Best Cabin Camping near Saratoga Springs, UT

Several cabin campgrounds near Saratoga Springs, Utah offer a range of accommodation options for visitors seeking more shelter than traditional tent sites. Springville/Provo KOA Holiday provides cabins with electrical hookups, heating and air conditioning systems for year-round comfort. The cabins at Jordanelle State Park's Hailstone campground include water and electrical hookups with both 30-amp and 50-amp service available. "This KOA is one of the nicer KOA's that we have stayed at. It is very well managed with a professional, friendly staff," noted one visitor about the Springville location. Cabins at Wasatch Mountain State Park feature similar amenities with picnic tables outside each unit, providing convenient outdoor dining spaces.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. KOA-style cabins typically include basic furnishings with beds, while more upscale options at places like Mountain Valley RV Resort and River's Edge at Heber Valley offer enhanced amenities. Most cabin sites are reservable, with peak season bookings recommended several months in advance. Pet policies vary by campground—Springville/Provo KOA allows pets in designated cabins, as do most of the Heber City area locations. A visitor remarked, "The setup is generally the same at a lot of KOA. This well kept KOA has lots of amenities, but sites have zero privacy."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities range from basic to well-equipped depending on the cabin category. Primitive cabins may only offer fire rings or outdoor grills, while deluxe units might include microwaves and mini-refrigerators. Several campgrounds including Echo Island RV Resort and Pony Express RV Resort maintain on-site markets where visitors can purchase basic provisions. Firewood is sold at many locations, but availability may be seasonal. Washrooms with showers are typically located near cabin areas, though some premium cabins include private bathrooms with hot water.

Dixie Creek Campground — East Canyon State Park

A good example of how government campsites should be done

Overall, the facility is neat and clean for a campground. My visit was at the end of the 4th weekend, so some messes were expected. My campsite was in good shape upon setting up my 30ft trailer. All sites are back-in and mostly flat asphalt. A little rig leveling might be needed. The outside of the loop at Dixie C.G. is electric and water only. The inside of the loop has full hook-ups.

All sites have long, sturdy metal tables and a metal cover over a concrete pad. A fire pit was adjacent. Even with fire restrictions almost everywhere else in Utah, wood fires were permitted in the provided pit. Common area toilets are well maintained, containing flush toilets and running water. Most service buildings also contain free showers.

A one-star deduction is due to the effects of climate change, which is out of the Park's control to an extent. That said, my beef is with maintenance of the beach - a nice beach by the way. It's obvious where the historical water level use to be. Wish I could have seen the reservoir full because it may never happen again. But I digress. I think the park should rake or scrape the beach surface to remove offensive weeds and people's discards. That takes workers, budget and equipment. My guess is our State representatives lack interest to fund state parks for such mediation measures. It would greatly enhance the visual appeal and safety for families at the water's edge.

    Immaculately maintained campground

We stayed for only one night, but I would come back here in a heartbeat! Big, clean bathrooms with running water, mirrors, flushing toilets, & hot showers. Gorgeous view of the lake - you can walk right down to the water from your site. Super friendly staff. Tent pads are all level and maintained after each camper. Has all the other essentials- clean picnic table, big clean fire pit, and a charcoal grill.

Dixie Creek Campground — East Canyon State Park

    Decent water destination!

We went during the summer and had a great time. The views were perfect and the lake is active with choice of water fun rentals. The site is standard with a small lawn area and a pavilion. Bathrooms are onsite as well as showers. Pet friendly but need to be on a leash at all times. Great for RV’s as power and water is present on each site.

    Mountain Valley RV Resort

    Mountain Valley RV Resort, Utah

One of our all time favorite RV parks. Located in beautiful Heber City, Utah. We felt at home as soon as we arrived and were greeted by a nice man on a golf cart who lead us to where we’d be staying. There is an adult only section if you’re looking for peace and quiet away from kids. The concrete was level and spacious, each with its own picnic table.

They have two dog parks, one of which is the nicest and largest one we’ve seen thus far. The laundry room was sparkling clean and located adjacent to the pickle ball courts and outdoor fire pits. They have an on-site RV wash available and allowed us to borrow an adaptor from them at no charge. We enjoyed an evening in their hot tub/spa. They also have a large pool area near the bathrooms that were the most well maintained bathrooms we’ve ever used on the road. To top it all off, they have a gorgeous fitness center with weights, a treadmill and elliptical available to all guests.

Overall we were extremely impressed with all amenities and the customer service provided at Mountain Valley RV Resort and would recommend it highly to anyone visiting the area.

    Tanners Flat

Good location for exploring Wasatch Mountains and Salt Lake City

You really need to know this: No dogs are allowed because this campground is in the Salt Lake City watershed.

And this: As inviting as the water running through the campground may look, you are not allowed to swim, wade or wash in it.

One more thing: Gate closes at 10 pm although that didn't stop some partiers at the next site in from us. They partied and left around 11 or so. There was no payment tag on the post. The exit is open but has tire shredders if you enter over them.

A pleasant surprise at a Forest Service campground: 10 lbs of ice for $2! (There was also the usual bundle of firewood for $6.)

An unpleasant surprise: Old, dirty bathrooms. I've seen cleaner vault toilets elsewhere than these flush toilets.

There is no water for now (July 2018) in bathroom sinks or at spigots. The host said something about a pipe issue and water needing to be tested. That covers the amenities other than dumpsters.

What about the sites? We arrived on a Sunday morning when the host was putting up signs indictating which sites were reserved. We had 3 possible sites among 1 through 19 and grabbed #9, a pull through site with a buffer between the road in the parking/small RV area.

Sites in the other area (higher numbers) were becoming available, but that area's host said many of the sites were only appropriate for tents.

Our site #9: There are a few steps down to the picnic table, fire ring and grill plus a separate area to the left for a tent. See photos.

    General site info:

    • Some sites have a concrete pad for the picnic table, etc.

    • Many sites have an area for the tent that is away from the picnic table and concealed from the road.

    Mountain Valley RV Resort

    Clean and Cozy

We only stayed at Mountain View for one night while passing through, but we enjoyed our stay. The office staff was super friendly. Mark came out on a cart to usher us to our site. He was helpful and provided wonderful advice for the rest of our trip in Utah (Moab). The sites are a bit close, but the campground was quiet and clean.

Our girls enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The laundry facilities were nice and even had a designated machine for pet laundry. The restrooms and showers were private and clean. The water pressure was high and temp was hot. There was a beautiful fire pit near the pool along with pickle ball and basketball courts.

This facility is near the highway but the road noise wasn’t a problem for us.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Hailstone - Upper Fisher Campground — Jordanelle State Park

    Great camping spot!

The state park was great! The campsite was great! Very clean and well kept! Also dog friendly,, so that was good, they had a doggy poop bag station by the the people bathroom! We stayed in D Loop close to the water! Our spot had a cement pad with a picnic table, a fire ring, a grill! The tent pad was nice! The bathrooms were close and very well kept! They were cleaned every day! The showers were nice and there were several of them! The only negative thing was it was close to the highway so we could hear the cars driving at night!

Guide to Saratoga Springs

Cabin accommodations near Saratoga Springs, Utah range from basic structures to fully-equipped units within an hour's drive. The area sits at elevations between 4,500-5,000 feet, creating moderate summer temperatures that drop significantly after sunset. Most cabin locations remain accessible year-round, though winter bookings may require advance planning for snow conditions at higher elevation sites.

What to do

Fishing access: At Echo Island RV Resort, cabins provide easy access to on-site fishing opportunities. "My family and I have been coming here for years. It has a lot of trailer spots that are almost all pull throughs and have hook ups. It's fun to bring kayaks and float the river," notes Jake V. The property features small streams for fishing without traveling far from your accommodation.

Mountain biking hub: Cabin stays at Hailstone - Wasatch Campground position you near Park City's extensive trail network. "Jordanelle resevoir is a destination of its own but is a 10 minute drive from Park City. Clean bathrooms and showers make this a great place to camp if you are doing water or mountain sports," explains Stefanie I. Many trails are suitable for intermediate riders with some beginner-friendly options.

Winter recreation: Cabins at Tanners Flat provide access to nearby winter sports when snow blankets the region. "Nearby attractions include Lisa Falls, Cecret Lake and numerous summertime activities at Snowbird and Alta ski resorts. During the summer at Snowbird there are summer slides kind of like dry bobsleds and the tram runs all the way up to Hidden Peak," states Alan B. Winter cabin availability varies by location with many reducing services during snow season.

What campers like

Private facilities: Many campers appreciate Mountain Valley RV Resort cabins for their well-maintained amenities. "The facilities are very new and always clean, nice big private restrooms with showers, two laundry facilities, two hot tubs and two pools, basketball and other gaming courts, BBQs and fire pits, a small gym and pool hall, and very attentive helpful staff," describes Zoe M. Most cabin sites include outdoor space with picnic tables.

Family-friendly amenities: Cabins at Pony Express RV Resort offer numerous on-site recreation options. "There are several different amenities including a pool, playground for the kids, life-size chessboard, and a mini-breed dog park!" notes Derek E. The resort maintains paved roads throughout, making it accessible for strollers and bikes.

Peaceful locations: Many cabins provide relative quiet despite proximity to urban areas. "Tanners flat is a close trip up Little Cottonwood Canyon. NO Dogs allowed in the canyon- it is a watershed. Very popular spot for locals to day trip or weekend trip," shares Andrea P. Most cabins require 1-2 night minimum stays with weekend availability filling quickly during summer months.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Cabin availability near Saratoga Springs varies by season with highest demand from May through September. "This is a fairly large campground for such a narrow canyon. There are 31 single sites, 3 doubles, and 3 group campsites. The single sites are $23 a night and be sure to make your reservation early as you are unlikely to get a walk in," advises Alan B. at Tanners Flat. Most locations require reservations 3-6 months in advance for weekend dates.

Cabin amenities variance: Facilities differ significantly between locations from basic shelter to resort-style accommodations. "Not all spots have trees but there are a lot of trees. The spots are small gravel and rather level. We are happy with the size of our spot. Each spot has a fire pit and picnic table," notes CJ L. about River's Edge at Heber Valley. Most cabin rentals require guests to bring bedding, though some premium units include linens.

Off-season limitations: Winter cabin stays may have reduced services. "Called in the morning to make a same day reservation. They have closed the restrooms as a COVID precaution and are requiring everyone to have a self contained bathroom/shower," reported Muriel W. about River's Edge. Many locations maintain seasonal schedules with limited winter accessibility depending on elevation.

Tips for camping with families

Playground options: Families staying in cabins can take advantage of dedicated play areas at many locations. "We have already been here for 3 nights and are staying a week. The grounds are so well-maintained. We don't have children but there's a very nice playground and small pond where they can fish - catch and release," shares CJ L. about River's Edge at Heber Valley. Most playgrounds remain open from dawn until quiet hours begin.

Swimming facilities: Several cabin locations maintain pools for family use with varying seasonal availability. "This campground has 3 loops. It's close to 2 reservoirs, tons of dirt bike and side by side trails, and Heber city. There's also a few group sites with pavilions," notes David T. about Pine Creek Campground. Most pools operate from late May through early September with limited hours.

Traffic concerns: Some cabin locations experience higher vehicle traffic on weekends. "Traveling thru to California. Easy on/off from I-15. Clean spots and level pads. Registration was very easy. Came in at dark and left at dark. Not sure of the other amenities," mentions Pete M. about staying at Springville/Provo KOA. Families should check quiet hours policies as enforcement varies by location.

Tips from RVers

Site spacing: RVers note significant differences in privacy levels between cabin locations. "The setup is generally the same at a lot of KOA. This well kept KOA has lots of amenities, but sites have zero privacy. Parking spots are paved," explains Dene H. Most cabin sites include parking for one vehicle with additional parking sometimes available.

Utility connections: Cabins with hookups typically offer reliable electricity but water pressure can vary. "Great campsite. Clean and nice amenities for a State Park. Be careful hooking up your RV to water. Very high pressure," warns Trevor S. about Jordanelle State Park. Guests should bring pressure regulators if connecting RVs to water systems.
