    Green River Lakes Campground

Very nice but hard to get to

It took me about 90 minutes once I hit the unpaved portion of the road. Very rough. Averaged about 5 to 10 mph. I have a 4x4 van. I did see a Subaru coming the other way. Would not want to travel this road if it was wet and muddy.

However, the campground and surrounding area are beautiful. Lots of hiking nearby around the lake and into the Winds. The sites are fairly private and spread out. The clean vault toilets are like little log cabins. There was only a handful of sites occupied while I was there in mid-October.

    Amazing wild flowers !

This remote cabin can be rented for $30 night if not in use by the forest service staff. This is a popular destination for snowmobiling in the winter month and fly fishing in the summer. I visited in July and the wild flowers were incredible in LaBarge Meadows. This is near the Tri-Basin drainage. The trail head for the Lander Cut-Off Trail is right at the cabin. There is an outhouse, picnic table in the yard and a fire ring. There is a stream right along the cabin and there is writer plumbing in the summer months.
There is a doorknob lock that you enter a code into to access the cabin that is provided upon your reservation. Call 307-877-4415 to make your reservation!

White Pine Wyoming, Ski and Summer Resort

    Summer use also!

This ski area has developed summer camping options. There is a camping area with several tent cabins, teepees, and 6 RV spots. Also a general tent camping area. Shower house is available to campers or $5 fee if just buying a shower. The 6 RV spots are very tight together and have zero shade (hence the three stars). RV spots with water and electric are $30, $20 no hookups. Tent cabins and teepees $30, bring your own tent $12. There are hiking and Mt biking trails for summer use. However, Fremont CG and Trails End CG are only $12/$6 senior per nite for "dry" RV camping and that is likely why the camping area at white pine was completely empty on a week in July. Too bad as it is a small local operation...but the close proximity to FS CGs is too much.

    Affordable

Crew has worked hard on improvements. Decided to stay for a while. WiFi is good, better than anyplace I’ve ever been. Great restaurant “The Den”! Gas is cheaper than in Pinedale. Propane on site. Convenience store...beer, liquor, deli. The only drawback is the wind gusts (so watch your awning)but that’s Wyoming! Beautiful sunsets, view of mountains!

    Dubois-Wind River KOA

    Unique area

Dubois/Wind River KOA, Dubois , Wyoming

Dubois , Wyoming is another town on the old west trail. I only stayed overnight after Grand Teton NP but would have stayed longer had my schedule allowed to explore more. It is a little touristy but there is history there if you search it out.

The KOA was a smaller one, back behind a gas station which was convenient. There are cool TP’s that you can rent and the cabins site along the Wind River which makes for some nice scenery when you are chilling at the campground. Don’t look to hard though, across the river is a neighborhood. The road in was a little rough and the gravel needed some maintenance, otherwise it was a well maintained parking lot like so many of the KOA’s are now. The playground equipment looked archaic! I did not use any of the facilities so I have no information on them and there was no dog park. I arrived after close, found my paperwork on the lite kiosk and I left out in the morning before the office opened. For the price I expect more but it seems like the area dictates the quality of the KOA.

    Heads up

The website is very modern and the camp looks awesome. Reality… gas station RV park. It does has a grill/bar but expectations vs reality is disappointing. Young staff member didn’t seem to be too enthused to help me check in and wasn’t sure that someone wasn’t still in my spot. I asked for a paper with a map and WiFi password on it… nope! However the sight watching the storm pass by was pretty awesome.

The park is a gravel parking lot. Electric and water hook ups look new. Staff was unfriendly and not helpful if you wish to get answers to any questions. Also didn’t give wi-fi code. Dinner at The Den restaurant was scrumptious and tasty burritos. Good for passing through but not a destination stop.

    Beautiful

This was one of our best camping trips of the summer! So many activities! You can swim, paddle board, hike, run, flit down the river, and just relax around the beautiful lake!

We pulled our camper down the long dirt road. We just took our time (1 hr on the dirt road). The drive was well worth it! We can’t wait to go back next year and stay longer! This year we spent 2 nights in late August.

This may be the best spot in WY!

    did not disappoint

The very long gravel road to get here is terrible but 100% worth it! Doable in a 2WD but recommend 4WD. The campsites are semi private and there is lots so dont be worried! The surroundings are beautiful and the lake is a short walk which is nothing less of stunning. Would definitely revisit.

    Green River Lakes Campground

    Lovely

Dirt road to get to, but easily managed. A car could go down (very slowly in some spots). Boondocking camping sites all along the river coming up to this spot. They fill up on the weekend pretty fast during peak season. Sites at the official campsite are close together, but have trees in between. You can see your neighbors if that matters to anyone. But it was very quiet while we were there. We were out of a tent, but saw small RVs there too. I’m not sure if there were power hook ups. The surrounding area is stunning. If you go hiking, go out on the Highline trail, and come back on Lakeside trail, that will be the best for views. Start just 30mins after sunrise for beautiful light for photos. I record sound for a living and I loved this place because of how devoid of human noise it is when you get past the two lakes on the trail. Pure nature sounds, aside from the occasional commercial plane. It was so dead quiet, I had to really crank my gain while recording natural ambiences.

    Green River Lakes Campground

Beautiful area but the campground needs work

The 18 mile drive is bouncy and a bit rough in places but most people should not have a problem. The views are absolutely amazing, second to none! It’s hard to find a more picturesque place to be. I only rated a four because only one of the pit toilets was open, the one by us was locked up. The one that was open was not well taken care of and smelled bad. Overall though, yes this is a must do!!

    A great place to land!

WE spent 4 nights here backed up to the river.  Not many people yet (late May).  the facilities were clean.  Restrooms and showers are perfect.  Many trees taht were just getting their leaves.  Would definately stay here again!

We drove to Teton National Park, which is about an hour away and Yellowstone is about 1 1/2 hours away.  If you really want to spend time at Yellowstone, you need to camp in the park.  The driving distance is too far.

    disappointed

So I used to like this place in the last years but now I started to have second thoughts I don't know if I was unlucky this year, but I was surprised to have some disappointments here. One of the things was find a single RV site accommodating one RV, 3 cars, tent and multiple families. I understand if a single family brings one or two extra adult to stay in the RV with a couple of kids plus an UTV but overpopulating with an RV, multiple large cars, more than one single family and children(lots of) also building tent that's for me was a little disappointing. Another thing I was worry, even with that amount of people, there was a moment I went out and I saw they left the fire burning and unassisted. My list of concerns didn't stop here, I noticed some vehicles would not respect the speed limit of the campsite(in a place with kids! What is happening with this world!). In addition, because the kids were be walking around, they stressed out my dog which barked and I was the one reported! In respect to the facility I stayed inside of the RV with my dog(not the the way I had planned to spend my vacation and I did lots of rv travel, this was the first time I got reported for my dog!). On the other hand there were a day some kids were playing with some toy gun(not sure what kind, pellet, bb gun, whatever) that even our friend(yes we travel in group, everyone with their own rv site) who was few sites on the left of us that heard the shots of the toy gun. I just hopefully it wasn't a pellet/bb gun because we have people, pets and other kids around here. And there was the dog poop! This year it seems we got some bad dog owner, for the first time we encounter dog poop in some areas we used to walk.(again, what is happening with this world!!!) About the overpopulated RV site, I asked about the reception if they don't have restriction about the limit of people and cars, families, tents to receive on a rv site they pretty much I was told there is no restriction. So if you want to bring multiple families in several vehicles plus RV, built tents around the rv to accommodate everybody and all cramped in a single RV site to save money, this is the place to come. Another episode that startled me. The day we arrived, we started to unpack and I was laying on the ground the panels of the dog playpen on the grass near to the behind of the rv to assemble and suddenly a cart/utv comes driving over the grass toward to the panel I had just laid down on the grass. I signed the driver to watch for the panel and instead of stopping or slowing down he just drove over and neither stopped to apologize or check if he caused any damage, he just drove away. Either this drive was an employee or another bad customer that thought it was ok to drive over the grass area between the sites and the river. I never saw this happen in the past years I came here. This year unfortunately I didn't have much of a good experience here. Usually I don't write reviews but I want to make sure people that has certain expectation for their camping vacation like I do be aware of what they may experience here.

Stayed here the night before heading into the Tetons. Good clean all services were as expected. Not the cheapest place and a little bigger then I would like, but great to prepare for a couple of nights dry camping.

    Poorly marked sites

We arrived past dark. Poorly lit and could not determine the sites so we opted for dispersed area which was also difficult to navigate. Website was attractive. No management on site. Left payment in drop box. Large campground map at entrance wasn’t drawn according to actual view from the map so it was not helpful. One bathroom on private property inside attached building. Weird but there was hot water. Potable water turned off for season. In daylight, pretty stream & bluff nearby. Quiet campground.

    Dubois-Wind River KOA

    Good night along the way

We stayed one night at this KOA on our way to the Grand Tetons National Park from Wind Cave National Park. It was a nice campground and we enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly and had our site ready for us upon arrival.

This campground is what we tend to expect from staying at a KOA. We had a pull-thru site that was in the trees and relatively level gravel site. When ever possible we enjoy sites in the tress. We were in a shorter pull-thru site but with our extended cab truck and our 25' trailer, we pretty much maxed out the length of the site but were able to stay hooked up. The hookups worked well but the water connection was very low to the ground which required us to change up our normal fresh water setup, but everything worked out well with a little modifications on our end.

On most of our one night stays we have a tendency to stick in-side of our tailer, have dinner, and go to bed. This night we ended up sitting out side with our portable fire pit and listening to the river near by.

If we were ever traveling through this area again we would stay here again.
