Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Jeffrey City, WY

Wild Iris OK Corral provides dispersed camping sites near Lander, Wyoming where pets are welcome. This free camping area features primitive sites with established fire rings and bear boxes for food storage. Several campsites are fairly large with enough space for larger RVs, including 39-foot fifth wheels. Visitors with pets should note that wildlife is present in the area, including bears, requiring vigilance with food storage and pet management. The campground offers basic amenities including pit toilets at the parking area but no drinking water, hookups, or showers. The road leading to the campground is severely rutted and can be challenging for 2WD vehicles, though still accessible.

Twin Pines RV Park and Campground in Lander accommodates pets with full hookup sites for both tent and RV camping, plus cabin options. The campground features level sites on a gravel surface, though they are positioned close together. Campground facilities include showers, flush toilets, a playground, and laundry services. Cell service varies throughout the area, with Wild Iris having inconsistent coverage - some visitors report streaming movies at night while others note hiking a mile from camp to find adequate signal. The campground can fill quickly even on weekdays, with limited availability by mid-afternoon. During summer months, temperatures remain warm even in September, making proper pet hydration important.

    Cottonwood Campground Wyoming

    Relaxing Place to Get Away

The spots were shady and it was not crowded at all. There were only about 5 other groups at the campground. You could even walk down to the lake. It got a bit windy at night. This campground is also nearby Devil’s Tower Nat’l Monument, which is a can’t miss if you’re in this area of Wyoming.

    Cottonwood Campground Wyoming

    Beautiful Campground

Set several miles from the highway down a gravel road. If using a gps do not turn into the grass path, there’s an actual gravel road about another 200 feet or so. The gravel road leading into it can be quite narrow.

Absolutely stunning site. There’s a stream that runs through some of the campsites (they have bridges over it). You pay (self register, $6 a night) on site (first come first serve so take a quick spin to find an open spot before registering). The bulletin board where you do this is a ways into the camp but impossible to miss.

I went in October and it was very cold at night. Also lots of hunters there for Antelope. I didn’t get to poke around as much as I wanted as I had no orange clothing with me.

Atlantic City Campground — Bureau Of Land Management

    Clean and quiet

Site 17 has two picnic tables, one on the gravel parking pad and one down a short flight of steps. The fire ring is by the bottom picnic table. The entire campground was clean including the vault toilets.

    Wind River RV Park

    Simple Overnight Spot

Tucked back in a quiet neighborhood. Friendly, helpful office manager. Bathrooms were big, modern, and clean with separate shower rooms. 50 cents for 5 minutes per shower with plenty of hot water. Sites were level & easy to get into. Nothing fancy - just a good overnight spot.

    Bishops Point Campground

    Not to bad

This is my second time staying here, it’s not bad. Definitely windy and there are few spots with trees but not really. The water is great especially if you have a boat, or paddle board. The big negative to me is the bathroom situation there really far away for some spots. But all in all it’s good spot to stay!

Atlantic City Campground — Bureau Of Land Management

    Camp in the Pine Trees

Nice, clean, and quiet.  This campground is a high quality BLM site.  Spaced out well, in the pine trees.  Beats crowded, packed in gravel CG's any day.  The GPS coordinates  posted are wrong.  Use these instead.   42.305400 N   108432568 W   at 8,219 ft. elevation.  The camp host gave us things to do, and directions.  We didn't go to "Miners Delight", but did go to "Atlantic City", and "South Pass City".   Atlantic City has a walking tour map, that can be picked up on Main street near the Mercantile location.  It was fun to follow the map and see the sites.  South Pass City has a restored mining town section.  Very interesting to see.  It's more of a museum setting, vs the usual souvenir selling tourist trap.   Fun to explore and see how the miners lived back then.  Highly recommend.

Oil Road to the Mines Dispersed Site

    Roadtrip Pit Stop

Just what we needed driving from the Tetons back to Denver. It was easy to find, was right on the route, and was far enough from the highway that traffic was just gentle light noise. Felt very safe! When you turn off you’ll see a sign that says “Mineral Road X” and the coordinates on this listing took us right to a large, gravel/dirt patch. Plenty of room to camp! I enjoyed a night of cowboy camping under the stars. There were quite a few mosquitoes though! Bring your bug spray!
