrels, and even a herd of blackbuck antelope. Our particular site was number 121 and it had a feral cat shelter, which we saw several of the cats and one caretaker stop by. There are hiking trails and the park itself is minutes from many nearby attractions. My husband checked out the camp bathrooms for me for this review and he said they were smaller but clean and acceptable.

Overall a comfortable little park, sites not overcrowded together, and reasonably priced. Good job Kerrville.

We’ve camped at this park for years and love it! It is a former state park and now so we’ll maintained. Lots of wildlife and Guadalupe River access for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Wifi also works well and a great base camp for exploring the Texas hill country.

We had perfect weather for 3 days. All the amenities you'd want. Right on the Guadalupe River so I could kayak easily. Very well kept and clean. Cabins for rent too.

Simple and sufficient

I was pleasantly surprised to find tent sites available within 3 days of my visit (October 23-25, 2020). We stayed at one of their tent sites (#66) and pitched 2 tents for two families. Site had a hose bib, fire ring, and a new wooden picnic bench. Plenty of trees and other cover located at the site. Our site was across the street from the restroom/showers. The restroom and showers were older but kept clean. The trails at this park offer easy paths for families to enjoy along with mountain bikers. The camp host Lita was very nice and was available to purchase bundles of fire wood for $5 if needed. Overall, I was very pleased with this city park. The reasons for not giving it a full five stars is the outdated restrooms, an occasional Cessna flying over about 2-3 times a day, and the (what seemed frequent) emergency vehicles blaring their sirens. Note: although we only saw one armadillo, there was evidence of other wildlife in the park.

Kerrville park has great in town trails. Guadalupe River access& nice warm showers in the restrooms.

I camped on the hill side in the Fox Run Loop. The campsites were pretty well spaced apart, but a lantern from from an adjacent campsite was able to shine into ours late at night. 

Overall, the sites are well maintained, and the bathrooms are very clean and well kept. It's near the Guadalupe river as well as other Hill Country attractions which makes this a good location. 

Remember to check in at the Ranger station over on the river side because you will need a gate code to access the hill side of the park.

I stayed 3 days here Tent camping nice and quite in the back area lot # 62 fawn hideaway

We tent camped here circa spring break 2012. We arrived around midnight and I think the host welcomed us. Regardless we got a good site on the east side of the highway and easily set up the tent with the car lights. We enjoyed the park hiking the forest on the west side. I braved the cold water of the river, swimming across and back with onlookers and my wife admiring my courage (or foolishness) from the bank. I laid on the rocks in the sun to dry off and warm up. We tested a Methodist church in our dirty camping clothes and received a warm welcome.

We were I. Town visiting family and stayed on the river side - sit 201. Didn’t get a chance to explore the other side. It was quiet aside from Bandera Rd. noice. It is noticeable, though it didn’t bother us for the short time we were there. Camp sites are spread out but not very private. We chose this side to be near the river. Good fishing spots. The swim/floating area is a bit deep in parts. I wouldn’t want to take little kids swimming there without a life jacket. Definitely bring some tubes (or you can rent). On a Tuesday afternoon the swimming area was very quiet and it was easy to stay distanced from others. I wouldn’t say this is a destination park but it’s perfectly fine place for home base if you’re visiting the area. And it has some nice bonuses for the price: pull through sites and campsite sewage. Also, cabin 6 had two unique features: rope swing and waterside stone picnic table tucked away.

I’m not sure what part we stayed in but I know it was very windy and cold but we were there in March and it was the only place to camp... We had a place to lay our head take a shower and cook dinner so it worked. It was very windy so we had to use the picnic tables to block our tent which worked out well.

Park is city run and split into two sections by a highway. Beautiful butterfly and nature garden, kid playground, camping and river access on one side. The other has hiking and biking trails along with camping. Multiple cabins and group camping areas on both sides.

Nice and clean place very relaxing and quiet there. Close to town and on the River. Great location
