Worthen Meadow Campground

Paddle boarders and kayakers find direct access to an alpine lake at Worthen Meadow Campground, where fish jump regularly and the Upper Brewers trail begins at the main parking lot. This US Forest Service campground operates from June through September in Shoshone National Forest, with sites positioned close to the water's edge but spaced relatively tight together.

The rough access road requires a sturdy vehicle, as multiple campers note the challenging drive conditions. Sites include trees suitable for hammock setup, and the campground provides drinking water, maintained pit toilets, and trash service. Walking trails circle the lake, while wildflowers bloom into July at this elevation. Carrie C. notes "lots of trees to hitch up the hammock, too" among the lakeside sites.

Generator noise can be an issue when groups gather, though the location maintains relative quiet during less busy periods. The campground prohibits pets and offers fishing opportunities directly from the shoreline. Larger RVs may find maneuvering challenging given the tight site spacing and rough access conditions.

Campers can explore additional campgrounds around Lander for alternative base camps when planning extended stays in the area. The elevation and seasonal access make this a summer-only destination for those seeking direct water access.

Campers regularly cited the stunning alpine lake setting with excellent water activities and well-maintained facilities. The peaceful atmosphere and site privacy were highlights, though some noted tight spacing for large RVs and occasional generator noise.

Beautiful lake

Beautiful lake for kayaking and fishing, the sites are a little bit tight for larger RVs and the road is rough getting in here but manageable. Neighborhood noise with generators is kind of obnoxious, otherwise I give five stars.

Great spot especially if you’re biking

Beautiful lake! We enjoyed paddle boarding and watching fish jump. Lots of trees to hitch up the hammock, too. Sites were relatively close together. Pit toilets were well maintained. Upper Brewers trail starts at the main parking lot, it’s great biking with beautiful views the entire ride, although very rocky. In July the wild flowers were still blooming strong!

Heaven?

This site might be paradise. Seated high above Sinks Canyon (which also os awesome!) it is nestled along the shores of an alpine lake. Quiet, peaceful, and just breathtaking. Be sure to bring a sturdy car/truck!

Pretty, quiet campground

Peaceful lakeside spot – stayed here for one night while passing through the area. Loved the sunrise over the lake and the privacy of the sites. Quiet place to camp, even though there were a lot of groups there when we arrived, we had no trouble finding a spot. Pit toilet on-site and walking trails around the lake are close by.
