Beautiful Trail

This is located on the east fork off the Quinault River just North of the Quinault River. To get here you take the Graves Creek Trailhead 2.7 miles. There is camping just past the bridge. The campsite is on one of my favorite trails that leads to the Enchanted Valley.

Great Camp Spot on the way to Enchanted Valley

This was one of my favorite spots on the trail to rest and camp. Located close to the trailhead, it is a great destination in itself to be located in the great old growth forest of Olympic National Park. The campground has several back country spots locate din and around pony bridge and the trail itself. It does have a running stream to gather water from.

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities are available at Pony Bridge Campsite?

Pony Bridge Campsite offers minimal backcountry amenities. The site has several designated primitive camping spots with flat areas for tents. There are no developed facilities such as picnic tables, trash service, or restrooms. Campers should be prepared to follow Leave No Trace principles, including packing out all trash and properly storing food to avoid wildlife encounters. Water is available from the nearby Quinault River, but must be filtered or treated before consumption.

How difficult is the hike to Pony Bridge Campsite?

The hike to Pony Bridge Campsite is moderately difficult, covering approximately 2.7 miles from the Graves Creek Trailhead. The trail follows the East Fork Quinault River through beautiful old-growth forest with modest elevation gain, making it accessible for hikers with average fitness levels. The path is well-maintained but can be muddy in wet conditions. This relatively short distance makes Pony Bridge a good destination for beginners to backcountry camping or as the first night's stop for those continuing to Enchanted Valley.

Are permits required for overnight camping at Pony Bridge?

Yes, overnight camping at Pony Bridge requires a backcountry permit from Olympic National Park. These permits are necessary for all backcountry camping within the park boundaries. Permits help manage wilderness use and protect the natural environment. Contact the Olympic National Park Wilderness Information Center or visit the park's official website to obtain your permit before your trip, as availability may be limited during peak seasons.

Where is Pony Bridge Campsite located in Olympic National Park?

Pony Bridge Campsite is located along the East Fork of the Quinault River in the southwestern section of Olympic National Park. To reach the campsite, hikers start at the Graves Creek Trailhead and travel 2.7 miles along the East Fork Quinault River Trail. The campsite is situated just past the bridge that crosses the river, placing it strategically on the popular route to Enchanted Valley.
