Keller Ferry Campground — Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

Lake Roosevelt stretches across this remote section of north-central Washington, where Keller Ferry Campground occupies a grassy area with one paved loop and additional overflow parking for RVs up to 30 feet. The National Park Service maintains basic facilities including outdoor rinse showers, restrooms, and water spigots for filling containers, though no hookups or fire pits are provided.

Most day visitors congregate at the nearby swimming beach and boat launch, while overnight campers pay $25 for what amounts to organized boondocking. The campground serves as a functional base for water activities on the reservoir, with Jones Bay Campground — Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area located five miles east for those seeking additional amenities. The sparse surrounding landscape offers few services, making this spot primarily suitable for self-contained campers focused on lake access.

Overnight use of a parking lot

I never knew about Lake Roosevelt. This is a nice little spot in an otherwise sparse area of the country.

The “campground” is fine; there is one paved loop, some spots staked out on the grass, and RV overflow in the parking lot. Most of the people here during the day are just hanging out on the beach. I sort of feel like I’m paying $25/night for the privilege of boondocking in the lot (no hookups).

  • Outdoor showers, more for a rinse after swimming,
  • Changing areas,
  • Good sized bathrooms,
  • Utility sink is closed as of July 2022,
  • Water spigots to fill jugs,
  • No fire pits,
  • Boat launch and swimming area are nearby.
