River Run Campground — North Bend State Park

    Great experience

The campground was pretty packed for much of the weekend, but it never got too loud. Bathrooms are clean and the sites seem pretty spacious. I was at site 2, which is on a slight incline, but it didn't matter too much because I camp in a teardrop so keeping it level isn't an issue. Wifi and Verizon cell were both strong. Easy access to the rail trail and close to the river. I'll definitely go back.

    Great Amenities

After years of tent camping, this was our first camping trip with camper our and two youngest kids. When we stayed it was cold outside but we had full hook up and were prepared.

We had nice view of the lodge. The lodge amenities are top notch with a heated pool that only costs a a daily charge to use on top of camping. The campsite itself was a little pricey with the only thing distinguishing the campground being lodge activities you have to pay for.

    I’d recommend sites 1-5, 20, and 39.

River Run Campground — North Bend State Park

    Great Family Campground

We had a wonderful time. The Park is great and we have stayed at lodge 4 times before but this was first camping trip.

We stayed during historic heat wave but kept cool in the river, the pool, and with the ice cream store nearby. There wasn’t easy river access from the campground but we climbed down the hill with no problem and waded the stream for hours.

The property was very clean and family oriented. Nice spacing at our site in particular. I would also recommend sites 10, 11, 17, 19, 13, and 14.

    Cass,WV

Great location for Cass RR or start or end of the greenbrier river rail trail. Privately owned. Grassy sites, “mostly “ . We camped in our Van. 110/30 amp service at most sites. Many seasonal rental spaces. “Simple “ plywood shower and toilet house. (Mens side not so clean) hot water shower. $30/night with or without electricity. Tight sites, we camped mid week before the Memorial Day holiday.

This establishment does NOT offer tent sites anymore! 5/18/2024. I called to make a reservation and they said they do not do that anymore as of a few years ago.

    Weekend Getaway

Great place to stay! We were at site 13, right on the water. Check-in was easy and the staff was very friendly! Plenty of ice and firewood at the store and a cute little gift shop. The site was mostly flat where we parked the camper and very close to the bathhouse. Plenty to do around the park - biking the rail trails, hiking, fishing, basketball, and a nice playground, to name a few! We definitely plan to make another trip there this year!!

    Beautiful Location

My family and I liked this campground a lot. We had a camp site that was right against the river with full hookups. This seemed to be a well laid out campground with sites for weekenders in maybe the best location right along the river and the seasonal campers spread out around. The camp store was nice with everything you need, and the staff and owners were friendly as well. We were there for a long weekend and all agreed we would go back.

Remeber to check in at Days Inn

Our stay was for one night on a travel day to another location. Campground is clean and well-maintained. My wife read a review that mentioned check-in is in the Days Inn signage is small and if we didn’t know we needed to check-in at the hotel we would have missed it. This campground is labeled as a journey but with the addition of amenities at the Days Inn this is a great place for a couple of days. Very dog friendly.

Besides the price, this place was great

Everything the other comments say about the price is true, but that aside this KOA is great. It is set back behind the hotel and far from the interstate. Our site was very large. The entire place was full of trees! So different from other KOAs!

The showers each had their own private door, and there was a hotel free ice machine at the bathrooms! It was super quiet during the week.

    Moto Camping

Review from the perspective of a motorcycle traveler tent camping. Tent sites are along a stream on one side and campsite access road on the other. Clean and well maintained with super nice staff. Had a $6 bundle of firewood delivered to my campsite. Tent area was vacant except for me.

    Stunning views great campsite

It was an incredible experience. It was quiet and serene. There was a shop where you could purchase wood and supplies. There was a bathroom close by with running water and showers. It was beautiful and very close to the lake.

    Great place

I have been camping there since 1972. Both upper and lower sites The lower is quiter. It can be crowded on weekends in the summer but with no designated sites there always seems to be space. The upper site has a really nice new heated shower house. I go there to climb and both sites are close to the rocks. I have camped there just about every month of the year. Be forwarded this entire area has no cell service due to the Green radio telescopes.

    Fantastic park!

My only complaint is that the sites are so close together. But boy did we love this park! Not terrible unlevel rv spots with water and electric. They have free wifi which works pretty well. An adorable camp store with some toiletries and other essentials like condiments and s'mores supplies. A few stuffed animals, tshirts/hoodies, stickers etc. I had to buy a hoodie since it was so ridiculously soft and normal priced at $39. Wood and ice available also along with a pepsi machine. Attendant was a very nice helpful young man. Actually every single worker there was super friendly and helpful and even had some great conversations. Also available are tent sites and gorgeously remodeled cabins we would love to come back and check out. Lovely nature center with a friendly and very knowledgable lady, some gifts and lots of things to check out including furs, microscopes, videos, a cute turtle and a blue hill fish and crayfish. Picnic area outside and playground as well. The lake was beautiful and the lodge was certainly a sight to see. We even checked out the marina and had lunch in the lodge restaurant. Food was good (like your average pub faire) and service was fantastic. Lodge also had quite the gift shop with the average memorabilia but also some things from local artists like candles, lotions, lip balms and soaps. Also some pottery/glass items. Will definitely return.

    Hidden gem

Took us a bit to get to the campground but was pleasantly surprised. The evening we arrived the bathrooms were in need of cleaning but by morning they were restocked and much better. Lots to do here for family with boating and water park. Watch for deer! We saw more deer than usual. Usually don’t accept walk in. But we lucked up as someone didn’t show up.

    Unplugged weekend

Very nice campground. We stayed in campground 4. Tenting. The weekend was a little wet but it was very peaceful. Absolutely zero cell service for att and Verizon. It was nice but I couldn’t check weather lol. Rangers drove thru often and camp sites are nicely spaced. Plenty of options if you like a more tree covered site or open site. I would visit again.

    Perfect Stay at River’s Edge

We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it. Revelle is family operated, and it’s obvious they take pride in their work. The grounds are nicely kept, and the bathrooms are very clean indeed. They have weekend activities for guests, and a small convenient store that’s well stocked with the basics. We were feet from the river and it was super peaceful. Beware though, their WiFi only works near the main office. Five stars for sure.

    Great camping area

Trails to lakeside/shore where campers do swim although no swimming from shore is "not" allowed. Just be respectful and clean up after yourselves and usually no drama involved. Trails for campers to hike and great boating and fishing as well as game and fish preserved management with public hunting & fishing all around on state property. I've camped here many many times throughout the year, Great camping although could be totally filled up by a Thursday so you may want to reserve if a holiday weekend 😀.
