Within Dixie National Forest, Losee Canyon provides dispersed camping across BLM-managed land with multiple site options spread throughout the area. This drive-in and walk-in accessible campground allows campfires, pets, and alcohol, with cell service available for those who need connectivity.

The camping area features numerous sites with varying terrain and vegetation. Some sites sit within juniper forest while others occupy more open ground, and elevation changes create both sloped and level options for different camping preferences. "Lots of level spots great view," notes Jeffrey A.. Wood Road extends miles west from the main camping zone, providing access to additional dispersed opportunities further from the primary area.

Bryce-Orange colored hills rise behind the campground, creating a distinctive backdrop for campers. Views extend westward where the land slopes down toward distant valleys and ridgelines. The area connects to nearby trail systems for hiking and horseback riding, with Casto Canyon Views Dispersed located just east of the main camping zone.

Access comes via either Casto Canyon Road from US-89 to the north or the closer route from UT-12. Road conditions can become challenging during wet weather, potentially requiring extended stays until surfaces improve. The spacing between sites reduces crowding even during busier periods.

Visitors often highlighted the numerous well-spaced sites with good views and level ground options. Many mentioned the variety of terrain from forested to open areas, plus nearby hiking trails and scenic Bryce-area backdrop.

Wood Rd dispersed sites

Lots of sites, widely spaced, no crowding. Some are in juniper forest, some are more open. Some are sloped, some are more flat. Plenty to choose from in our early-May visit. Wood Rd goes miles west, with more opportunities not far off the road. Behind the area, there are Bryce-Orange hills that make for a nice sight. Off to the west, the land slopes down gently for nice distant views of valleys and ridgelines.
We came in via the northern stretch of Casto Canyon Rd off US89, but this place is actually closer to UT-12. It's going to rain or snow tonight and tomorrow, so we're going to find out how well the roads can be navigated.... or wait for a couple of days. TBD.
