Camp Pleasant requires a 6.5-mile hike along the North Fork Skokomish River Trail from the Staircase Ranger Station trailhead. This National Park Service backcountry site sits directly beside the river, with several campsites located on a small island accessible by foot. The northernmost island site offers the closest river proximity.
Established campfire rings with rock or log seating are scattered throughout the area, though fire restrictions may apply seasonally. The NPS bear wire system has experienced outages, requiring campers to hang food from nearby big leaf maple branches. Ripe blueberries grow adjacent to some campsites during late summer. Reservations are available through the National Park Service, and pets are prohibited. For additional backcountry options, campers can explore places to camp near Olympic National Park.
