Bay Loop Campground — Steamboat Rock State Park

    Great cabins, beautiful location

We stayed a couple of nights in the cabins in this campground when they were brand new in 2013. Personally, I'd be wary of tent camping in the summer here because it gets very hot. Returning from a day hiking on the rock and chilling in the AC of the cabin was priceless.

The location is great, you can walk right from the camp area up the mesa which has incredible views, or go swimming in the lake or any other water based activity. It's a short drive to town where there's a grocery store and the Grand Coulee Dam, which is a must-see if you're in the area. At night they do laser light shows, which was a fun side trip.

The facilities are great, water tap nearby, picnic table and fire pit with grill at the site, and clean restrooms with showers (that you pay for). The bathrooms get pretty sauna like in the heat but are survivable. We had a blast trying our hardest to grill things on the fire pit, though we did break down and use the microwave in our cabin at least once... The minifridge in the cabin was also nice for that. Glamping at it's finest!

    Hartman's Log Cabin Resort

    Amazing Fishing - Beautiful Lake(s)

We have stayed here two times, with our little starlight Tent Trailers. Almost a week each time. The setting is beautiful. The lake is clean and full of fish!!

Bald eagles, Loons, turtles, even Moose & Bears ! The resort office has a small cafe and store. This resort has been around for many years and is a bit run-down. Some their old log cabins are looking like very old log cabins. Wonderful if you don't care about level floors. They also have a multi-room motel if you want that instead. Common Bathrooms that also show their age.

There are boat docks, with slips for rent. Paying the dock fee or camping covers the Indian reservation recreation fee. An Indian reservation fishing license is required here, but not a Washington State License. If you have a WA license, you still need the Reservation License.

    Clear Lake Military

    Excellent facility—beautiful and clean!

Military site with everything you could possibly need—tent, RV, and tiny cabins. This site was very well maintained, and very highly trafficked in the summer. Access to water and excellent for some good old fashioned family fun :)

    Spokane KOA Journey

    Dated, crowded, no shade

We stayed one night in a deluxe cabin. It was spacious enough, with a partial kitchen, AC, and full bath. The grounds are well-kept but older. The cabin was tired—cabinets with loose hinges, squeaky bed, tub drain was slow, WiFi wasn’t working. Each cabin has a propane grill and the one by ours was too dirty to use. There is no shade on the cabins or many of the tent sites and it’s often so hot here in the summer that the AC can’t cool very well. It was 82 in our cabin despite running the AC and keeping all the blinds closed. The pool is clean but very cold and there is no shade on the playground so go in the morning or evening if you don’t want to get burned. Nothing nearly except a Wendy’s and a convenience store. Trains going by all night nearby.
Fine for one night, but don’t recommend an extended stay Note: they do not allow EV charging but there is no written policy anywhere on the website or in any of the registration emails.

Bay Loop Campground — Steamboat Rock State Park

Cabins are spectacular! Anything else isn't worth it.

This campground must cost a mint to maintain - the lawn is midwestern-perfect and trimmed to perfection, the landscaping is gorgeous, and the campground is sprayed nightly if mosquitoes are particularly bad even in the height of August. That being said, there's nothing delineating your site from the neighboring site, so you're really just sharing a lawn with a hundred of your fellow campers. This campground is very popular with families with young children, so be prepared to have kids whizzing around on their scooters at all hours of the day. It was kinda awesome to see kids play in the street in a way i bet they couldn't at home.

So the cabins - that's what you really want. they're air-conditioned, comfortable, and clean. there's a fridge, a picnic table, a fire pit, and your own personal patch of pristine kelly-green lawn. worth EVERY penny!

    Spokane KOA Journey

    Clear Lake Recreation Area

    Party place

This place had everything i could possibly want for an affordable price. Boat, kayak and other equipment rentals, restaurant, bathrooms, changing rooms, showers, fishing dock, swimming area, shaded lawns and picnic tables. Only $15 for a dry tent space with shade and view of the lake! Why not give it 5 stars? The visitors are primarily young, drinking, playing loud music, driving fast and kicking up dust. It was annoying but tolerable. Staff was kind, knowledgeable, location is close to I90 and easy to find. Easily a few hundred people here on a summer weekend, so be prepared. Be sure to check out the turtles swimming around the dock. Lots of wildlife.

Bowl and Pitcher Campground — Riverside State Park

    Gorgeous!!! Bowl and Pitcher

This is a larger campground great for RV, trailers and tents. The sites are enclosed in a circle, making a nice walk or bike ride. The campgroundl has partial hook ups and is very camper friendly otherwise.

Sites are pretty open not offering a good amount of privacy, though most are along the Spokane River. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, with bbq grate. The site has showers and flushing toilets!!

This is a perfect getaway for people looking to unplug as no cell service (tested on sprint, verizon, and google fi) is available. There is tons of wildlife and lots of trails and riverbank to explore.my favorite thing was the suspension bridge over the river. Lots of space for swimming and fishing!

Morning hours typically offer the best wildlife viewing when animals are most active.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: Two Rivers Resort receives positive feedback for site spacing. A reviewer appreciated that "Spaces are spread out. Huge campground." The resort design places cabins throughout the property rather than clustering them together.

Beach access: Several lakefront cabin properties provide private beach areas. Ruby's Resort at Silver Lake received this comment: "Great spot for fishing and playing with the kids. We stayed on the premium lake view site which was solid and away from much of the other campers so it felt private." Beach access is typically included in the rental cost.

Quality shower facilities: Northern Quest RV Resort maintains clean facilities, with one camper describing it as "Immaculate RV park within minutes of the Casino." Most cabin properties provide shower buildings separate from the cabins, with some charging quarter-operated fees.

Nearby fishing opportunities: Multiple cabin locations offer direct fishing access. According to a visitor at Ruby's Resort: "Took the boat too. Great spot for fishing and playing with the kids." The region's lakes contain various fish species including bass, trout, and perch.

What you should know

Military ID requirements: Some cabin facilities near Davenport restrict access. A reviewer of Clear Lake Military noted, "Military ID required. Sites 1-15 have zero shade and are close together. Dogs are not allowed on the beach or lake areas." Verify access requirements before booking.

Seasonal availability: Many cabins operate seasonally. Goose Creek RV Park & Campground operates "April thru October" according to their listing information. Winter cabin options are limited in the region.

Noise considerations: Several properties experience noise issues. One camper at Spokane KOA Journey reported, "This KOA is surrounded by residences and businesses, and also right next to very active train tracks. The trains have been quite frequent day and night... and for some reason so has a rooster." Request cabins away from roads and railroad tracks when possible.

Reservation timing: Popular cabin locations book quickly, especially for premium spots. A reviewer at Cedar Village Motel & RV mentioned, "Little cabins for the long stay, with kitchens, the 2 nice cabins come with decks." Reserve 3-6 months in advance for summer weekends.

Tips for camping with families

Seek cabin properties with play areas: Several resorts offer dedicated children's facilities. A visitor to Riverside State Park noted, "This is a larger campground great for RV, trailers and tents. The sites are enclosed in a circle, making a nice walk or bike ride." The circular layout provides a safe area for children to explore.

Consider cabin size limitations: Most basic cabins accommodate 4-6 people maximum. One camper stated about Cedar Village, "A super sweet cabin out west sort of vibe, convenient to the freeway but removed from the city." Request specific occupancy limits before booking.

Evaluate bathroom proximity: Cabin layouts vary regarding bathroom access. According to a Clear Lake Military visitor, "Cabins do have ac and electricity, no water." Cabins without bathrooms require walking to central facilities, which can be challenging for families with young children.

Check swimming safety features: Look for properties with designated swimming areas. A camper at Clear Lake Recreation Area said, "This site was very well maintained, and very highly trafficked in the summer. Access to water and excellent for some good old fashioned family fun." Ask about lifeguards, depth markers, and swimming docks when booking.

Tips from RVers

Consider cabin alternatives during RV maintenance: Some travelers use cabins when RVs need repair. A Northern Quest RV Resort guest shared, "The wind had torn part of our roof and we had to find a place to stay a few nights, quickly and tarp before rain came. They accommodated our stay and even lent us a ladder to use while repairing the damage."

Verify cabin pad surfaces: Surface quality varies between properties. At Northern Quest RV Resort, a reviewer appreciated "Spacious lots with grass and asphalt pads." Concrete pads typically provide more stable, level surfaces for accessibility.

Check proximity to RV facilities: Some cabin areas share amenities with RV sections. Goose Creek RV Park received this feedback: "Nice, Green, Quiet, Enjoyable Stay! This is a really nice park, a gem in the middle of wheat and ancient lava flow fields. Great staff, well maintained and green, lush grass. Restrooms, showers and laundry are available."
