Best RV Parks & Resorts near Letart, WV

Several RV parks near Letart provide full-service options for motorhome travelers. Robert Newlon Airpark RV Park in Huntington offers 50 sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups, accommodating big rigs with both 30 and 50-amp service. "Sites are reasonably level with some requiring one 3/4-inch leveler under the wheels on one side," noted a visitor about similar parks in the region. Krodel Park Campground in Point Pleasant operates seasonally from April through October with pull-through RV pads, electric hookups, and dump station access. Blue Heron Landing in Cottageville features electric and sewer connections, while Saint Albans Roadside Park provides big rig-friendly spaces with electric and water hookups.

Mountainous terrain affects access to several parks, with narrow roads requiring careful navigation for larger motorhomes. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region—Rippling Waters Campground offers reliable connectivity while more remote locations may have limited or no service. Most RV parks in the area welcome pets, though some impose breed or size restrictions. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, travelers should note that "the little road going up to the campground is VERY bumpy" at some locations, making arrival planning important. Dump stations are available at most parks, though not all offer on-site propane refill services. Winter camping options are limited, with many facilities closing between November and March due to weather conditions.

    Hocking Hills KOA Holiday

    Great first time KOA experience

We have never stayed at a KOA before and were very happy with this campground. The staff were friendly and professional, the sites were clean, and there were a wide variety of sites to choose from. From primitive tent sites tucked back in the woods to large RV sites with water/sewer/electric/cable hookups. We are first-time owners of a 29 ft Fifth Wheel and got a pull-through site. It offered little in the way of privacy, which was the only negative about the whole experience. Our site included a fire ring and a picnic table, along with all the hook ups. The night we arrived we were too tired to cook so ordered a pizza from the front office and they delivered it to our site. They also deliver wood directly to you. They escort you directly to your site so you don't get lost or go down a one-way road the wrong way. There was a nice little pool, but it wasn't open for the season yet. The shower houses were immaculate. The front office includes a little gift shop, ice cream, and pizza. This campground was also located close (within a few miles) to all the main hiking trails, and about 12 miles from Logan. The little road going up to the campground is VERY bumpy. It's not the campground road, it belongs to the Township, so its completely out of their ability to make improvements. This was only our second time out in our fifth wheel camper so it was a little scary, but we just drove slow and our truck handled it just fine. We will definitely be back to this wonderful campground as we love Hocking Hills.

    Hocking Hills State Park Campground

    Great Ohio State Park Campground

Amazing trails walkable right from the campground. Old mans cave, upper & lower falls. Bathroom was clean. Showers were ok. My site 108 was not deep, but was wide. Great for my 5X9 travel trailer, but probably not good for a big rig. Shaded & right near the shower house was a plus.

One-Night Adventure: Our Shakedown Trip in the New Travel Trailer

Campsite Review for Site 6 – Gateway to Wayne National Forest

Our recent camping trip at this campground was an excellent way to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of Wayne National Forest. The serene forest setting provided a perfect backdrop for a relaxing outdoor adventure, with the campground offering all the basics needed for a comfortable stay.

We stayed at Site 6 in our travel trailer, enjoying the ease of a pull-through site. Although the water and electric hookups are on the opposite side unless you drive through the loop the wrong way, this setup has an unexpected benefit—it faces directly toward the woods. This orientation allowed us to savor the tranquility of the forest, adding a layer of privacy and a more intimate connection with nature.

While the sites are decently sized, they are closely positioned with minimal separation, which might limit privacy in other areas. However, the majestic surroundings of Wayne National Forest more than make up for this. The proximity to hiking trails, wildlife sightings, and the peaceful ambiance of the trees create an immersive experience that’s hard to beat.

All in all, this campground is a fantastic base for exploring Wayne National Forest. The combination of basic amenities, convenient access, and the enchanting forest environment makes it a great spot for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

    Burr Oak Cove Campground

    Nice little campsite

Cool little campground. First come first served with no reservations accepted. The sites are clean with picnic tables and fire rings and can accommodate small RVs. There are a couple of vault style outhouses, dump stations and a couple of water stations as well. No electric or water hookups, though. Came on a Thursday and there were only two sites occupied so it was nice and quiet even though there is a bit of road noise from the nearby roads. There’s also an easy 1 mile trail down to Burr Cove proper. The sites are $15 ($10 in the off season when the water is turned off) and you pay at an honor box at the entrance once you pick your spot.

    Carthage Gap

A real slice of American camping

This is a fantastic camp ground, the owners Chris and Teresa are fantastic people and the grounds are just majestic. Sitting above two fishing lakes, one you can swim in during the summer the campground is peaceful and tranquil and next to some amazing woodland.

The camping ground caters all campers and rv’s and has full sewer hook up and water. Wash houses with showers, toilets and washing machine and dryer is available. You can have firewood delivered daily, you propane refilled and Chris and Teresa are always there to help you. this is on top of the events pavilion where something is always on. A basket ball court and two playgrounds make this ideal for family’s. On season event calendar includes archery clinics and annual hog roast and more.

the grounds are 30 minutes away from the Wayne national forest and Athens and parkersburg. The beautiful Marietta and hocking valley hills sit an hour away. Simply breathtaking

Lake View Campground — Beech Fork State Park

    Beautiful and secluded

We visited in the end of October 2021. The colors and the views were spectacular. The drive into the park was very curvy mountain back roads. The site included a fire pit with grill and a picnic table. There was a fair amount of space between sites. Approximately 50-75 feet apart. The bath house was nice but could use a little refreshening. There are many activities including a shooting range, frisbee golf course, swimming pool, playground just to name a few. With Verizon as our service provider no cell signal was available at the park. Overall, we give 3 stars. Minus one star for no cell service and minus another star due to maintenance. Overall, very nice park.

Guide to Letart

Camping options near Letart, West Virginia provide access to the scenic Ohio River Valley landscape where elevations range from 580-1,200 feet above sea level. The region experiences four distinct seasons with mild springs, humid summers averaging 85°F, colorful fall foliage, and winter temperatures that typically drop to the mid-30s. Many campsites throughout Jackson and Mason counties offer direct water access for fishing, boating, and kayaking opportunities.

What to do

Skydiving experience: Watch skydivers at Robert Newlon Airpark RV Park where camping and aviation combine. "The campground is small. Has a nice dog park. Pickle ball courts Cafe Sky diving right here. The Ohio river is visible," notes camper Cheryl T.

Kayaking trips: Arrange guided river excursions through Riversedge Campground where staff help coordinate your adventure. "If you decide to rent a kayak they will even drop you off upstream to start your trip," explains Ken P. who enjoyed their father-son getaway at the riverside campsites.

Fishing opportunities: Try catch-and-release fishing at Rippling Waters where the small lake provides relaxing angling. "My husband enjoyed the catch and release lake for some catfishing," shares Debbie F. The Kanawha River also offers fishing access points near several campgrounds.

What campers like

Riverfront sites: Tent campers particularly enjoy the water-adjacent sites at Riversedge Campground. "We stayed at one of the riverside tent sites. It was beautiful!!! The sites are well maintained & the bathrooms are clean," writes Salena, who appreciated the waterfront location.

Secluded settings: Farver Acres provides a rare private camping experience with minimal crowds. "Our stay at this incredible campground was nothing short of magical. With three spacious gravel sites nestled in a quiet, serene setting, it truly felt like our own private escape from the world. We didn't see another person for four full days," reports Hannah.

Morning treats: Some campgrounds offer unexpected personal touches. "On our last day she brought us warm cinnamon rolls and coffee. We enjoyed them by our fire as we watched the mist gently float over the water," shares Eric S. about the host at Riversedge Campground.

What you should know

Train noise considerations: Railroad tracks run near some rv parks in Letart and surrounding areas. "The only real problem comes with the train tracks right here. The trains are close and do blow their whistle for crossing by the office," warns a Robert Newlon Airpark visitor.

Road conditions: Some campground access roads require careful driving. At Rippling Waters Church of God Campgrounds, "The road isn't nearly as bad as some have said. It has place for caution but isn't scary," according to Larry, who found the drive manageable despite concerns.

Water quality varies: Water systems may have noticeable treatment chemicals. "The water is pretty strong so you may want to use a regulator. Water also had a strong odor of chlorine. After showers I felt like I was just getting out of a pool," notes Larry at Rippling Waters.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campsites near Letart feature recreational facilities for children. Saint Albans Roadside Park offers "a fenced in playground that is very nice," according to Andrew S., making it suitable for families with young children needing contained play areas.

Pool amenities: Farver Acres provides excellent connectivity for tech-dependent families. "We were pleasantly surprised by the fast campsite internet," Hannah reports, which helps with weather monitoring, activity planning, or keeping teens connected during longer stays.

Safety considerations: At Saint Albans Roadside Park, one camper advises, "Make sure to keep your stuff locked up. Lots of vagrants and over grown men riding kids bicycles with backpacks," suggesting families take standard security precautions with belongings.

Tips from RVers

Site length variations: Some campsites offer unusually spacious pull-through options. "Our site is the longest I've ever seen, it's basically a long driveway that leads back out to the road, that's pretty awesome," describes Larry about his lakefront spot at Rippling Waters.

Unique amenities: Ashland RV Park combines camping with city convenience. "Located on Muskingum River close to downtown Marietta OH owner and Staff are very friendly and easy going! Clean, nice newer bath house. With laundry large shelter house," explains Keith O., highlighting the blend of natural setting with practical facilities.
